- The list of acts who played Toronto’s famed El Mocambo nightclub in its ’70s-to-’90s heyday reads like a veritable Who’s Who of rock, soul, jazz and R&B. The Fender Custom Shop is excited to introduce a very special Master Built paired instrument set-the Limited Edition El Mocambo Telecaster and Stratocaster, crafted by Masterbuilder Ron Thorn, himself a Toronto native. Limited to 25 paired sets, the instruments are fashioned from 300-year-old eastern white pine reclaimed from the rafters between floors one and two during the massive 2014 renovation of Canada’s most famous nightclub. El Mocambo Stratocaster & Telecaster | Dream Factory | Fender

SRV live at The Mocambo is one of the best performances of a guitar player, of a band and of a crowd. Just magic.
Yes but, Austin City Limits 1989 is SRV at his best. His brilliancy really shined when he was sober.
@@nichohells That's why I said "one of the best" but well, I hope that soon the Fender Custom Shop will make a version with Austin City Limits as a concept/theme, so you can understand that there is no such thing as "yes, but" when it comes to personal feelings.
Early 80ies Stevie was at the peak of his powers ,raw emotion, you are 100% right, best performance.
Holy shit. My band was the very last to play the El Mo before it closed... These are just wow...
Arianna is impressive indeed, great tones and riffage.
I played at the El Macambo in 2006 at a battle of the bands. Was such an honor to do that knowing the legend himself and so many other great bands had been there too. This is such a great idea for a guitar. Legendary venue.
Wow, I go to the ElMo often. My Dad, however, has seen almost all the big shows there from 1970-199X including SRV, Jimi U2, Jeff Healey, Stones etc.. His best friend worked there and got him in. I still have all his lil tickets, posters and flyers from almost every show he'd been to.
Maybe I can sell a kidney...
When they invent time machines, my first order of business is going to that SRV and Double Trouble concert at the El Mocambo!
They already have them, just bring me back a chunk of that wood !!!!!
Always awesome to watch Arianna Powell play.
Twisted Tele Neck and Texas Special Bridge is my favourite combo. Wow...
I once owned a Fender Modern Player Telecaster, which had a pine body. I fondly remember that guitar. Pine wood has a great tone.
how its just solid wood the pickups are what makes the sound
@@nikolabakich9709 It's more than that.
Things like this usually don’t get me excited, but that tele…ohhhhhh yayyyyy Kool Aid man style. Very cool story behind these and the wood is just…
I got to see a bunch of shows there living in Toronto and it was by far the most special place to see live shows.
Having played at the El Mocambo a large number of times, being a huge guitar collector, and specifically being a Stratocaster player my entire life, I think I need to have one of these!
Absolutely stunning. Fender are without a doubt the number one in this game.
🤘🎸🔥
I may have spilled some beer on those boards... hazy memories of the Elmo. The Blasters in the early 80s, Clarence Clemons, Johnny Thunders damn that place rocked big time.
Oh Canada 🇨🇦 Our home is a rocking, don't bother knocking, just come on in eh!!! Down right amazing 👏 you make us all proud Ron. Thanks
Time for a loan and a Timmies!!!
That wood has crazy mojo from all of the bands!!!
I played downstairs at the Elmo once lol … very cool guitars though, my home town, and live and work in his place of birth now (Brampton) and my own personal memory of the Elmo is watching the SRV live vhs tape about 1,000,000 times over and over again. Great job guys …. Wish I could afford this set.
If you know what's right, you have watched the SRV VHS about at least a million and one times.
My favourite masterbuilder from Fender. I dream to have a guitar made and crafted by Ron Thorn.
allways is a pleasure to watch a RT guitar making .
Fender released the Nile Rodgers Hitmaker Stratocaster, and the El Mocambo Strat and Tele within the same week. Great work Fender.
The good old “El Mo” needs to be immortalized and no better way than building guitars from their old timbers. Good times under the neon palms in the 70s and 80s. 😎🇨🇦🎸
Ron Thorn is by far one of the Best Luthiers! 🎸
Damn you Fender. I was born and raised in TO…. And the El Mo has played a key role in my rock n roll upbringing. I would sell every piece of gear I have to get this set! Thank you for doing this, you can see how much love and emotion you’ve put into this.
Same.
there is nothing on this planet that i want more than this strat. wow.
Urn idiot if u belive this SRV stage wood fairy tail...omg u people are so naive...Its a cnc machine soules crap same as any modern mexican tele or strat....
the amount of beer & god knows what else that’s fell on these floor boards lmao. mojo baby
The Fender Custom Shop (Josefina) pickups are the best money that money can buy.
Just WOW!!!
Gotta love the Elmo’
Fender are making hype out of nowhere, now i want that strat
I played at the mocambo once and it was truly a genuine experience that I would repeat again
That tele looks amazing
Now THAT is how you save some freakin' trees 😎
Thank you from Toronto, I remember the El Mocambo, and just up the road on Spadina the Silver Dollar; I would just love to own this guitar, depending on the cost.
Let's not forget Grossmans - live music is better!🇨🇦
What an excellent project, my sincere congratulations
"Welcome to the El Macambo! It's boogie night tonight." You know what comes next...
Cool. I never knew Ron Thorn was from the GTA.
