You should always care about what kind of dog you get. The breed does matter. Can you take care of dog that is highly engentic that it needs more than 6 hours of exercise. Can you handle a breed that more aggressive, independent (they don't always listen, and need a leader). What kind heath problems does it have where it needs special treatment. Since, you didn't do your research, you are stuck with very inbred, unhealthy dog. That could simply die by just jumping, you accidentally stepping on it and etc. And accidents do happen when owning a dog. The dog runs into things, you accidentally slaming its tail in a door. If you aren't going to do proper research to make sure you pick a dog for your lifestyle and take consideration of its needs. Then you should not get a dog.

@Music is Art Do you really think that a dog that small and with probably a lot of health issues is natural?? They heart is barely enough big to keep them alive. Think about it
We adopted a yorkie Pomeranian mix, thinking he was just the runt. Vet confirmed he was a teacup and wouldn’t grow more than 3 lbs 😭 I’m so scared for him so I’m trying to get as educated as possible.
This is somewhat misleading for people who know little about dogs. All the things you have stated are due to bad breeding and not due to the dog's actual size. No respectable breeder, for example, would allow a dog to leave its mother before it has reached 8 weeks of age, teacup or not. It'd be better if you made a video about problems which the dogs experience as a result of being teacup dogs, as that would be more truthful. This video should be called effects of inadequate dog breeding.
khushibee so I’ve been thinking about getting a teacup dog and I’ve been hearing about all these bad things if it was well bred would it still be unhealthy because of their size?
Ariana Ettinger In short, yes. They can have so many issues. As puppies, if not for their entire lives, they must be fed sugar in some form every few hours to prevent death. Too many of them die before they are a year old f om low blood sugar. If you are looking for a small dog, or particular breed, look into adoption. There are more of these dogs in shelters than you think. Some breeds have associations that are dedicated to helping them get adopted.
There is no such thing as a teacup poodle . They are bred with two sickly undersized dogs that is why there are so small. Toy Poodle .Doctors say common health issues for teacup dogs include hypoglycemia, heart defects, collapsing trachea, seizures, respiratory problems, digestive problems, and blindness. The breeding practices can also lead to an increased risk for liver shunts,
I just bought my teacup chihuahua yesterday I had no idea this is what their health is like but ig I can just watch out for his diet and more vets appointments
This is misleading because those diseases are caused by bad breeding or whatever, not their size or anything like that, you should get one so it will have a happy life.
I have lately been thinking about getting a teacup Maltese only because I just recently became allergic :( but I swear I will give that puppy the most normal life, best care, n love it needs🥺
ace trainer_zack if you want to buy then buy. If you want to adopt adopt. All dogs deserve a home and if you want to pay for a tcup dont let people tell you otherwise. Everybody is entitled to make their own choices
Candy Ray buying a dog if fine, not everyone needs to adopt. but if buying, you need to look for a reputable breeder. No reputable breeder would breed these type of dogs, same with exotic bullies. But buying, you’re encouraging breeders to continue this. They’re never going to stop if you give them money. It’d be best to get one in a way that wouldn’t be giving the breeder money. Otherwise, the cycle will continue. You wouldn’t be helping anyone.
As a little girl I always wanted one of this, because in the photos I saw I thought they were plush toys. The sad thing is that people treat them as plush toys.

