In case anyone's wondering why there's four game overs in a row at the start, it's because that's the fastest means of getting the upgraded charge shot. The same thing happens in Mega Man [World] IV.
You can still buy the improved charge shot as an upgrade. The game just gives you it automatically if you’re struggling.
@@wilhemtehlynx Mah! Okay, I have NO idea how I forgot about that!
I'll update the original post.
Easily one of the best recent MM fan efforts. Simple yet appealing concept. Flawless execution. Gameboy hardware is not easy to work with but this hack makes it look effortless. Massive props to the devs
Thank you for playing the hack ^_^
Reception has been amazing, thank you all, hope you enjoy it!
Thank you for making it! It feels like it could've been the work of Capcom themselves back in the late 90s. I think a lot of people have wanted something like this for a long time.
You rule, it's an amazing work. Truly turning an awesome game into a masterpiece.
looks fantastic. Makes me wish even more Capcom didn't abandon their plans to colorize the GB ones for a GBA collection. V is def. underrated. The planet themes was so cool.
They didn't abandon it, they just couldn't do it since the source code to the games was completely lost
This hugely overlooked Mega Man classic just got even better! This is great.
Basically, this is what the game may have looked like if the GBA compilation with it and the other four GB Mega Man games was released.
7:22 I actually discovered this on accident when I was a kid. I just kept falling into the hole while I was bored and thinking about things.
God, it's just so SMOOTH! This is already an incredible game, and for the mods to not only have everything fresh and so nicely colored, but to have it run without the slowdown these games were known for, just makes this game all the more memorable. Way to go!
More colorful than what Super Gameboy had done, especially when it comes to colorizing sprites.
I like this trend of DX GBC games based on Link's Awakening's own "DX" GBC game. Hope they all make more!
Let's hope the earlier 4 games someday get a full colour treatment because the only way to play those games in colour is via a specialized emulator etc. Great version here!
The problem is that the others don't have the same appeal of this one, to motivate such work, as it's the only truly original GB game. So it's less likely to happen sadly.
@carlosaugusto9821 , actually I kinda hope you wrong on this because I would definitely like to see MM2 on G.B. get the colorisaton and some upgrade it deserves because that's my favorite version out of series here. I mean no.1 got done and I'm willing to wait it out if it ever gets done?! It makes sense too because people love the portable versions and Capcom let us down but I get the extreme amount of work it'll take sigh...
@@carlosaugusto9821 That's understandable but people seem to love MMW4 almost as much as 5 (me included), so I don't see why they wouldn't get an upgrade
As of this comment Wily's Revenge is done, II and II are currently in progress, and IV is planned for next year!
This was one of a few games that I had experienced for the first time on the 3DS Virtual Console. I remember being very impressed with it. A completely original Megaman Game Boy title whose quality stands up amongst the NES games. And the soundtrack is amazing.
One of the things that always bothered me about playing Game Boy games via the Virtual Console was the fact that *_every game_* was either playable in Black and White or the "green spinach color" with some motion blur as a way to *_truly_* emulate the feel of playing on an actual Game Boy should you press "L + R" -- Even if it was originally a SGB title like this game or Pokemon Red & Blue. Why not implement that? It makes no sense. This game already looked great for a Game Boy game, but this fan made colorization makes it look like one of the NES Megaman games. Hell, it looks even better than the SGB palettes. Massive props to the devs behind this project.
As a stalwart Mega Man player, this is easily a quality visual touchup that gives it an NES-like aesthetic. I’m absolutely impressed! Major props to the team responsible for putting this together. It’s SO clean! 👌🏼
Looking back at this I love how MM 8 bit deathmatch correlates to this story and to the other megaman stories it's awsome
Well, I hear there was a cancelled video compilation where all five Game Boy games got colored versions, but this is remarkable! I mean, the hacking made the coloring possible, like a fan video game mod! Impressive! I always dream of colorization someday, and this is a good fan way of showing it! :)
Alabado bendito y digno el que colorizó este juego de GB :')
QUEDÓ HERMOSO
Nice, my favorite MM game on GB just looks even better now.
3 days ago I mentioned this hack on the other video, and it gets played through and uploaded, I see the future.
My stepbrother had the original Gameboy game when we were kids.
I think MMIV and MMV were the best Megaman-games made . MMIV was pretty awesome with Ballad-man and even sad that he died to help megaman out . That ending song still squeezes some tears from my stone-cold eyes .
By the way do you play the Megaman Legends games next in the future ? Those are very underrated . Especially the first one is totally badass !
Super nice game !
This is so amazing
Spark Chaser at 1:07:19 was the inspiration for Sigma’s weapon in Overwatch 2
The way you just kept dying at the beginning!!😅 I can imagine the frustration of not being able to get hit by the block!!
Dit matrix Megaman games. So awesome to look at.
It's kinda funny we have to show the game how noob we are first before giving us that OP buster.
