First make it sure the radiator fan works normal. Work in low speed, middle speed and high speed. Second make it sure the cooling system no clogging and no leaks. 3rd make it sure the code is the same on this video. And my answer to your question is YES.

@@ejmegzcarvlog7226 yes the dealer checked for me and it's the code PO128 for the thermostat and before that they change the coolant temperature sensor!!
Good ol Chevy! That’s a lot of work to get to a thermostat. Both my camaro’s have the PO128 code.

Check first the gasket if not worn or damage. But for me I always advised to change it. To make it sure for no leak after repair.
