These videos are amazing man, so helpful in determining whether to hang on to a piece of gear or not. I also enjoy the fact that you try to give every item the benefit of being useful in self found run since that's basically what I'm doing right now.
Such an amazing video/guide, wow. I'm amazed by the detail you put into the whole series. I love every single location where you showcased each set, it also shows a lot of detail that the graphic designers put in which I hardly noticed before. You were also very thorough with every mod to every piece of set, I appreciated that very much. I watched this video over a span of 5 days because it had my complete attention, and I will come back to this video to review any set in the game when I need to. I am smashing the like button on this video, you also have my sub. Can't wait to see more from you.
I really want Blizzard to give these sets such bonuses that are scaling with your level, to be worth keeping them for the late game. It would be a great addition to the endgame and worth grinding the sets too, not just runes and runeword bases. And it would go well with the game role playing aspect that as you leveling and your character getting wiser, they can understand more and more about the set's magic potential, as well as you can approove why the set's original owner collected those items and they put some hidden magic and mechanics in them which can be reached by getting better and better. It is just a little role playing fantasy. :) Also the sets could hold some special effect on completing them, that makes them even desirable next to runeword competitors. Such as granting a skill from other characters' skill trees or providing 100% pierce, huge life leach, incredible run/walk speed, Raw attack rating and big flat damage... something that can't be owned other ways.
Someone had the courage to do this, congrats! Also, I like how most of the sets are positioned, we don't want sets to be the ultimate x4 damage items in D2, but a things that Blizz could really do for us is to lower the drop chance of some items from some of the top sets, please!
I so wish the mace wasnt that awful, i mean, if you let us upgrade them, at least make it worthwile, eg percentage damage increase rather than a flat 30-42..
I've always wanted to craft a barb with this sazabis's set (dual wielding the cobalt redeemers) + all the + %demon dmg and crushing blow gear i can fit in. Something to chop up Baal in like 4 frenzy hits.
Sets were a cool idea, but I agree, they weren't implemented super well - there's only a few that are really worthwhile, and only a handful of those that you'll find before you get access to stronger runewords/uniques.
I recently got it in my brain that I wanted to make a fire claws druid that uses Aldur’s. That has since expanded to having one of each expansion class set with a build that works for that set. I’m lost on what to do with Griswold’s. You mentioned a niche build, but not what the build is. Sooooooo what is it? I’ve been playing this game for over 20 years and I still love learning more about it.
Griswold's has a few 'good enough' builds with it, zealot with strong jewels is the one most people go to the first time, but with all the sockets it can be used with rainbow facets for a few b-tier versions of aura builds too (a dream-tesladin or dragondin will be stronger than a griswold variant of either of them).
Are the speed penalties coming from heavier armor and shields that important, so you mention them even on a set with single medium armor? I mean i play this game since release, and never really noticed that until the resurrected came, and i read it somewhere.
you can overcome it with faster run/walk - but generally the game just feels a lot more responsive when using light gear, and it can make the difference in how good/bad a build feels - though it's one of those "you won't really notice it until you try them out side by side"
@@SelevanRsC It's kind of like the 30fps vs 60fps debate, it's perfectly fine to use either of the above - some specific situations benefit from the speed, but it's not necessary for enjoying the game. Main reason I prefer light armor is that I am very much a SSF player, so the light armor just feels better when I don't have enough FRW to overcome the penalty.
26:00 of course hoarding sets on mules is the way to go but if you make the items exceptional you're facing a clvl 30 minimum. That's Act 3 normal, and by then those sets aren't worth it. 44:00 with 2 cathan rings you get some nice life leech, but your weapon isn't that strong. you need to larzuk the shield for a resist all perfect diamond
@@SelevanRsC no, in players 8 Andariel is level 27-30. Reason being there's so many monsters before her. Any char should be able to defeat Duriel on players/3 at level 30.
