When my father was young, he and his family were in a car accident. This was before seatbelts were mandatory--the 70s. They had a German Shepherd with them. As my dad was flying out of the backseat of the truck, his dog grabbed his arm and "caught him" in the air and ended up taking the brunt of the fall and saving his life. My dad still has the scar. Unfortunately, his dog died a few days later, but my grandparents still speak of Barron fondly.

Elephants are SUPER smart! One time, an elephant was treated for an injury at a clinic before being returned to its herd. Many, many years later, another elephant from that herd was being hunted by poachers and went to that same clinic looking for protection. The original elephant wasn't there - apparently the first elephant had communicated that this was a safe place to the rest of its herd, so they were able to find the clinic later when they needed help!
