- Modern Volvos are simple, luxurious, comfortable, and safe. They really make for some of the best highway cruisers.

As a first time Volvo Owner! my XC40 LITERALLY is super easy to drive, and comfy and just overall an amazing vehicle to drive on ROAD TRIPS! I take 2-3 times a month driving 3-4 hours one way! and I am relaxed and cocooned in a safety shell that is serene to drive! Also their sound systems are amazing! Also let's not also FORGET about their super comfy SEATS! and also the NVH is superb and are built solid!
Hi Kuya, did you get the electric one or gas? Enjoy in good health at any rate.
Charlie talks about Volvo lacking in spirited driving, which I agree with, but the electric versions deal with this easily.
I took an electric XC40 for a drive a couple months ago, and I got an instant face lift upon burying the pedal. I cant wait to see what they have coming for the XC60 and XC90.
I agree with with your thoughts on quality too. I am very picky, measuring panel gap and paint finish and whatnot (usually telltale signs of junk build quality), and the XC40 that I auditioned was like night and day after driving a Tesla Model 3. Model 3 felt unfinished, built to a budget, with a junk interior. The XC40 felt luxurious inside and out with impressive fit and finish. Perhaps a Model Y would have been a better comparison, though I still hear that the quality and interior are severely lacking, as per Model 3.
@@-Derp- personally I would road trip a Volvo over any TESLA because of the COMFORT! the seats on the Volvo are just superior! the NVH is superior! the interior fit and finish is superior! Also driving at night the interior lighting is subtle yet classy.
I literally have no annoying squeaks or rattles! even after going on a long 4000 mile road trip across the USA and visiting the New Mexico White Sands National Park and going through the rough pavement/terrain the car came out unscathed and to this day! 3 years and 30k miles the car is still SOLID. My 2020 Volvo XC40 Rdesign with the OEM 20inch wheels is holding up really well! My brother who has a early model 2022 Model Y Performance is thinking of giving his car to his GF and upgrading his car to a more established brand like Lexus, and get the redesign Lexus GX! Tesla acceleration is nice! but it wears out a bit and eventually becomes a one trick pony... yes the autopilot is a bit superior to Volvo Pilot Assist, but my Pilot Assist has never phantom braked on me during long stretches of driving.
I too am excited for volvo EV's but at the same time not too excited at the current prices for EV cars and limited mileage and no charging network like Tesla has.... going to hold off for now until EV is common and prices go down a bit :)
As a first time volvo Owner, I might become Volvo For Life!
Just traded in my XC40, which I loved, for a C40. I'm really loving my first EV. The ride is so smooth, and the comfort of the seats on a long commute cannot be beat.
That’s literally my dream car! I love them!
@@gian_m ya I’m blessed to own one! I plan to keep it for a long time! 😊☺️ I’ll only upgrade if needed but I plan to keep this Volvo for life! And maybe be a Volvo customer for life too
Civics are good too. I had a 2016 civic coupe and it was a charm even on the last trip with a bad wheel baring, it made it there and back home to chicago.
Nails it: any good sound system can play loud, the great ones can make the same impression on the lower volumes. I’m thoroughly impressed with the H/K in my C40 Recharge
I absolutely love my wifes XC60 for any type of drive. It’s the R-design so it has some slightly stiffer springs which makes it surprisingly fun to drive around corners. Its T6 drivetrain is way more than enough power for a crossover and is a bit of a sleeper. The self driving is pretty sweet too. Definitely beats my Mustang on comfort. Just wish her boyfriend would fill the gas tank after using it.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Safety is #1 reason, design, handsome exterior, b&w sound system, interior touches materials used etc, We love our XC60 !
If you get a Volvo, please just get the Bower and Wilkins speakers, I sometimes just sit and listen to songs in the car b/c the audio set up is that good
Hi, per Volvo’s website, you can select different drive modes:
Swipe from left to right across the screen in order to access the function view from the home view.
Press Drive Modes
Select the required drive mode to activate.
Hmm. He has Android version. No swipes in it. Driving modes are in Settings - Driving menu.
I had a 2004 V70 2.5T with over 260k on it. I absolutely loved it. I am looking to get a V60 soon. Amazingly comfortable. I’m hooked on them.
V60s are so perfect
We have a Model Y that kicks the crap out of us on long drives. Thinking of trading it for an XC60 Recharge.
Volvo has THE best most comfortable seats EVER ❤
Yeah the Model Y is loud, no way around it. And the ride is rough. But I do like how much space there is on the inside during trips. Very open.
Polestar 4 would be good. But it won't be out until 2024. Polestar 3 is very expensive. Polestars feel and drive like Volvos but are considerably sportier. XC60 is a nice hybrid though the "pure" mode, the EV mode, doesn't really offer that much power . If you dip into the accelerator the engine kicks in.
Just got the New Volvo v60 2023 recharge, love it!
Fully agree! I love driving my C40! As you rightly said, it‘s about the ease of driving! One wish I‘d have: a capacitive steering wheel
Just bought our first XC90 (T6 Inscription!) Absolutely the most enjoyable ride I have ever had.
Hi from the UK! V Excited, 1 week until I take delivery of my V60 Recharge (PHEV) T6 Ultimate Dark. Love the POV reviews.
I love my regular V60 T5 Momemtum ❤
Volvos are underrated.