This was very good information and certainly opened my eyes. I do not recall hearing anything about accidental injury to teacups should they be stepped on ... perhaps even life threatening ... sad to say. I now understand more why they would be more difficult to raise. I am currently looking for a pet and have always wanted teacup poodle. I now understand thanks to your video that perhaps I would be better off to look for a toy poodle rather than a teacup ... on the other hand ... should a teacup poodle be in my future then I agree with your comment that I would be more concerned with adopting them so that they could enjoy a life of being pampered, cared for and thoroughly loved.
The fact they can be accidently be hurt by you stepping on them is true due to their size, the one reason I would never want a teacup dog although they look cute. I can have my Shitzu and Maltese mix dog sleep next to me but could never do that with a teacup dog. People who get a teacup dog need to consider accidental injuries caused by them accidently stepping on their teacup.
ALL dogs come with health issues. I have had over 13 teacup dogs throughout my life and my gma had 8 all at once. They lived long happy lives. Some had medical issues but most didnt. Feed them right make sure they get Exercise and They should be fine
Rushiel Watson i have a teacup Chihuahua and Pomeranian breeder in my city but i dont think she has a website i will find out But if you go online and look up breeders. Make sure you do your research. ALOT of research. Also look at reviews. Dont buy from a breeder until you are 100000000% sure they arent a puppy mill or just evil people or inbreed their dogs
@@lasvegas89032 When you do find out please tell me know if she does. I been doing my research but all the breeders I come across are puppy mills like no.
Please don’t consider Teacup dogs. They are breaded so small that they have a lot of health issues. They suffer from it. When you consider a little dog than consider a small breed that is in its normal small size and not breed even smaller. For example consider a Havanese, Maltese or Yorkshire Terrier in their normal size. It’s still small, but not that small that it risks their health. Theses Teacup dogs are simply for the look and they have to suffer, because we want an even more cuter and little dog.
So please get a normal Pomeranian. Yes a normal one is 5-7 centimeters bigger or something like this. But the dog won’t suffer because of the size and still is cute. But when you only want a cute looking dog, I wouldn’t get one, because a dog should be seen as a great friend and not as a symbol, like oh look at my cute doggie.
I was going to buy a tea cup poodle so I decided to research it. I am shocked I just thought they were tiny dogs. I'm sickened by this. NO I will not get one now after hearing this. They should be illegal. Animal cruelty!!! So glad I researched it. Thank you.

Although the information in this video is helpful, I don't feel that all breeders are bad. I think this, just like any other decision, must be made by doing research and choosing a breeder who displays and can prove ethical treatment and breeding standards. Even standard sized animals can present with terrible birth defects and issues when bred improperly. I bought a teacup prior to seeing this video. I chose the person carefully. My dog is healthy (per the vet), I received a one year health guarantee, the dog came with first shots and a ton of advice about small dogs. He was placed on the top-of-the-line food prior to me buying him and I was advised not to change the food. Yes, there's some unethical breeders out there with a garage full of animals who live in cages. But there are also other breeders who do care about the animals. My teacup has never been placed in a cage nor were his parents. You get what you pay for. Do your research. Weigh all the options. Don't support unethical breeders.
No not all breeders it is UNETHICAL BREEDERS , which are the only ones that would purposely breed for this Not only do I breed yorkies .. i know alot of good breeders of other breeds but if someone calls me saying they want a Tea cup , I try and educate them if they don't want to listen they will not get a dog from me
Aight, y'all gotta calm down. First of all, yes the video has a point. But while it is true for some cases, it's NOT all. If you do RESEARCH and is getting a teacup pup from an ETHICAL, RESPECTFUL and LEGIT breeder, then it's fine. True ethical breeders truly care for these animals which is why it's better to do research on the breeder and pup you are getting. Talk to the breeder, personally see the pup and it's living environment and the pups parents before getting, and watch over the pup in its initial living environment. If conditions are bad or the breeder refuses, it's a red flag and you should check on that breeder or report. Because a true and ethical breeder would let you see the conditions and the initial living environment of the pup and the parents to prove that the pup you're getting is healthy and happy and that the breeder really cares for the animals and not just breeding for money. This video is mostly about breeding inadequacies. Even standard and purebred pups and dogs suffer from those conditions when they are inadequately bred. If you were planning on getting a teacup pup, then go for it if you really want to. Just make sure you're getting it from an ethical breeder and you should prolly look for other sources to help you because this video isn't that good of a source to base on whether you should get one or not. It's honestly kind of biased as they focused more on the breeding inadequacies of the breed that occur in all kinds of breed honestly. The teacup dog breeders arent all bad. Basically, do your RESEARCH people before you judge.
Any breeder can dress it up nicely. By the environment they keep the dogs in and all kinds of junk .. I know of more than one person that will breed females 2 and 3 lbs .. which should NEVER Happen and have puppies that fought hard to even make it to s yr old some made it to 4 years old with a very hard life, they can not even regulate their own blood sugar a d can easily die from that.. but yiu would not guess from seeing the conditions of her house or where the dogs are kept.. ppl need to pay attention and ask about other dogs bred , me and quite a few yorkie breeders will not even deal with a person demanding a "TEA CUP"

