    This is great as a Christian raised in church and a wife of a minister just realized that we need to pray more for our leaders because struggles are real and the more we make church a safe place to share struggles it heals more because people can relate and get help

      Irene Rollins seems lovely. And when she said her husband threatened to leave her if she didn't get help, I was like ...?.... what?!!!He doesn't sound like much of a preacher, a loving husband, or even a Christian. The BIBLE says love endures ALL things. The BIBLE also says LOVE covers a MULTITUDE of sins. Where is the love of Christ in Jimmy's life? My heart breaks for Sister Irene with a self righteous so called preacher for a husband. Did Jimmy try to get Irene help? Did he pray and fast for her? I wonder. Actually, I doubt it all together. All I can say is Jimmy better hope he never finds himself failing in his flesh, cause Mrs. Rollins could say the same thing of him, oh wait, no she couldn't. Because she is an example of a real Christian. Plus she is beautiful too. Jimmy, ummm, I'm not sure what they could do with you, cause... nope, imma have to stop there. I said my peace, and I mean every word of it.

      It is a choice first and foremost..what many alcoholics really need is therapy to work on whatever made them drink in the first place

    • @ladyblackbgb
      @ladyblackbgb Рік тому +3

      @@justinethomas5020 addiction is not a choice… no one takes a drink and says I want to ruin my life with a drink. Most people take a drink and never have issues with the substance, others drink and the substance takes control of their life. So no, I disagree, it’s not a choice.

    • @Seers2you24
      @Seers2you24 Рік тому +3

      The first drink is a choice. Can't rationalize, justify, or deny. It is a fact. The lack of impulse control and narcissism goes with the diagnosis as any addict is a narcissist. Narcissism which fuels their addiction of choice. They are consumed with themselves and care for no one, that's the disease process. Enablers are those that keep on providing an environment,where the addict can continue the abuse. Co dependent on the addict emotionally. Personal and professional experience. It's over the top when addicts think that staying sober deserves glory, glory, still seeking that attention gratification. Smh.

      You don't know me, but I'll say this: I eventually had to go to rehab (right when Covid hit) and I'm 2 plus years sober. Please, please go. It will put some words behind the disease that we share. It will help flush out the reasons you drink (I can bet you don't drink because you like it anymore). And it will then help you deal with whatever you discover.. I found my therapist (who I still use to this day) in rehab. Don't worry about the stigma of rehab. Not everyone has to know you've gone. But it will help save you. You can do it. I promise you.

    I still attend the church Jimmy and Irene used to lead. She's not just talking like this on this platform, she and her husband have a rawness and authenticity that is so rare amongst church leaders. They genuinely don't like people acting holy around them, they push people to address the root of their dysfunction.
    This platform is just God's response to her faithfulness on a much smaller stage. Congrats

    I applaud this pastor for finding the strength to live, get help and save her marriage and family. What a testimony! I pray she achieves much success, as she shares her testimony, and empowers others to seek healing and help.
    In March of 1982, a coworker and I became fast friends, and eventually best friends. We were living in NYC at the time. She was from Jamaica West Indies, and I am of Caribbean descent. We used to go clubbing weekly, and hang out after work for Happy Hour. I could never embrace alcohol culture, so one drink was my limit. Every time my friend and I hung out, she would get smashed...pissie drunk, to be specific. I always ended up making sure she got to her Harlem apartment safely, while a cab driver waited for me to return to the car, so he could take me home in the Bronx. My friend was in denial she was an alcoholic. When I became a mom in 1983, and a Christian in 1985, I didn't want to hang out with her anymore. In recent years, her alcohol addiction grew to 2 bottles of wine with dinner every night. She got married and has 2 grown children. Over twenty years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Doctors told her there was a link between excessive wine consumption and breast cancer. She didn't believe the doctors or the science. Her husband gave her an ultimatum. She chose wine. He remarried 2 years ago, to a woman who is a Christian minister. My now former friend has subjected their children to years of emotional and psychological abuse. The son put his life on hold to move back home and care for her. Here she is now, at age sixty-one, still drinking wine, and dealing with an additional health issue. The breast cancer metastasized to her brain. Her doctor asked her to look into hospice care. It's a no for her. She's at home with her son and her wine, denying she is going to die within a year or two. Their daughter is away at college. My former friend was one of the smartest people I knew, built a few businesses from the ground up, but doesn't believe she's an alcoholic. Everyone else is ther problem. Alcoholics don't realize, when they drink, everyone around them is symbolically drinking too. I haven't seen my former friend since 1998, and we haven't spoken in years. It's a shame the friendship had to end over something like this.

    Makes me concerned about issues like alcoholism, drug abuse, sex addiction and more, not being discussed in Church. Raising awareness on these issues at such an important institution, should be integrated intentionally, since a lot of congregants might be suffering in silence. Finally, safe spaces should also be created within the Church, to offer counseling.

