Want to give you a great Thank you for what you do! Not to many people do that for there community! Can’t wait to see the progress of your project and good luck! Hope you get better on your injuries as well!
I have no idea what the start up cost & difficulty finding breeding stock would be, but you might want to look into possibly breeding jungle cocks as a high value product. I bought 2 of my jungle cock necks from a Maine fly shop owner who used to breed them. He did say they were a pain in the neck to keep. Another feather producer is Guinea fowl. According to videos I’ve seen, they make pretty good “watch birds,” are relatively easy to take care of, & are even willing to gang up on snakes coming into their yard. Please note that my only experience with these birds is buying their skins from a fly shop. Best of luck.
sounds like you have struck upon the meaning of life...service to others and contributing to your community. 20 years active and 14 more as a civilian contractor I have been to a few places just like you described...even a very busy flight training base in Oklahoma...plenty jets and a small midwestern kind of town. People such as yourself are invaluable to an improved quality of life for those around you. Always enjoy your fly tying videos, look forward to updates on you new venture. Thanks for all you are doing in you community...dave