It would be cool if they made a save uber griswald quest; where you free him from his fate. Then griswald has a chance to drop a trinket that when cubed with any set item capable of sockets, will random roll possible sockets and potentially allow you to use the set item as a base for a rune-word; this would make sets with a terrible weapon potentially viable. They could even create other trinkets like something that allows you to make any item ethereal & unbreakable. Another trinket could allow you to attune a rune-word into a weapon and then random roll sockets, allowing the possibility of socketable runewords. This would open the door to almost limitless opportunities. They could even make the quest only possible one time per difficulty, and limit it to only being possible in that difficulties variant of the item but ensure that at least one of the trinkets drop. I think that would be cool as hell, OP characters will stay OP, but it could make characters that are not OP competitive at that level.
that would be impossible to do objectively - it's like asking whether oranges or potatoes are better - sure some are obviously better (Immortal King is better than Berserker for example), but when you're talking similar tier sets - it tends to come down more to "fit for purpose" - cathan's will be better than infernal for a sorceress, but not a necro.
@@Alzorath another question is what sets work well with other sets like comboing set together cuz only the immortal king set is a full set weapon and all but what sets work well with each other if possbile
I was more interested in WHERE the items were found, than I was interested in WHAT they do. I could get the same information from looking at a spreadsheet.
I love low level sets for leveling my mules but unfortunately they are absolutely useless for your first character every season as you will almost never find more than 1 piece of a set before you’ve leveled past its usefulness. Unless your a week or more behind the crowd and people are dropping free gear. In solo lol yeah right your never going to have the full arctic set at lvl 2 let alone by lvl 20.
True but my first offline character was a sorceress and by the time I beat hell and was ready to start a new character I already had arctic set, sigons and a buriza. Made Bowazon play through very fun.
There's no way telling of beads is more rare than tals ammy, I've gotten no less than 15 of them, only 1 tals ammy. In fact, just yesterday in trav, 2 green ammys dropped and I literally said aloud "one is a telling of beads" and it was. Just called it, because that is how common they are for me. I'd love for tals ammy to be that common lol
It's actually because of where you're farming - when both are available, they both have the same drop weight (Arcanna's Sign, Tal Rasha's Adjudication, and Telling of Beads all have a weighting of 1 - so in hell, if a set amulet drops, Tal's, Beads, and Arcanna all have a 1 in 45 chance of being that set amulet, civerbs/cathans/angelic/vidala/iratha/tancred all have 7 in 45 each) Arcanna's requires mlvl 20 to drop Tal's requires mlvl 26 to drop Beads requires mlvl 39 to drop A set amulet from a level 20 enemy has a 1 in 29 chance of being arcanna's A set amulet from a level 26 enemy has a 1 in 37 chance of being a Tal's (yes, you can find it long before you can equip it) A set amulet from a level 27 enemy (Tancred's) has a 1 in 44 chance of being tal's A set amulet from a level 39 or higher enemy, has a 1 in 45 chance of being tal's So yes - farming set amulets in late normal, will cut beads out of the formula. It's also the reason why SoJ, despite being higher value, is technically more common than Bul-Kathos or Wisp Projector (all 3 are 1 weight unique rings - but SoJ requries mlvl 39, while BK requires mlvl 66, and wisp requires mlvl 84) Stuff like this is also why people will target farm late normal and specific zones in nightmare when doing Holy Grails or farming gear for a specific build (a lot of the class specific sets/uniques that are desireable, are much quicker to farm in nightmare for example)
Not really it just makes the game smoother if you don’t like it don’t use it or just go play Diablo 2 I bet you won’t reach Hell at least not in the shorter time then with Runes also levelling will be a nightmare because you only be able to play low difficulty so just on that forget the magic finding and all the goodies sets have always been garbage for me even on Diablo 2 when I bought 2005 the best have always been a unique and all the campaign’s I have done on D2 I think I only got like 5 and none were for my character and now you come in here saying that rune-words just broke the game I’m sorry but you have no clue stop stashing garbage of sets out 20 sets there is only three that for me are godly but they hard to get them Immortal King full set Trag Hauls full set and Tal Rasha full set anything else is mediocre sets and not so good or even garbage just the good thing is the but green means trash for me only Gold is normally much better

they could have done so much more with 'set upgrading' - instead they just played it safe and kept it at changing the bases

Full Sigon with Angelic Sword, Two Rings, and the Neck. Thats my bread and butter, I can play normal over and over on so many toons with that setup.

while you can somewhat target farm them, generally I just build them up from playing way too much, and target farming is an item by item basis.