      Amazingly, most churches have plenty of support for parishioners. But when you are clergy or church leadership, people think you have all the answers, your life is near perfect and that isn't true. But people in those positions feel pressure to perpetuate the false idea that because you are called to leadership, you are always living a happy life.

      And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.
      Jeremiah 3:15
      You have to be accountable to a person. ( Not just any person, but one who is rightuoness).
      You will have to listen to more massages and read the Bible more often than ever. Let talk more.
      Also most times the reason we struggle with things is mainly because we haven't burnt those bridges. For instance you see someone wanting to be free from immorality still going to clubs and looking at irresponsible things on socials while still expecting to miraculously cut off from it. Burn the bridge, cut off from your alcohol source entirely, stay far away from places and people you know will entice you to drinking, cut off friends that cause you to stumble because we can't overcome sin and addictions while still hanging out with bad company. Also, sleep early. You mustn't do Bible studies at night, it's more edifying when it's the first thing you do when you wake up and your mind is still fresh. So try doing it in the morning.
      Lastly pray and ask God to change your taste buds and desire.
      Make the effort, God sees our efforts and crowns it and gives us grace

This needs to be spoke about in the open more in these times we are in.
    I CELEBRATE YOU BEAUTIFUL WOMAN OF GOD. GLOOOOORY HALLELUJAH THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!! LOVE YOU WITHOUT JUDGEMENT. ALTHOUGH I DON'T KNOW YOU, I WILL keep you in my prayers. I love your story!!! We are no different from those who struggled in the Bible, GOD cleaned them up and used them. Also those he used with self-esteem issues.
    Prophetess Ms. Alice.

    Good Morning. I love when People get their lives together to better who they are for themselves and not others. I have learned that the only Person you can truly please first is Yourself. In order for you to be any good for anything or Anyone. You have to love Yourself from within because doing things for all these other personalities of People will cause you to crash and have a breakdown. Whatever you can live with with Yourself, live proudly. Whatever you feel you need to work on with Yourself to live in peace, just do it. Do not be worry about where or what a Man is doing every five minutes. That is high blood pressure. Do not be worried or concerned with what other Women have that are younger or older than you. That is plastic surgeries. Love and hug Yourself. You are worth the love you give Yourself from within. Thanks for sharing.

      Psalms 139:23-24
      [23]Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
      [24]And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.
      Make this Psalm a prayer Sister. The Lord is close to those who are desperate for him...how desperate are you?
      The cure for any addiction is addiction to the word and spirit of God. You do this by
      1. Read your bible daily
      2. Pray all the time
      3. Attend church meetings and be part of a bible believing church family
      4. Be accountable to a senior Christian who would love and guide you into the truth
      All of these things are centred around the word of God though. That's what informs your prayer, why you read your bible and why you should go to church
      The word itself is a substance just like alcohol. You can drown and get drunk in it especially with the help of the spirit of God (which the Bible even likens unto wine in terms of getting drunk)
      The word washes us clean and makes us free, start using the word to clean your mind.
      Can we talk more? I'd love to be of help to you

    Women cannot be pastors.
    Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect

    I want to quit so bad , y’all pray for me. I don’t drink everyday but every Friday when I get off I drink my life away and I end up being completely unproductive all weekend and I’ve even been once to one of those I.V. Clinics to replenish me because I felt like death one Saturday. God help me get rid of this Friday trigger that tugs at me please!!!!

      Hello.
      You need some practical steps to help you overcome this.
      One i would suggest is a change of company.
      I suspect you go with friends to the bar or something.
      Attach yourself to godly company, find some godly church that meets on Fridays after work and get commited.
      I should love to offer more advise in this to overcome this if you reach out.

      In Jesus name...
      Father Lord this is my prayer, that your child AmazingGrace will find freedom from her addiction to alcohol and become drunk only on the spirit of God. Lord I pray Psalm 139 for her:
      Psalms 139:23-24
      [23]Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
      [24]And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.
      Lord let this be done for her through Christ. Amen
      Sis, life is hard I know and we all want to cope. Sometimes in coping we get into habits we can't control. I advise you to do this: first you need to change your mind as see that alcohol is not a source of satisfaction or a coping mechanism
      The best coping mechanism is fellowship with your father in heaven and his son Jesus. How do you that?
That Friday night you always go to drink? Find a church that will hold meetings on Friday and always check up on you to cone
      Infact, I know a church perfect for this...can we talk some more? Hit the blue icon to reach out

    She’s so right, alcoholism is very sneaky! I was dating an alcoholic, and didn’t know it in the beginning. I myself went from not liking drinking alcohol. I didn’t grow up with or around it. To drinking wine and fruity mixed drinks with him, that he introduced to me. But then I noticed that as soon as he got home daily I would go for a drink. Then I started having a drink and he wasn’t around! Finally, I confronted myself and stopped. But noticed that he drank every day! I had to leave him. Alcohol is so socially acceptable that you just have to be careful!
