Thanks for sharing. I've been wondering how to do fabric origami for awhile, and this tutorial is easy to follow. I'm looking forward to giving this a go.
Oh my! Beautiful work! It does look complicated. (I would like to try) . I do wonder how would such design hold in washing? Will the diamond shapes come undone? Thank you for a lovely tutorial.
+bob T Embellishments are optional. I can't tell you how big the piece of fabric needs to be. When I start a new texture I start with a large piece of fabric and I start on the corner. Then I do the texture until I get to the size I need. And I mesure afterwards, when I've finished. You can also use the size given in my tutorial to calculate how much you need. For instance I used 18 inches for about a 10 inch finished piece so for a 12.5 you will need about 22 or 23 inches. But I would start with more rather than less just in case.
Being able to make origami or any other DIY stuff is really a gift! cos its really hard and requires a lot of patience!
Yep you need lots of patience but we need more slow things in our lives 😉

The folds are quite deep and the stitching keeps them in place. It should be ok.

how do I calculate for a 12.5 inch finished block? do I have to put buttons or is there a way to make a finished block without that embellishment?
