- In this video I'm going over companions for new players in Neverwinter. This guide goes through the mechanic post companion rework. I also make some recommendations on some companions to look for in the game.

Hello again sister guildmate. Since last we spoke I've gotten a fresh character to 77. Having a good time and enjoy watching your videos for the info that's changed or that I've forgotten.

As a new player, the most useful companion by for me has been the energon. Combine That with my Cleric Artifact and my AP fills up super fast. I Prefer a healing role and it's always nice to be able to almost freely use my daily. Other then that my other companions are just uncommons and commons I picked up for cheap with gold and AD. Currently sitting at 17% bolster. Also been spamming dungeons like mad because the final chests have a chance for companion tokens and because of the healer role bonus for AD and spending seals on bags of RAD. I want the Energon to be my first Legendary and mythic, possibly followed by the snake lady. Idk what companions to get as a healer I just browse the auction to looking for something that might help and save up and buy it.
energon is great. i have one myself. im switching it for an owl though for the awareness. For a healer, I recommend getting a polar bear cub. it gives outgoing healing and defense.

@@annabaelfire2173 off the auction house. was expensive but a great bonus for healers. its also found in the New Life lockbox, but its only a chance for it.

@@ChuChuAndAhBa With the Energon which is an epic, and my artifact which is rare, while I'm healing usually my AP refills about every 2 min give or take if I use my AP on CD. The artifact gives me 10% AP over 15 seconds and The Energon gives me about 10-15% per mob group when out of combat. While in a healer role my AP also recharges while doing damage and healing. So I can use healing word which ticks a small amount of AP every 3 seconds while using Sacred Flame and then using other spells as needed.
Okay, so I now have a general understanding of what companions are. Now what I'm missing a bit is how to start. What's the first companion to go for that should actually be upgraded, for example. I don't feel like it's worth it for the starting one, but also don't know of all those available which one would be the most cost efficient (playing Hellbringer). Getting some advice on that would be much appreciated
Before some of the starter companions were useful, but with new companions coming out the meta changed a bit. sorry for replying so late, but I would look for comps that can help boost crit and/or crit severity. The Lightfoot thief, Black Dragon Ioun Stone, and Hawk are pretty good for covering those.
I remember playing Neverwinter, but since I'm not really. Good. At video games. I just imagined my own story, of this one Rogue (if I remember that class' English title correctly), who had their mind set on _assassinating the frickin' Lord Protector_ but just kinda played along with the main plotline, until they got a companion, it was a Man At Arms, I think? I don't think I got that far into Neverwinter's MMMORPG side, pretty sure I dropped out of it somewhere around the sky pirate section of the storyline, but those Rogue and Man At Arms became my own characters, and I'm thinking of making a small story with them.
Genuinely impressed with the amount of knowledge and terminology you were throwing around here. Maybe it's my dumb baby brain, but it's just nice to see people offer guides and explanations for this game. It's neat. :-)

@@Clawblade Keep on the Borderlands was module B2 and includes the caves of chaos. Perhaps the most popular of the first edition modules.
I love how mod 13 to 17 the chultan tiger was king, the augments now xuna and the Abyssal chicken. Now the tiger can be out dpsed by a dwarven rager in single target and some Aoe.
I never used the chultan tiger but a friend of mine did and loved till others became more useful.
I've been using a ranged dps. I was using the man at arms companion so he can tank while I dps. Which companion should I be using
It depends on the content youre running. Ive found that if youre running a trial, use the pseudodragon for single target damage. If trying to clear mobs faster use an aoe comp. I believe the succubus is a good one to have still.

I have a question About the companion that I need to have I saw videos about energon apparently is really good, at that time was 25k of ad now is 50k. Is worth? thank you so much. Yes Energon is a great one to have. The massive boost to hp is always nice. Having said that, its only able to be slotted into utility (Green) slot for the bonus, and as a dps you might do better with an alpha compy in their. Its is way more expensive but will help increase your damage. energons arent expensive so maybe use it till you can get a compy.

Are you referring to the companion bonuses tab where you can slot five powers from other companions? It is still there under the companions section, third tab over.

@@ryanneathery6808 im guessing you're running a fighter class when you say warrior, Np. If youre playing as a dps fighter, i recommend using a striker type companion. A companion that also attacks (some don't attack at all). Doesn't have to be anything high tier right now but one that attacks will help your damage output. Some good ones I've seen used are the incubus, succubus, abyssal chicken (was nerfed however), and Minsc (personal bias).