You see Ron, you know it’s gonna be good
Using these as inspiration. Im making two guitars out of 100+ year old douglas fir and these are just the vibe I’m hoping to achieve. My god these sound incredible
I’d love one of those, they look and sound awesome.
I heard some Ron Thorn guitars on youtube, to be honest, he knows how to making a guitar sounds so good. He knows the tone!!! Great principal!
Those axes worth Billions over billions of Dollars! DAMN!
From one builder to another, thats badass. Well done job with those. I like the pickup choices. I get it 100%
Wow that sounds amazing 🔥 would be nice to have one of those
Awesome. Loucin Guitars built some guitars as well with the El Mocambo woods…
Amazing!!!!!!!!
Nice, but why is there full court press for 25 guitars?
This is insane awesome!! Thanks for doing this club justice
I don't watch many of these all the way through. I think this is #2 🙏❤️👌
That Tele sounds INCREDIBLE. 😱
as soon as i heard el mocambo im thinking stevie ray vaughan. In the last 2 years ive bought the pro2 strat, pro 2 jazzmaster, american player strat and just picked up the jay mascis tele i love them all. They all sleep tucked up within a meter of me and at that point i thought i was done looks like im not dam you fender please stop this im just a man
Another great video! Really love the fender media and of course the guitars too.
Would love to own that stratocaster ‼️💯
Makes sense. The first tele prototypes were pine.
This is so good. Would love to own one.
I aspire to be you in my little hobby music shop - currently building two different teles one lefty staying fairly true to traditional 50s and one righty with dual p90s maple necks and 120 year old reclaimed Canadian douglas fir bodies eh 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
Only 1 word can describe these guitars. Gorgeous!!!!!!!!
nice!
I bought one of fenders necks, a one piece ASH body, and dropped in Fender Custom Shop Texas Specials pick ups. Every bit as good as what Fender is trying to sell. I built it for $800.00, and would put it up against any guitar fender builds for an exorbitant amount of money. -BUILD YOUR OWN!
great job on these guitars ron!
these things scream and definitely have character! i would kill for one but money always seems to be the issue 😂
That's the kind of guitar that heirs squabble over in a will.
This is my absolute dream guitar, sadly i'm young and broke, pls send me one fender xD
WOW!!!
Who is the lady's playing here?
Thanx
Awesome! 🇨🇦
Loved this!
Also, it was pretty funny because for some reason my closed captioning was on and the "El Mocambo" was being spelled "Elma Combo". Maybe that should be the name of the matching amp? lol
This is AMAZING! Love the Punk/New Wave history! ❤
Great Guitar! 🎸
Is this for sale anywhere yet? And can you buy just the Strat ?
Thats Fender. Always creative. Bravo!
This set of rare guitars will probably triple in value within a few years.
Great work Fender.
Looks like Fender’s been paying attention to the folks at Carmine Street Guitars.
So cool and so unbuyable
These are really cool!
Where can I buy the set here in Toronto? Seriously.
Well, because my fiance is a US/Canadian dual-citizen and I'm a big SRV fan, I think I deserve the Strat. Lol lol lol
Absolute Fire
Want one!!
Woooww.. Thank You 👏
Austin City Limits 1989 is SRV at his best. His brilliancy really shined when he was sober.
But STEVIE'S blitzed blaze was most awesome @ El Mocambo . . . . .just TICKLE ME ELMO !!!!!
HAAAAAAB, MERCY!!!! 😲
FENDER!!!!! I Can't Stand Anymore ...I Have NO MONEY LEFT!!!! STOP IT!!!! ❤️
P.S. If I Win The Lottery.......😜
Wish I was the Queen of england so I could afford one.
以后一定要买一把,挂在家里,没事弹弹也挺好
where can I buy one?
Cool
Nice!
I swear to go there better be left handed models
I'm usually very cynical about these kinds of models, mostly because they are priced so extremely high, but these are very cool.
I do not want to know the price.
Great playing on this promo btw.
what is that gorgeous music called at 0:52 pls
Nice
Would kill go get hold of one of these, but way out of my league
2:43 what!?? he said that fretboard sounds so good so musical..?i know people always talking about tonewood thing, but com'on that piece of african black wood not even cut yet , just a little knock on the wood, he can tell that wood sounds so musical..?
Couldn’t give me a guitar made of pine.
SRV!!!!
'Pine' means 'light'? Never know that. I own Classic Vibe Tele builded on pine and it's heavy like hell.
Ahh, but it's not 300 year old pine, is it ???
@@sambone8348
Pine is pine. I'm not a wood specialist. But you can tell me more, if you want to.
@@Robert_Fordin If the wood is older, that can make it lighter and have a richer sounding musicality !!!
@@sambone8348
Ok., how light is that one?
Pine? hmmm.... I don't know!
I gotta be honest, I don’t get these. The wood and craftsmanship is really great on these, but at the end of the day it’s just a strat and I don’t feel like there would be enough of a difference between other guitars
Exactly. It’s basically just a collectable.
Let me guess: no lefty models😞
The guitars look and sound great but........
Credit the guitar player please!
A knot in the body ???? No way !!!!
So many bloos dads
Sheer drool. Looks in wallet, Nope. But I can dream.
