What no one ever mentions is the incredible music in this film - dramatic and slightly melancholic, perfectly mirroring Louise’s fraught, confused mental state.
Wonderful film indeed. One of the best Crawford movies. She is splendid and the script is so well written. I saw the film many times. A truly Classic 👍
Wow! What a great analysis of this movie. Only The Great Diva could make two completely unrelated movies, both great, with the same title! 😍😍 Thanks for posting.
I wonder, when did they stop making film noirs (or is it films noir)? I'm curious because it seems like certain black-and-white films from the 60s might qualify, such as "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane," etc.
oh, they haven't stopped making them...chinatown, body heat, basic instinct, the last seduction, the usual suspects, l.a. confidential, sin city...every now and then we get one of them!!!

Crawfords noir films were her best!!!
Certainly "Mildred Pierce" is one of Crawford's best, if not the best, and one of greatest of the genre.
This is an amazing film. Crawford deserved the Oscar.
Crawford's noir films are such perfect vehicles for the noir genre, in addition to being stunning visual masterpieces.
Such a fabulous movie. One of Joan's best❤

Your not meant to dwell in the darkness anymore than a person NOT EVOLVING
the other possessed is so much better no VAN JOHNSON
Did you mean Van Heflin?
The 1931 Possessed pairs the Queen and King, Clark Gable. Hard to beat that. Joan's sexy as heck in the earlier Possessed!
