There will be a day when someone, a new director maybe, finds themselves inherently drawn to the fine art of the Western, and they'll live there because it suits them so well. I just hope that it's within my lifetime.
Dave McKay don’t worry I got you. Im a theater major who is also interested in film. I’m currently writing a western play, but with the storytelling format of pulp fiction. Hopefully I can get it published and eventually turn it into a film afterward for people to enjoy.
Hopefully we do get that day, but it seems the western has morphed and is currently in the "modern western" style for many directors and doesn't seem to be about to change. Hell or High Water is a good example of this. The few other movies that have a Western theme tend to have a twist to them as well, such as Tarantino movies or Bone Tomahawk. Still good movies but moved away from the traditional western.
Clint Eastwood is definitely the single most impactful man in action/adventure motion pictures, of the 20th Century. Thank you for all of your years of commitment to movie goers. Not only in acting, but in writing and directing as well.
If Eastwood ends up not making another Western, I have faith in Tarantino to make the next classic Western. Great directors that haven't failed to make entertaining films.
@@Altunuzraids It was very good, but I think Django Unchained is Tarantino's best western hit. I'm not demeaning The Hateful Eight, I like it so much tbh, but I think that more people prefer Django over Hateful 8.
if you like hateful eight, then you should watch more western movies from the 50's and 60's and 70's and comparing Tarantino as a Good western director is just nuts,tarantino is all about racism.
Look at all his legendary badass westerns, josey wales,good bad and the ugly, unforgiven, fistfull of dollars. And oh shit i forgot who can forget..... Paint your wagon.
@johnsammyanfal I respectfully disagree in regards of casting versus story. I think they're equal, along with the director. In regards to the Academy Awards, it's considered a major triumph for a movie to win Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Picture. And besides, personal odysseys can apply to all great films, not just Westerns.
Without watching ... I will say, the buildup of hate for the bad guy because he has done something heinous, and therefore deserves the .45 lead that will soon be flying his direction ...
