Your question about how they get that thumping beat into the mix im pretty sure comes down to a lot of production. I could be wrong but it seems like they use an insane amount of sidechaining. Commonly seen in EDM and some hiphop/rap but not too much in metal. Side chaining for thise who dont know is registering a specific sound track or audio queue that when plays automatically compresses or puts an effect on the other tracks. The sidechained track will have a more dominant or clean sound when it plays.
Hey mate, the part that plays when he's mentioning has a specific EQ automation that cut's the lows on almost every instruments with that woobly movement, but it's automated by hand. Probably would've been possible with sidechaining but we wanted control of each movement, maybe could've been done with an envelope control as well... but well, we didn't try to improve it after the writing process.
