There used to be a cafeteria above a fish processing plant in Vancouver that served the best horse clam chowder on the planet. It wasn't white or red. It was just an amazing thick clam broth with clams, spices and vegetables.
That's a good side one. I dug horse clams at Netarts Bay and I found you can go right down the neck hole if you take thin scoops. At some point the sand liquifies and you can just use your hand to do the rest of the digging, feeling your way down the neck hole. Don't wear sleeves.

lame dude how easy was that, we were 11 year old kids going down 4 ft to get the real clams and fighting against the tides.
