I love how you see the story for what it is and not what people made it out to be! I loved a little life for the simple fact that I’ve lived through a lot of the experiences all by the age of 9! I don’t see a lot of artist allow themselves to get to real because people want to pick out the disturbing parts instead of the message behind the book and I thought it was beautiful written! I find it weird the internet fantasies about depicting everything as trauma 🌽 these days! Nothing can just be a story with a beautiful message without other trying to find a reason to hate the book!

I love reading. Other than Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings I'm more into paranormal romance, historical romance and romantic suspense.
My favorite authors are Christine Feehan (she has several paranormal romance series), Julie Garwood (historical & suspense - RIP) and Lynsay Sands (both vampire and historical romance).

Kie since you loved Mile high I think you’d love the series by Evelyn Sola, Clark family series starting with Crave. It’s one of my fav from 2023. It’s also similar to Mile high with a black woman struggling with being stereotyped and going through the process of loving herself. It’s a beautiful book and also has spice. I added it to my favs of all time list.

Finishing up A little life tonight
Kierra, since you loved A Little Life so much, I have another Literary Fiction recommendation for you (if you are willing to accept it): My Dark Vanessa - Kate Elizabeth Russel.
The he book follows Vanessa Wye from when she was a teenager where she started a relationship with her 50-something year old English teacher, and as an adult in 2017 when the MeToo Movement started to gain momentum and former students of the English teacher has accused him of sexual abuse. This forced Vanessa to rethink her relationship with the English teacher and realize her greatest love story was abuse.
This book is also sad, but not in the same way as A Little Life. Whereas A Little Life is sad because you care for the characters and want the best for them, My Dark Vanessa is sad because you are aware that Vanessa's situation is similar to what countless other women go through.
I really think you would love My Dark Vanessa.
