you know the green-orange-red double lined dots on the DJM ? The ones that basically show how hard you're pushing the sound system ? When you're hitting the red too much you're red clipping which is awful for the speakers if the club doesn't put a limiter on them separately from the mixer because you're pushing them too hard essentially...

Yep. Everything played via the PA is probably compressed/limited so all songs sound like a slightly distorted version of Call on me... ua-cam.com/video/QQSYo_pC-QA/v-deo.html
On big systems like this, the allover sound level actually gets lower (limiter kicks in) if you crank it too high. This is done to protect the amps/speakers from the flattened tops of the audio wave. Short explanation.
Edit: Yes, there is a bit of headroom so a flash of red once in a while is ok, but don't abuse it.

You limit the system to a max spl of 110db (at least in germany) so nobody will get a heardamage.
Clubs like this use line arrays and they can push easyly up to 150 db.
This might get a lil bit to loud.

The knob he uses is the mic volume fader and the on/off aff the mic. Thats why he is using the mixer. This doesn't mean that he is the next DJ, but if he is, it might be to get the crowd used to his method of mixing.

People are there to have a great time and enjoy music, not to see what the dj is doing with the decks.
I think track selection is way more important than deck tricks and scratching.
There's no such thing as standard Djing, that would leave no room for creativity.
Every dj has their own style, crowd will say if they like it or not, djs don't have to be liked by everyone, that's why there's diversity even in music.

Ok, this maybe controversial but I didn't really like the flow. It was kind of all over the place with the track selection. Maybe it's what they like in that club or if he was doing a set before the headline dj then maybe he had to play like that. Just seems odd to me not to control the flow of the club. Mixing was decent though and a lot of djs put up videos with terrible mixing.
That's how most clubs are like but in my opinion that looked like a students union club night so they are always like that with flow aha

That feeling when you you are launchpad and launchkey player and you want to learn to this.
There’s nothing worse than the next DJ continually looking at his watch, and ensuring you know he’s doing it! Just chill out mate, your on next!!! Once a DJ gets in the ‘zone’ and is enjoying seeing the crowd loving his mixing, then it’s very hard to lay down the headphones.
We play b2b for the full night dude and have a production schedule that we run on a timescale so I’m just checking as to what is coming up next and what time it is so everything fits in on time. I’m chilled with whenever I go on, I just wait for the heads up from Danny. Hope that clears it up a little for you :)

Some clubs have limiters on the systems so redlining on the dj mixer doesnt really matter anymore. They have it so the system is never in danger