Teacup dogs are basically Runts That That are small but actually have a chance to grow to the normal size for example my cousin had a teacup dog and it grew to a normal size
People have been breeding all dogs for centuries you can get problems even with large breeds if bred wrong or to fast it is not breeding them but how it is done
I have a Morkiepoo who is teacup size. She wasn't breed to be this size. She was just born this way... at 8wks she was 1lb... now at nearly 2 years old, she is 3lbs.
The major fault with this type of dog is that while it sounds like an easy dog on paper, they are actually a lot to care for. It seems to me like all people want these dogs for are cute pictures or an accessory instead of an actual canine companion. I don't recommend getting a dog if you aren't ready to supply them with their basic needs. If all you want is an accessory than you might as well get a plush dog.

I agree because they discard the ones with undesirable traits and only breed the ones with tiny traits. Yet the problem comes from them breeding them with family. Most tend to use siblings to mate to make more. And since that’s done, less genetic diversity is there this causing the abnormal traits to arise more. Abnormal traits would include those health problems that were listed in the video. On another note this could also be seen in pure bred dogs since again they lack genetic diversity.
Its so sad i wanted a teacup because i wanted to have a little cute dog i can care of and make happy because i love dogs and its so sad that should be honestly illegal!

In my opinion I consider adopting or whatever you call what I’m doing is fine but I don’t think they should sell them. Also a lot of what this person said about breeding them is only true for breeders not registered with AKC. Those are normal fine but I still wouldn’t buy one.
I know everyone should adopt not shop, but the dogs to shop they have to go through breeding. And there so tiny that it seems wrong. My family is really thinking about adopting a teacup poodle. We’re not gonna treat it as just a bougie dog, we’re gonna give it a family he or she loves.

@Music is Art Sorry, and no. English is not my first language. Sorry if my message had way to much grammar errors
Music is Art did you not watch the video
We adopted a yorkie Pomeranian mix, thinking he was just the runt. Vet confirmed he was a teacup and wouldn’t grow more than 3 lbs 😭 I’m so scared for him so I’m trying to get as educated as possible.
We just got a puppy and she was the runt. She is 8wks but only 1 pound. We had no idea she would be so smal but she’s adorable
That isn't a teacup dog. These dogs are bred to be very small.
Well said!
khushibee so I’ve been thinking about getting a teacup dog and I’ve been hearing about all these bad things if it was well bred would it still be unhealthy because of their size?
Ariana Ettinger In short, yes. They can have so many issues. As puppies, if not for their entire lives, they must be fed sugar in some form every few hours to prevent death. Too many of them die before they are a year old f om low blood sugar.
If you are looking for a small dog, or particular breed, look into adoption. There are more of these dogs in shelters than you think. Some breeds have associations that are dedicated to helping them get adopted.
No responsible breeder will even breed these micro size dogs🙏
Like the smaller brain that sometimes can't support all of the body functions?
YES!!! THIS NEEDS TO BE WIDESPREAD KNOWLEDGE
Just so you know some of the info in this video is really misleading
Small types are cute. But this size are outrageously tiny.
A rat in my house is bigger than this
That’s not normal...
DaMn
There is no such thing as a teacup poodle . They are bred with two sickly undersized dogs that is why there are so small. Toy Poodle .Doctors say common health issues for teacup dogs include hypoglycemia, heart defects, collapsing trachea, seizures, respiratory problems, digestive problems, and blindness. The breeding practices can also lead to an increased risk for liver shunts,
I just bought my teacup chihuahua yesterday I had no idea this is what their health is like but ig I can just watch out for his diet and more vets appointments
it's not like you knew this stuff, at least you have the brains to know to take care of it more rather than just give it up
Respect ;)
It's ok you didn't know p.s. congrats on the puppy
Rescue/adopt/rehome but don’t support these breeders!
But that process is so long
ace trainer_zack depends on the location. Rescues take much longer than a shelter. people are always rehoming. pets.
ace trainer_zack if you want to buy then buy. If you want to adopt adopt. All dogs deserve a home and if you want to pay for a tcup dont let people tell you otherwise. Everybody is entitled to make their own choices
Candy Ray oh I’m looking for a chow chow

