    I’ve hung up literally over 20+ of those yellow vanilla trees and it does absolutely NOTHING in my chicken coops & I'm just in SC!

    My grandbaby has very sensitive skin . I found that Johnson's Baby Lotion with Lavender keeps mosquitos off her and I now use it too .

      The risk of disease is higher than the risk of toxicity of these repellants if used as directed.
      These essential oils might work but they EVAPORATE AND LEAVE YOU UNPROTECTED then you spray more, right? Of course it is natural. Nope! there is a toxicity level with these essential oils. If you are diluting these essential oils properly then reapplying you can easily go over the recommended safe usage rates for these oils since they are all below 1%
      It is much safer to spray a FDA recommended safe deterrent.
      That is unsafe to use essential oils as insect repellents. They have proven not to work giving people the false sense of protection putting them at risk for St.Louis Encephalitis, equine Encephalitis , Chikungunya, Dengue, low risk? Rare? Until there is ZERO risk don’t risk your child’s health because you are been targeted to be made afraid of chemicals told that they are unsafe to use, use essential oils as insect repellents.
      These diseases are not an African disease.
      You are in TEXAS you have lone star ticks you can get Alpha Gal syndrome, bites leave people allergic to protein, you can become allergic chicken and beef regularly. My neighbor got this in N Carolina. 🤷🏽‍♀️
      You are passing around and advocating harmful behavior especially for children who usually get skeeter syndrome because they don’t recognize/ react to the bites and wash them off immediately and become allergic to the protein in their saliva.
      Be careful readers
      Don’t think for 1 second Johnson and Johnson has your back. They add fragrance and by law they do not have to tell you what is in that fragrance. Also they have had toxic ingredients in their baby products and has refused to removed and tricked the FDA and users to keep those ingredients in their baby products
      Look it up you will never use their crap again.

    I hung a smaller brown paper bag from the ceiling of our tree house. If you wad it up and then stuff it so it looks like a hornets nest the wasps will stay away. At least it worked for us.

    I just blast them with the hose or pressure cleaner after dark…gonnies !

    • @realsimplemama
      @realsimplemama  Рік тому

      Yes that’s what I do with wasps but make sure it’s dark (so they’re sleepy) as I’ve been stung by one recently too and it was NOT fun. Zero stars, would not recommend. 🫣

      @@realsimplemama for sure it must be dark ! Our paper wasps seem to leave us alone here. ( so far ) 🤞🏼

    Someone said flies can lay eggs around chicken's vent and the larvae will feed on them.....

      This is a condition called flystrike - it’s rare (and quite gross), I’ve never had to deal with it but it’s good to do medical checks on your chickens regularly. ✌🏻❤️🐓

    Hey lady I watched your video when we built are new coop a few months ago. that ws a number one concern. so we caulked in out every nook and cranny of the run and of coarse the coop. this has also worked with my garden shed. no wasp ever also I took brown paper bags stuff with plastic and hung them around garden shed and this year the coop. tie them up on branches this detours wasp hornets not bees. It was a win win. just try it I hope it works for you

      Hey! Wow so the brown paper bag decoy worked?!? I’ve read about that but never tried it. That’s fascinating! Thanks so much for chiming in.

    Hot water and soap. Throw a bucket it will knock them straight down and kill them. No stains no chemicals.

  • @opusand2

    I heard if you paint the ceiling a sky blue the wasp won’t build nest there because they think it’s the sky. I wrote this before I saw the whole video, sry.

    • @realsimplemama
      @realsimplemama  4 роки тому

      Hi! Yes I’ve heard that too. Isn’t that crazy?! I never got to test if that works! (Or that you can also make a fake nest out of paper bags - as wasps are territorial, they’ll think that space is taken and move on.)

    An essay way to kill wasps is you get dawn dish soap mix is with some warm water and dump some on the wasps it will make it where they can’t fly and I don’t think it will hurt your chickens either

    I have heard of chicken owners picking up roadkill and hanging carcass over the Run. Of course it attracts flies which produce larvae. When the larvae drop to the ground the chickens devour them. Sounds pretty gross to me, but certainly organic.

    We have all the stinging bugs here in North Louisiana. 🙄 we have the bright red wasp, very aggressive! They fly after you if get close to their nest. We fight them every single year. We kill them with fire. If we can get to them. Wait till dark and take propane torch to them. You can kill them quick enough before it catches anything on fire. Now we have what I can only imagine is a massive nest that is between the pitch cap and the metal on our roof. There's literally hundreds flying in and out all day everyday from the time the temp gets above 50°. We spray and even got an exterminate out that blew this really fine talcum powder killer into the openings, it did knock the numbers back but didn't get rid of them. Plus the poor guy was getting stung through his protective suit 🤦🏻‍♀️ besides the heat, to me at least, it is one of the worst things about living in the south. And the mosquitoes aren't a joke either. We had a really wet winter and spring this year and they just exploded...and brought fowl pox with them...I think we're on the uphill climb out of that situation! Thank God!

    I thought paper wasps weren't aggressive? I had 2 nests between my front door and screen door and they never bothered us until we tried to move them...

    • @realsimplemama
      @realsimplemama  5 років тому +1

      Hi! They’re not particularly aggressive in that they’re attacking me. There are just so many of them right by where I work and where the girls sleep. I’m not interested in getting rid of the nests that are out of the way but some are too close to comfort, like I almost hit the nest with my body when I’m working!

    Hi Sarah I’m new to your channel. I love it so much. Do you have a video about chickens and deworming them? I had no idea this was a thing I should be doing?

    • @realsimplemama
      @realsimplemama  5 років тому +2

      Hi! Welcome! Glad you found me. Deworming is not a necessary thing - I do have a few videos about it and the medication I used. I personally don’t bother with it unless I know my birds have a confirmed case (eg excess worms coming out in their poop and you can see them). Some people do deworm twice a year but I don’t!
