I don't know who is this guy, Jeremy Jones, but he is the real winner of this match! Dude just flawlessly guessed all the shots!
Double J, JJ... was a monster when I was up and coming Us Open Champion and in my opinion went against the typical 5'6"-5'8" pool player champion size.
He openly talk about what is needed to get done. The though spoken of a mind of champion.
He mot guess it he is mentally playing it as he would.
There are so many that argue that everyone plays different shapes . All true but when u get a to certain level, there is a percentage choice and comfort choice and and the right choice.
He as a mosconi cup champion might I add , has experienced first hand more than most will ever see.

Not a guess
J.J. is a pro player. I'm not sure if he retired or not, but he is without a doubt the best commentator in the sport. He imparts his knowledge on the viewers to the point that it makes watching the matches that much more enjoyable. He also co-captained the USA team to victory in the 2019 Mosconi Cup.
He is announcing over previously edited video so he already knows what's going to happen. This is done all the time and sucks.

If you're watching pool to learn speed control or kick shots, check out older videos of the GOAT Efren Reyes vs. Earl Strickland. Earl got spoiled on lesser talent. This game seems sloppy in comparison. I improved so much watching Efren. Good day.
@@JosephNordenbrockartistraction did you say earl and lesser talent in the same sentence? one thing I will say for earl is he probably had more pool talent than anyone to ever live.. unfortunately he's a head case with some personality issues. Don't get me wrong I agree with everything else you said if you were to model your game after one player ever it would have to be effren. earl is imo the most innovative player pools had in 100 years, he invented the jump cue and then quit using it, he was one of the first to use gloves and extensions as well. never limit who you learn from in pool learn from everyone!
I almost always pull for Earl, but he just seemed to have his self-destructive attitude going (albeit at least more professional about it).
They should give Earl a ball-in-hand for that.

The difference in the commentators from this era and back in the 1990 just mind boggling.
Now you hear a boring man speaking and the other is a wrestling type of commentators, while back in the 90's we have billy incardona and grady mathews giving us the teachings of how and why players do what they do, I learned so much listetning to these two legends, however now I learn absolutely nothing they just tell me what I'm seeing.

Earl's recent commentary is pretty good. Lots better than these goofs that endlessly babble anyway!
Never realized how similar earl’s and ralf’s feather strokes look before they hit the cue ball. A few times when it was only the cue in frame I would mistake one for the other, but the timing of the final cue delivery is quite different

Its likely not up to the camera person, they typically do what the director says they should do. "Zoom in on camera 4" "Cut to overhead camera" "Camera 2 get ready for a reaction shot on Earl" etc....

Rack 2 the Ref put the 9 Ball on the Back Right Hand corner of the Rack! I thought that in 10 Ball the 2 & 3 went on the Back Corners, or did they change that rule?

I watched these guys eat dinner together and practice together at Steinway billiards. You may want to watch who gave the best speech at Efren's retirement party because it was Earl. Why do american pool cue extensions have such stupidly long threads on them? Takes a load of turns to put them on or take them off. Not sure why they don;t do a quick lock thread so it only takes a couple of turns like snooker cues have, you only use it for the odd shot anyway.

Earl and ralf have history. I remember a match in the 90's earl was a sore loser to ralf during the handshake and then there was the incident at the mosconi cup.
The pool is an extraordinarily difficult game; just lose a few millimeters to no longer be in the pro levels. These have made the history of the game, but you can't expect them to be eternal ...

So the cameraman is showing a great overhead view and a moment before the cue ball is struck, he drops down to table level and misses the intricacy of the shot. What ever happened to common sense? You can't see much from ground level.

These two are not in the same league as Efren Reyes Masconi or Fats. Both are great shooters and players but are infants to the game by comparison.
Wow you don't think earl is in the same league as Efren, Masconi, or fats. I think Earl is better than all those guys here why. Earl has the most US open 9 ball wins of all time five, Earl is the only player ever to win the WPA world 9 ball championship two years in a row he also has the most WPA world 9 ball titles. In 1996 at the first PCA tournament there was a stipulation that anyone that could break and run ten racks would win a million dollars, Earl run 11 racks still a record for the most consecutive racks of 9 ball run in competition. Earl has 61 titles to his name and still counting. His come back victory over Fransisco Bustamanta for his third WPA world 9 ball title was epic.
I love Minnesota Fats and i love Willie and of coarse i love Efren but this sport is judged by world championship titles not fancy shots speaking of fancy shots Efren has zero WPA world 9 ball championship wins. So to say Earl is not in the same league is just wrong. The truth is those other players you mentioned are not in Earls league.
@@bogie1971 a matter of opinion. I have studied all the players mentioned extensively. My conclusion is Reyes is a better player and shooter than Earl. He's beaten Earl every time they played. Totally different league of shooter and player. A skill level of 10 vs 9. Fats would have taught Earl the real game of pool along with Masconi. These guys are in a league of their own. Masters. Earl is still the student because his temperament and ego won't allow him to be a better player and a master of the game. That's what makes a real champion and master.

Do you really think Efren beat Earl every time they played? So then explain to me how earl got past Efren to win three WPA world 9 ball titles? And Fats & Mosconi you might want to study and learn about these greats and remember their interviews in the mid 80's talking about the greatest current player they had seen Earl Strickland i thought you studied billiards? Fats & Mosconi loved Earl Strickland and said he was the best current player they saw play the game.
And you must realize these players played different games so it is really hard to judge who would beat who. Mosconi had 15 world titles in straight pool aka 14.1. Fats was an amazing three cushion, Rotation aka 61, player and his long suit was bank pool & one pocket. Allen hopkins & Steve Mizerak both world champions said Fats was the best bank & one pocket player to ever play. Fats said Earl was the best 9 ball player he had ever seen. And Mosconi and Fats both agreed Ralph Greenleaf was the best overall player they had ever seen. Willie Mosconi and Fats were never able to beat Ralph Greenleaf never not even once.

I don't know. Why? Lol. He has cemented himself as the fire-bellied player that he is, but in other matches (particularly against Efren) he has shown true appreciation for other players' shots. His clap to Ralf early on in this match did seem a bit disingenuous, as it followed Ralf's simple shot on the 10. Maybe he was applauding the end of the rack. Both players not playing _nearly_ as well as I've seen them play in the past.
He has mental issues. it's apparent. Earl has as always angry with Ralph whenever he loses. Earl almost started a fight with Ralph in one of the Mosconi Cups. After winning the match an announcer asked about what Earl said and he said Earl called him a word that starts with F. Ralph said that wasn't the first time. Looks like Earl was better in this one, but he still seemed to say something nasty at the end.

Lots of mental issues, but his big tournament wins speak for themself. When Earl doesn't complain and talk to the crowd he can run racks over and over again. If Earl played in a room with just Ralph and Earl, and Earl had nobody to talk to he'd probably whoop Ralph most of the time.

These older players miss alot...lack creative positioning...pretty straight forward pool shooting.