Callousedheart2 same😭😭
Callousedheart2 you should just so you can rescue it, but dont breed!
u can go for adoption , n offer a better life to any abandoned tea cup

My tea cup poodle had several of these issues and as much as I loved her, I would never get another tea cup.
How about when you take care of it super much will it get sick

"Why did you bring me into this world..."
More like "kill me" (ok sounds extreme) there are many cases where the brain can't support their organism due the size of the animal...
Imagine a baby using it's brain to Funktion a full size human being ...
Thank you i was abaut to buy a teacup poodle
I was looking to buy one but after watching this video I won’t buy teacup dog 😥
ALL dogs come with health issues. I have had over 13 teacup dogs throughout my life and my gma had 8 all at once. They lived long happy lives. Some had medical issues but most didnt. Feed them right make sure they get Exercise and They should be fine
Just like any other dog they need proper care to be healthy
@@lasvegas89032 Where did you get them. I have wanted one for so long
Rushiel Watson i have a teacup Chihuahua and Pomeranian breeder in my city but i dont think she has a website i will find out
But if you go online and look up breeders.
I plan on adopting a teacup pomeranian. I just want to know more first so I am prepared.
Same
Me ttooo
theyre abused to be small you should not support these bad breeders
This video is very interesting and appreciated.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
So cute and tiny!❤️❤️❤️
I was going to buy a tea cup poodle so I decided to research it. I am shocked I just thought they were tiny dogs. I'm sickened by this. NO I will not get one now after hearing this. They should be illegal. Animal cruelty!!! So glad I researched it. Thank you.
Keep in mind a lot of things you read online or misleading I have had over 13 teacup dogs mostly chihuahuas And all of them lived a long healthy lives
This is so true. I did a video about teacups on my channel earlier! They are totally misleading.
My friend has the same breed and height as the black dog but she has it in white and it looks dirty if she lets it walk too long
Thank you very much for the info. Excellent tips and advise.
They just use them for pictures 😭😢that’s so sad
I wanted one, but I don’t want it to suffer like that though

I’ve always loved them but dang
No not all breeders it is UNETHICAL BREEDERS , which are the only ones that would purposely breed for this Not only do I breed yorkies .. i know alot of good breeders of other breeds but if someone calls me saying they want a Tea cup , I try and educate them if they don't want to listen they will not get a dog from me
Very cute puppies but the care of them is more than I thought due to their breeding severity.
Can you recommend the next size dog for apartment.
Thank you so much! People want them because they think they are cute but it is wrong.
I wonder how to take the most special care so that they can live longer
Wow thanks for the information
Legit sites about Getting a tea cup will tell you the same
Exactly. This could be said for all kinds of dogs.
I really want one they are so cute
We had an accidental teacup in our last litter. They used to just be called the runt.