Just bought our 2nd Volvo XC 60. This time stepped up to the 2022 B6 inscription with the Polestar option. I love BMW’s but the XC 60 offered more for less. And the mild hybrid makes the car operate so smoothly. This is the first car with the dreaded “start stop” function that I actually don’t mind. It comes on so smoothly, it’s hard to hear or feel! Great review!
You can disable it.
Volvo's are the best - we have had over 10 in our family over the last 20 years and they never disappoint! Keep producing quality, safe cars!
That B&W hi fi system sounds so good also.
I just ordered a V60 T6 hybrid (normal model, not CC). The main reason is comfort. I drive around 5000km a month so I prefer the more relaxed character. Since they have gotten really expensive I did have to cut back on options. So I didn’t get the B&W and settled with the HK stereo. I did however get the comfort seating package with nappa leather, massage and ventilation.
Positive for the hybrid is the power and the bigger fuel tank compared to the competition.
One downside is not having the driving modes, but I guess that is only during test drives.
Biggest downside: price. My config is at €76000 and to put it in perspective: you can get a BMW 530e touring with a decent equipment level for that money.
I love my 2022 S60 R design AWD, the ride comfort and the decent power from the B5 turbo 2.0. I just hate that it has a 112mph governor. Our previous leased 2019 XC60 T6 AWD was great with air suspension and that twin charged engine had good highway power, and the premium sound was incredible
Charlie: "hey Google"
My phone: *stops video* yes? Wanna take a note?
I've only driven 2 modern Volvos xc60 and xc90. Xc60 didn't feel soo special after driving the xc90 but both felt soo comfortable and relaxing
Drive mode still there.used to be the little rolling thing near the hand brake, now its moved to a sub menu in the big ipad style touch screen
What about 1/2 gas trucks? What’s your choice and trim level ( that you would buy ) Smoothest riding? RAM, Denali?
Most comfortable seats?
Biggest cabin?
You find a 2023 V60 Polestar to review? Wife is loving hers. Amazing road trip car and fast. Needs better stock tires though.
Everyone has been putting this interface down but none are giving voice commands. Maybe they don't know? This is great, I was going to pass on Volvo bc of the interface. But if I can give voice commands, I'm all for it.
My 2015 xc60 r design has 210,000 miles, no problems ever
I would love to see an S60 Bowers and Wilkins review if that’d be possible
I'm not as enthused w/ the current gen volvos as you are. I grew up in a 89 760GLE and my parents later got a 08 s80 T6. Both were great cars and were generally much less than the german counterparts. My parents test drove the current gen xc90 and s90 many times when they first came out. But this gen prices have gone up a lot , and we didn't feel the the cars were nice enough to command the higher price. The 4 cyl was always intrusive and coarse. The ride was brittle, even w/ air suspension. And the road noise and wind noise were loud. Initially, they didn't have carplay and the infotainment was difficult to use and laggy. It didn't have the overall refinement that the price commanded. And the reliability is also very questionable.
I see your points. I think they had some weird transition years in the 2010s, but the newest crop have been really solid. This V60 felt nicer inside than the GLE 53 we just had. I think many luxury brands are cost cutting, so the tide is almost lowering down to Volvo's level.
The problem with volvo is once you own one you will be hooked to volvo
you’re given a press car to drive and enjoy, yet your not paying for it or responsible for the maintenance or upkeep. I know you enjoy the car but at what cost? The question is, would you shell out 60 grand or just go buy a Toyota or Honda for half the price?…. but is it reliable or expensive to maintain long term?
Volvo is a luxury brand, Toyota or Honda are not. You pay for luxury. And with that comes luxury maintenance costs.
How is the reliability though? I don't think Volvo is high on the list.
At least where im from (finland) volvo is one of the most reliable brands you can get.
I have a 2007 C70 with about 215,000 miles. Great car!
@@Ozefan2580 mine is an s60 with 320 000 km and still going strong.
V60 all the way
too expensive man. thats why im going with the outback.
same level of ride, less luxury but more durability / reliability
Volvos are built to last
Nah, I want a knob for temperature, period.
Lexus ES has entered chat😂
My brother just traded his Lexus ES, after only five months of ownership, he didn’t hate it, but he didn’t love it either, for him is was just “meh”, he previously had a Volvo, which loved it and regretted getting rid of it.
ES is definition of meh.
in italy, i ordered a v60 in december 2021, it was supposed to arrive in june 2022 but they postponed delivery from time to time. a shame. and volvo italia gave no explanation other than to speak of a pandemic and a war in progress ... I do not know that Italy is at war with anyone. when they told me I had to wait another three months and there was no certainty about the timing, I canceled the contract ....
very bad experience with this brand.👎👎👎
So since you love Volvos so much and you only use them for road trips, why don’t you buy one?
Almost did! But we can't really justify spending that much on a car.
Am told the xc60 have lots of road noise and cheap plastics interior
Thats awful fuel economy for a hybrid
It’s not a hybrid, just a regular gas engine
it's a MILD-Hybrid! not a full hybrid system.
It's pretty sad when naturally aspirated engines get better milage.
The mild hybrid exists more for smoothness than efficiency.
Laughs in lexus nx 2022 💪
You may be a top car reviewer, but keep your hands on the wheel and stay in control of your vehicle. Influencers like you create bad habits.
The reliability on Volvos is horrendous. I can't take anyone seriously if they recommend one. There are way too many other, better choices.
Give us examples
We have a 2016 v60. Zero issues. A joy to drive.
