I just realized how much I appreciate that you harp on the price point of fragrances. Especially when the common Man & Collector has budgeting limitations. Interlude takes me straight back to the East… instantaneously. I’d paid a $100 more for it just because of the therapeutic connections it always brings me.
Yea i have some fragrances like that too man... the reason I think price is relevant (although 100 to me is viewed differently than the millionaire) is there are so many great cheap costing frags that when a Roja or Amouage wants 100s (or even thousands) it better be damn good juice 😊
@@RamseytheRam Exactly! Now my great snob towards Amouage and houses like them is they ALWAYS price their fragrances at $350ish regardless of the chemistry, recipe, and scent. So are they holding back or ….. just being pretentious. ?
Isn't it wonderful that fragrances can emit such a reaction in us? They go beyond just something that smells nice. You really got an association that encompassed many senses firing off inside you and took you away from 'now'.... if only for a brief second or two. Best of all, there's more out there, enjoy the ride!
You are absolutely right. There is often such beautiful meaning/s in customs. And symbols are so powerful … the rug … the welcome with the coffee, and so many others!
Nice to see that you finally found something from those samples that you really like :) If you like Diaghilev you have to try Baz and Abjar, actually all of second generation are incredible, maybe they are a bit overpriced but all of them are unique and high quality to justife the price a bit at least. Narjesi is perfect represantation of taif rose and so far the best rose scent I ever put my nose on, Diwan is like Majalis but much more oudy and smoky, Aamal is the crowd pleaser something in between Intense Cafe and Fakhama with much more oud, Durra is the most crazy one because its heavy aquatic oud/musky scent and Haibah is smooth chocolaty oud/patchouli with taif rose, it similar to Oud from 1st gen but much more smoother and better overall
I cant wait to sniff some of those 2nd gen fragrances... hopefully soon I will find a way to get my nose on them... but I am currently in the midst of a no buy july & I dont want to break it 😂
I haven't purchased anything on Jomashop. I did see Bel Ami Vetiver there, and then it was gone. I did some BBB searching on the company, and I did notice a number of problems, in fact, many on customer service and returns. Lots of complaints with watches. On Trust Pilot, they do message the low scores. Majalis. MaaxAroma. 475. If you can wait for triple points, and or niche sale, it might be helpful. Max does sales. They did have a tester of it for 400. It's gone though. I have a couple attars with dates mixed in from Ensar. Love it. Thank you for the review.
Agreed. Oud and Majalis are tops from the first generation... For me I feel like the brand evolves in the second generation for the better. Baz, Haibah and a few others..... And on your memories of the Middle East are spot on ... I've traveled all over the Middle East. Many times. Israel... Egypt... Petra.... The environment and the history are moving to be sure but it's the people the made those trips magical for me... Keep up the good work my friend ✌🏻
The irony that shaking the cup/glass/bottle has the exact opposite connotation here in the west. 😄 It's interesting, "kawa" literally means coffee in Polish. I wonder where the word originated? 🤔 Another great vid Ramsey!
That is interesting.. qahwa and kawa and even java share some similarites ....its funny but we really do have more in common than we have differences 😊
I wear my cheap collection to bed for aro.a therapy. I say cheap because I mostl just have designer and some vintage colognes. I can't imagine having the ability to wear some of the wonderous perfumes and scents in your collection to bed. The aromatherapy must be magical. WOW
My criticism of Majalis includes the same as for the other two Ive tried from this house - Baz and Turath. It's the house way. Use a billion notes. But as with Turath and Baz, I wish Majalis had more of a defining direction beyond just the deep, rich melange of a billion notes. It's as if all those notes were just put in a blender and pureed without much artistic direction from the perfumer. And with Majalis, the melange has a lot of screechy sweet fruit notes: strawberry, raspberry, peach , apple, that predominate in the opening and into the mid. And it's a bit irritating, in addition to the seemingly pointless composition. The screechy fruit does mellow as it dries down, settling into a more pleasant melange. Fragrances with fewer notes seem to more often have a direction, a point, with an accord structure that defines it with a statement. Spirit of Dubai fragrances seem to be all about the puree of notes. The melange. And as noted below, density. Density has merit in and of itself, but it would be better with more shape, purpose and direction. It's like comparing a full orchestra with all instruments just playing what they want all at the same time, and a string quartet playing Barber's Adagio for Strings. What is Majalis about other than a dense melange? Turath is my favorite so far.
Ya they are like the middle east version of Roja dove....basically you just get arabic coffee/ dates / oud & ann arabic oriental accord / incense & some fruty-ness but it is very very well done... this might be my fav one so far 😊

Ohhh i dont know enough about the brand to speak on Spirit of Dubai reforms 🤷♂️
Sorry... i can tell you it is one of my favs from the brand 🙂