I just got one.. guess I have to prepare for hella big appointments
AnimeGirl 101 I just got a parti yorkie ( rare tri-colored). But I bought her at the “Mature” age of 7. So far she is doing great. I’m a little worried since I want her to live until she is 13-16 years old but this does concern me a bit. I love her to death 😫 and gl with you’re new dog! They are still wonderful pets to have. Just sad how inbreeding causes so much pain for the poor animal ):
Teacup dogs are basically Runts That That are small but actually have a chance to grow to the normal size for example my cousin had a teacup dog and it grew to a normal size
People have been breeding all dogs for centuries you can get problems even with large breeds if bred wrong or to fast it is not breeding them but how it is done
Do some research before you give your opinion.
These should be illegal.
people like you should be illegal
burymeinpink ikr?
Perfect Gemini kill their breeders
Sometimes it’s by accident. Breed two normal dogs can also make a teacup.
burymeinpink teacups are adorable wtf
I have one but I don't know how I got it mother 8pounds and daddy is 10pounds
I have a Morkiepoo who is teacup size. She wasn't breed to be this size. She was just born this way... at 8wks she was 1lb... now at nearly 2 years old, she is 3lbs.
Any health issues?
Do not let these dogs off leash and do not let them be alone anywhere who knows if a hawk or coyote is just waiting for an opportunity
These dogs are way too small for any leash.
Harnesses. Their necks are too fragile/ small for a leash 😆
Me: Oh such a cute dog may ill do some research,
*finds video,* "Oh God!"
It’s so cute.
What types of dogs is that?
They are so cute!!
That's what my mom said when she saw that dogs 😅 and read about them
I won't buy one. How cruel to breed these babies. How cruel to buy one.
How cruel we were hundreds of years ago to start selectively breed wolves to make the dogs of today.

Hi I love teacup dogs how much are these poodles or poms
I had a teacup Pomeranian puppy and she died yesterday at 4 months for liver problems and i researched about teacups and it said they are prone to death when they are young because of health problems. I only had her for 9 days😞
It is very sad, we are sorry for your loss. It really shows why this is an essentially cruel practice.
Pets are family members not propery or trophy‘s. Living beings aren‘t objects.
And i thought tea cup dogs would be perfect for me but it will make me deppressed if my tea cup died from one of those, so Do yall recommend me having a tea cup still?

Im planning of getting one so thank you?!
My teacup is 12 years old now. The only health concern she has is a Trachea cough
It's not 'genetic modification' it's selective breeding.
E.C. Animation i havent seen naturally occuring beagles to be this tiny..it is modification
On another note this could also be seen in pure bred dogs since again they lack genetic diversity.
im getting a teacup pug and french bull dog
I think you meant 7 inches not17.
Do tea cup dogs grow more than 17 inches 🐶🐶🐶

It looks like a tiny walking fried chicken 🥺❤️
Im getting a teacup dog Monday. This video is mostly stuff I already knew. The reason I’m still getting one is because I’m not buying it. I was looking for a standard Yorkie when a friend told me about her bosss dog a teacup yorkie who is 2 yrs old and she has to get rid of her. In my opinion I consider adopting or whatever you call what I’m doing is fine but I don’t think they should sell them. Also a lot of what this person said about breeding them is only true for breeders not registered with AKC. Those are normal fine but I still wouldn’t buy one.
What you are doing is not wrong at all there is a difference bless you hun
Oh no!! I had no idea 😢😭
I know everyone should adopt not shop, but the dogs to shop they have to go through breeding. And there so tiny that it seems wrong. My family is really thinking about adopting a teacup poodle. We’re not gonna treat it as just a bougie dog, we’re gonna give it a family he or she loves.
Hmm does anyone have REAL statistics of negative health (earlier year death rate, etc) of these teacups? I have heard a lot of speculations and theories, but most of actual owners say their teacups are super healthy...
There is an owner on the thread that said it too hers only lived 4 months died of a liver problem there are also alot of sites with vets talking about all the health problems as well
My sister has an average size dog , she's a labradoodle and has seizures. All size dogs can come with problems.
