On the 3rd of Dec 2021 we are celebrating the 132nd anniversary of the birth of composer Cyrillus Kreek. Music video of "I Went on a Dusky Day" by Cyrillus Kreek (1889-1962) was filmed in summer 2021, when the EPCC celebrated its 40th anniversary and Tõnu Kaljuste was named the Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the EPCC again after about 20 years since he last held this position. To celebrate this moment of reuniting, Tõnu Kaljuste invited his musicians from the EPCC and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra to his residence on Naissaar Island in June 2021.
Tõnu Kaljuste has proven himself an expert and a committed advocate of the music of many Estonian composers. The music of Cyrillus Kreek has been in the heart and repertoire of EPCC and Tõnu Kaljuste for years. Together they have been introducing the musical output of Kreek to the world in concerts and on records.