Buying one, you can go to the auction house and buy out with astral diamonds. You can also find them randomly in dungeon chests at the end. You can sometimes get them in events and lockboxes too but those are every so often. To equip them/summon them, just go to the companion tab on your character sheet and press the "summon companion" button at the bottom.
I’m new to the game, I was looking for a good mmo game since I’m always playing fps which I got tired of. Is it worth investing time in?
honestly, the games alot of fun, but you will have others that have different opinions. Ive been playing this game since launch. if you have a group or friends that you play with it will help give you a better experience.
When can u add companions equipment like the profane runestone
They can be added as early as you obtain them. There's no level requirement to equip.
I know this is late but I think we need to see Dark Sun
Would interesting to how they would implement other worlds like that. As ling as it can conform to the current gameplay, it should be pretty awesome to see that
I've been playing neverwinter for a while now and the one thing I'm curious about is how many companions can you have summoned at a time
You an have one summoned at a time, but you can use five for their equip powers on the companion bonuses tab.
@@Clawblade it would be handy if you could summon 3 companions to make a group of 4,it's a shame you can't do that it would've been handy last night I was in a group quest and the rest of the group quit mid quest and I ended up having to face a red dragon on my own
@@samanthapatrick4345 damn that really sucks. As useful as having more companions summoned, they wouldn't be as good as replacing actual players. I know it can still be frustrating.

This probably is a dumb question but, how do you summon the companion?
Open up the companions page and press the button that says summon companion. On xbox it is the 'X' button.

Companions you summon from the companion page and pets through your inventory
So they can't keep aggro while you are playing solo??
Not really. Only because its dependant on what deals more damage that procs aggro and you will always do more than companions

Neverwinters a great game but they don’t tell you how too do basic things like Summon an op anion
It tells you in the companion page at the bottom. Press to 'Summon'

How can I have more than one companion follow me around. Can I have more than one?
Only one companion at a time, but you can also summon a vanity pet as a follower. Just head on over to the fashion tab in your inventory.
Where can I find new companions?
Many places. Zen market, auction house, dungeons, and trials, some can be found in surprise bags in Vallenhas too.
This doesn't really apply to the video but what's with the campaign? How long does it go? I fought the one lady when I tried to enter the guild, did I kill her? Because now it wants me to go the the ashen battlefield and do stuff there? Is this still all apart of the campaign? I see another of other areas that haven't been unlocked as well...
Those are seperate campaigns. New zones that were not travelled in the main adventure have their own campaign tied to them. Going to ashen battlefield unlocks the dread ring campaign. Check your campaign tab in the journal. That is where you can begin new stories and zones.
@@Clawblade ok, but I will be able to go to all other zones. Do I need to buy any dlcs for anything? How does leveling work? I'm level 20 but I feel like I'm stuck at gear score 17,000. Will I be able to get new gear in the different zones?
Sorry, I've just got so many questions about so many thing I just don't understand.
@@greenbaypitbull3900 haha its all good. No, all expansions and modules are free you can visit these new stronger zones to get better gear. Some do have an item level requirement meaning you need to get the required IL before gaining access. Normally this only applies to more recent zones, like sharandar.
@@Clawblade what are legacy campaigns? How can I keep increasing my gear score ive beaten the lady. I feel like I'm just kinda stuck at 18000.

@@greenbaypitbull3900 lol ask away buddy its all good. Legacy campaigns are older campaigns. They're easier to run than the latest ones. They also are considered for legacy quests which you can pick up 2-3 per week near neverember in the enclave. I cant remember the name of the vendor though.
How to summon your companion
Go to the companion tab and hit the key indicated at the bottom (X button on xbox).
How do i use then on xbox
Just head on over to the companion page from your character sheet. Once there, press X to summon one.

Alot has been adjusted since they introduced the tutorial and early game rework. Many quests and features will unlock much earlier.
my build is high dps low crit i cant crit that sub saddly
haha well thats alright. it doenst have much health, and falls to even your most basic attack.
Has the companion training option been removed?
Yes. You no longer have to level up and train companions. They are always ready to upgrade to the next quality provided you have enough AD or companion upgrade tokens.
@@Clawblade Do they get their new appearance when you upgrade?
@@filip7527 You either get them all right away now or a new one unlocks when you upgrade quality. I haven't looked into that yet

How did you get wings?
I caved and bought them off the Zen store lol. it was the only item I was interested in since the redeemed citadel launch. I felt it was worth it.
@@Clawblade I just downloaded the game on PS4 haven't started yet but doing my due diligence on the game I'm thinking Tank/Paladin first then Dps Warlock for my second character

@@Clawblade Tiefling is my choice for my Warlock. Torn between Dwarf and Half Orc for the Paladin( probably punk out and just a human)
