Couldn't think of a UA-cam name. Oh haha well my b. I assumed you weren’t cuz it took me like 10 videos to figure out how they do all these different things
So I am going to ask what everybody else is thinking: how does the filter system work? I can see how the well works and I think that it is well designed and constructed. It’s actually quite smart how it’s made and I applaud the creator for coming up with such a simple yet effective design and functionality. How does the filter system work? I didn’t spend a lot of time rewinding the construction video over and over to assess how it works, since I figured asking would be the simplest way to figure it out. Thanks in advance for your response!
This is a good first stage filter, but definitely needs a second stage and a third. The second could sit in that smaller tub. Consisting of a layer of moss on top of a medium coarseness dirt that has been cleaned of junk like sticks, on top of crushed charcoal at between 1/8-1/4 of an inch in size. This should clear a majority of the discoloration. Just don't expect a cup of clean water in less than a minute. The final stage is simply to boil the water. Replacing the "filters" in the first and second stages should be at least once every other week. Since this is a crude method of filtration, this frequency of cleaning isn't that bad when your health is at risk.
Them people probably have a really high immune system he doesn't need much more filtering for him to enjoy drinking slightly cleaner water. That water may probably harm US because we pussies.
Exactly, as cool as this video is to watch, the filter this guy has made won't prevent you from picking up any harmfull bacteria or parasites. Now the chance of picking up parasites from ground water are probaply little to none, but there are plenty of very harmfull or even fatal bacterial species which live in the soil. The commercially available filters which are meant to filter out parasites and bacteria have much smaller pores of diameter channels compared to what this guy is using, its going to be pretty useless. And the charcoal he made isn't even true charcoal but rather just burned wood, and it definitely isn't activated charcoal, the stuff they use in addition to sub micrometer filters to filter out harmfull chemicals. Activated charcoal is made by a special process where all the pores are opened up thus creating a huge surface area, you can't recreate those conditions in your own home, let alone in the jungle. Other then that its a cool idea though, and there is a different and fairly well known way how you can make an improvised water filter in nature: using a large amount of moss to filter it, depending on the type of moss ofcourse.

lmao all the butthurt people throwing hate from the back of their computer screen sitting comfortably in a warm home with running water on tap. Yes this is a water filter. Furthermore, the charcoal is added because it has purifying traits that captures some bacteria etc. You can study the biological and chemical details yourself. Does it make it 100% clean? No. Would it be wise to boil it before drinking? Yes, especially if your body's immune system is not adapted to the bacteria in this environment. However, the purifier system still does the job it is intended for. It purifies the water enough for it to be at least drinkable for someone who is accustomed to the bacteria in that environment, and the risk of illness is highly reduced compared to the raw source. And if they do I want to rent from them they build better homes out of bamboo dirt and rock that I live in now
I wonder why others are not being taught this? This is actually smart especially if you live in a isolated area of the world.

Umbreon Thunder and for the money earned from the video.
MasterCrander dude, no ones gonna be building that for drinking water on a normal routine, this is if you are stranded somewhere or in s post apocalyptic scenario
MasterCrander couldn't agree more, but let's clear this up, he probably isn't educated, or at best may have finished school, can't expect much from a guy like that can you ?
Definitely agree on your medicinal concerns, but chances of dying due to gastrointestinal Disease compared to dying by dehydration is bleak at best. Although definitely a concern. His materials are perfect but his method per say maybe wrong, but gives people a basic idea of how filtration works. And let's be honest, people have always mixed up other people's ideas, or more precisely made changes in them to make them more suitable. You are definitely correct, although I may change a thing or two. Cheers
Easy thing to say when you live in a country with indoor plumbing and water treatment plants. For some people, this is the technology they get to work with
What a talent ! All natural!!
