This is incredible! I have been searching for a half an hour and nothing and then your video showed up. Only video I have found that shows how to reshape tubing! Thank you for making this!

      You can also use sand.
Just heat up a good amount of sand in an oven, then pour it into the plastic pipe right full, then tape up the ends closed. It softens it up so you can bend without kinks

Thank you, I'm working with some really small clear tube and I think this will work but with bailing wire!

What kind of tubing are you bending? PVC, Acrylic, PETG, etc.?

Thank you Thank You Thank you. I have been trying to figure out where I was going wrong. To funny all I need to do is get the right size spring. I've watched a few videos in the past and none explained how crucial the size matters
Well when it comes to pipe bending. Thanks again.

I wonder if this technique can be use on automotive vacuum hoses to create custom lines? Great video!

Thanks, hey, I believe I have some 1/2" clear tubing that I need something to put on it to keep it from kinking. Any ideas? Thank you.

Where can I buy spring so I can create 1 1/2 revolutions of a 2" dia spiral shape for clear tubing that is 1/2" OD and 3/8" ID? Do the springs need a certain stiffness to work?

I found these at a fleamarket for a dollar for the whole set, I’m not sure where to buy a new set at. I don’t feel that the spring tension would be a problem, but the size of the diameter of the spring is pretty important. I tried the spring that was a little looser and it didn’t work as well. If you’re bending something other than clear tubing I have poured sand in the tube and then duck taped each side. Each Time I make another band I remove all the sand because it is compacted pour the sand in so it was nice and loose and then make my next bend. I have used springs that are not necessarily designed for this and as long as it is the right diameter I’ve had pretty good luck with it. Let me know if you have any other questions or if this helped.

Great Question, Sumanesh. Thanks for asking, I wanted to know as well. 😃👍

They are called tube bending springs. Home Depot or Menard's should have them, Sumanesh.

Just simply buy the kit to bend PC water cooling tubing. It will save from all that struggles. You’re welcome.

What are these springs called if your looking to buy them? Any idea what there original purpose was for?

There called.....springs. Should be able to find them at bolt and nut retail type places or huge warehouse type places.

Hi, do you have any recommendations for how to split tubing down the middle about the same diameter as you demonstrated in the video? I tried using a heat gun to heat up the tip of an exacto knife but I just can’t seem to get it straight down the middle. Thank you!

I’ve done it in the past, the cleanest way that I’ve seen Is to glue the straight piece of pipe to a wooden board and then run it through the tablesaw. I’m not thrilled about the method. I’ve done A similar method using a bandsaw and then sanding the edges. I’ve also put masking tape on the pipe as a guide and used a hacksaw to cut pipe in half. Because A pipe is round this is a challenging maneuver no matter how you stack it. I hope this answers your question

@@livefree6878 Thank you. Unfortunately I don't have access to a table saw, but I do have a circular wheel-saw attachment on my hand held dremmel I will try and see if that works. Everytime I tried to cut it down the middle with a blade, I simply couldn't get it straight. The tubing I'm trying to split down the middle is the soft nylon tubing from Auto Zone, but unfortunately when I went to Menards, all they had was very rigid vinyl tubing.

You wouldn't know how to do this on much smaller 1/4 or 3/8 air line would you? Maybe wire would work.

    • @livefree6878
      @livefree6878  4 роки тому

There’s a few techniques that have used or thinner plastic tubing. They do make these springs for the outside of the tube for outside diameter‘s. A wire inside could be a thing to try. If the plastic tubing is not clear, you could pour sand into the tube tape both ends so the sand does not come out. You can get one bend with this method. The sand would need to be removed and put back in for the second bend. If you try doing two bends chances are the paper split. Those are a few methods of used, maybe those would be useful for your application.