This is amazing! The only thing that would make it better is an option to put Rushjet1's remixes in here since they similarly "enhance" the OST, but this is fine.
This ost is sooo underrated!
Wow, that looks like something from Turbografx rather than GBC or NES. Nice choice of color palettes.
Great shader too!
GOOD MOVES MEGAMAN THE CHAMPION OF UNIVERSE
Mega Man and Roll look very adorable.
Good Game & Hack, When I defeated Terra, his weapon Spark Chaser was label EA instead of TE, but then I found out that Terra is the Latin Word Earth and that he was called Earth in Japan
Holy shit! This looks 1000 times better than the original!
I really like this game
when i first tried V i did not like it because the slowdown is a pain and makes the game so much more frustrating... the slowdown fix on this patch is incredible and makes the game feel so much better, it's great that this is available now... perhaps a similar fix will come out for MMIV someday too, because that game is also great (but bogged down by slowdown issues too)
Cool video
Why didn't you use the Grab Buster on Pluto? Also, you could charge Rush's shots in the space-shooter segment (that could've helped in the Skull Blazer battle). Or perhaps you thought it was better to just spam the regular shots?
the best (official) game, hands down
Do i plan on watching an hour long video about Mega Man fighting a vegeta wannabee at 2AM because i have no class tomorrow and nothing better to do?
Yes
I really need tutorial how to get this version works on my emulator, I download this game in the link that you put down below but still the color of this game is not correct, please help me.
How does the grab attack work?😅
Sometimes it sticks and other times it doesn't and I don't understand it
I can't say I like all of the colorization projects - for example I thought the color choices in Wario Land colorization were ugly. But this looks really good!
Spent countless hours playing this on super GameBoy. There’s just something special about this game. Oh yeah, and Venus looks like toadman
Great longplay! Can I ask which particular shader you used in RetroArch, please? I wanna use it myself!
It's the gbc 10x shader from the slang shades directory, and I added a bit to the lcd response time to give it a bit of ghosting
@@NintendoComplete I can't find that shader anywhere. Can you help me out lol
Looks great, thank you! I wonder, can you save on this game or is it unlinited countinues?
Is there any way to play this in color in a nes mini?
What would have looked like if the Megaman GB collection for GBA had been released...
what emulator has that GBC frame? I want that lol
What retroarch shaders and overlay are you using here?
I wish I could find this prepatched since idk how to patch it.
I use a mobile emulator
6:06 I can’t tell if you actually messed up 3 times or if that was just a bit
The perfect christmas gift for the megaman fanbase.
This playthrough is exactly 01 hour: 36 minutes: and 39 seconds long.
hello friend all good?
I downloaded the game but I can't play it on the Game Boy Color emulator for android
I've tested it on several emulators on my phone but I can't play
The game was beautiful and I really wanted to play
I am from Brazil
Thank you very much and a big hug friend
The intro to this game is _ridiculous_ y'all. Rock and Roll are just out for a casual walk when some tall dude with 80s glam rock hair warps in. He wipes the floor with Rock, whose Buster is useless even when charged, and when he wakes up back in the lab, it's to find Dr. Light going "lol I dunno man, do a rocket punch!"
And the game has the audacity to calling the small boy robot's rocket punch the 'most powerful weapon ever devised'! My brother in Christ it's a child lobbing his fist at people! And it replaces the charge shot, so it takes him a second before he can do it! This is the second silliest charge attack I've ever seen, being only beaten by DBZ's Piccolo!
This made me spit out my drink.
Congratulations sir, you have made my day.
*Switch owners:* When are we getting GB virtual consooole...?
*Smart people:* 0:00
buenas maniobras megaman catboy
These stages are hella long!
復活ロックマンキラー四天王
46:01 Deep Digger is just a downgraded Super Arm.
good one Nintendo
Damn it 1:06:45
Megaman world 5
Is it just me, or do some colors seem pale? I swear a couple of the enemies in Mercury's stage still look monochrome
Milen is correct, it’s because of the filter. The patch is in the description if you want to try it out!
@@amso7169 Nah, I checked a normal video of this and it seems like some enemies only have a few colors
This MMV colorization job is top notch, and seeing it like this makes me wish we got the game on the NES.
I guess it's time to make a hack lol
It also removes the slowdown from the original game! That was a common issue with the original that is thankfully gone here. Great hack, I’ve been playing it recently and it just reminds me how impressive this game already was on the Game Boy.
There was plans for full-colored Megaman World games on the GBA. An anniversary collection with all 5. But as you'd expect of Capcom, that never came to light.
Why did you keep dying in the Mercury stage in the beginning?
@@christopherthibeault7502 If you die and continue 4 times in a row in a stage, Dr. Light upgraded your Mega Arm with the Turbo Accelerator. This increases the speed of all your shots. If you do this three more times, it's further upgraded to have them go even faster, as well as reduce charge time.
