Hey! Great to see some Australian layouts! If you’re interested I cover most of the exhibitions in Australia and the model railway news, as well as reviews and of course big trains!
Hi Jimmy, the model railroad scene is pretty good here in Australia, including a lot of manufacturers of Australian Locomotives and rolling stock. Unfortunately, the cost of getting stuff to Aus. is high so it can be a bit restrictive. Thanks for giving us a shout-out, it's really appreciated by the MRR community...Cheers from Melbourne, Australia! NB: I model in N Scale, North American prototype...I would have done Aussie but there was nothing available when I started...
A number of years ago, I belonged to an Australian based modeling forum dealing with all kinds of modeling including cars, trucks and model railroading. These guys were doing some really interesting stuff, making extensive use of the Faller car system among other things. I was also surprised at the amount of interest in North American prototypes.
Australia has some VERY cool motive power. Look up the CL class. Imagine if you took an SDP40F, chopped the cab off, and put an E or F unit bulldog nose cab on it! it's a very cool combination! I'm hoping they'll start making some N scale models of those one day. OR somebody starts offering some 3D resin print bodies. Currently only H.O. scale is available that I could find. Fell in love with those things watching AussieTrainDriver's youtube channel.
Loving these virtual model railroad shows! Got an ice cold cup of Kirkland Signature coffee with 2 sugars, some chocolate syrup and whipped cream on top. Great for the summer months here in the Northwest.
Have a look at the Narrow Gauge Downunder Magazine. I though model trains were toys until I went to the first Narrow Gauge convention a long time ago, the standard of NG modeling in OZ is amazing. NG is great for those with less room for big layouts.
Man i have been really enjoying your videos. I havent seen them all but the bunch i have seen have been fantastic, enjoyable and very informative. Subscribed! Looking forward to more great content as i start out on my first layout since being a small kid!
You mentioned "eclectic". I 'm from Australia and have model trains that are North American, Australian, British & Brazilian in HO/OO & Japanese in N scale.
From what I've heard, the Aussies even have a pretty excellent manufacturer in the form of Auscision. They've apparently done consistently excellent work with their releases.
You have heard correctly. While we have quite a few manufacturers over here these days with more emerging every year, Auscision has definitely paved the way for model railways in Australia, particularly the South-East of the country (the states New South Wales as well as Victoria), and we would be a lot further behind without them. They continue to raise the bar with every new release.
@jimmyseaver3647 yeah their 92's look really nice, as they all do, unfortunately a bit too modern for me as I model the 60's so I have some of their 44's, 46's, 48's, 422's and 442's but they are definitely some of the nicest models I have, and have ever seen.
🎶 "Australians all let us rejoice..." I actually model UK OO mainly but I'm making a 4x2ft scenic board that I can add in to my OO layout. I'm hoping to get a Tait set and a few Aussie Steam locos and wagons to run. Oh and Hi to @WillJamesRailways
Another fabulous video Jimmy. Some great features. Nice to see some southern hemisphere stuff as I am originally from Southern Africa so the scenics mean more to me. It is also good to see that people are mixing European and North American stuff and not being too fussy about the origins of their stock. Just having fun. 🇵🇹🇿🇼🇿🇦
I think one of the weirdest locomotives from Australia, at least for me as an American, is the B class diesel. It looks like a double ended F unit and it just looks so cursed to my American eyes.
I do Australian passenger and frieght pacific national the old Australian national vr nswgr, union pacific nfs, nfw, some more American santefe bnsf etc English stuff like flying Scott’s man and mullard I’ll defiantly flick you footage and pics as I’m doing dcc with sound

I switched to Australia (mainly because of the details and the fact I'm Australian) gotta say the trains and aftermarket products are amazing.

@@mrcheeky1979 Yeah, I've been meaning to pick up one of their models. I'd definitely love to have a 92 Class in my collection (either PN or Aurizon).

3:35 Those covered hoppers are Japanese! (I have one of those myself.) Even more diversity in that layout!
One of those model rail road is mine

Hey Jimmy, is there a way I can send you pictures of my layout for the next virtual model railroad video?
