❓What Is The Sandbox ❓
The non-blockchain version of the game has been around on iOS and Android since 2012. Here’s the deal; it was damn popular with 40 million downloads and with 70 million worlds created.
That’s why it is the most highly anticipated crypto game out there.
In a short, the game is all about creating an immersive metaverse where players create virtual worlds and games collectively and without a central authority.
So how big are world building games? Well, Minecraft boasts 126 players and Roblox around 100 million. In my video, I go into the ways that the Sandbox aims to compete with these traditional gaming juggernauts.
Now, what are the components of the Sandbox ecosystem?
► Voxedit: Is a powerful 3D voxel modelling package, which allows users to create those in-game items and export them to the marketplace.
► Sandbox marketplace: which allows users to upload, publish and sell their creations made using VoxEdit, as both ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens.
► Game Maker: Allows anyone who owns Sandbox assets to place them within a piece of land.
🏞️ Lands 🏞️
LANDs are pieces of digital real estate within the Sandbox metaverse that players can buy to build experiences on top of. That means you can populate them with in-game assets to create unique gaming experiences.
The important thing to note is that each LAND is issued as an NFT that lives on the Ethereum blockchain. So yes, you have full control over them.
These assets have a capped supply of 166,464.
⚔️ In-Game Assets ⚔️
Different assets have different levels of rarity. Some only have one or two copies in the world, which means you can easily corner the market for certain in-game items. However, as the game is in closed-Alpha, you are unlikely to be flipping them to bank profit here anytime soon.
🏖️ SAND 🏖️
SAND is the utility token used throughout the Sandbox ecosystem and has three main use-cases:
► Acts as a medium of exchange
► Governance, which enables holders to participate in governance decisions.

The max supply of SAND is 3 billion tokens with a current circulating supply of under 600 million. That means that token holders can expect to see additional supply hitting the market in the future.
However, there are demand drivers for the token in the near future, with around $3.5 million worth of lands to be sold in the next public sale.

You need to be aware that Land investments won’t be as liquid as tokens. However, they are tradable on secondary NFT marketplaces.

I love the idea of The Oasis from Ready Player One and hope it becomes a reality in my lifetime. I think Decentraland might have the best chance, but lots more virtual metaverse are popping up.

I think I brought the top but I only play small so no problem its long long term to me. I think these vr tokens could become something huge and there could be multiple games and uses for the coins as the eco systems build up. Both sand and mana. Both are very low cap coins too.
All games have a finite lifespan ... and that is something you don't have any control over. You need to be a little crazy to spend real money on virtual in-game assets and yes, there are people that will, but probably because they are also speculating on making a return, otherwise they likely wouldn't bother. It will be interesting to see if the game is more popular with speculators or gamers.

i wondered since the sandbox is a virtual world - why does it have to be flat and 2 dimensional ? why not putting the houses on a klein bottle, a möbius strip or a torus ? why not living in a 3d projection of a 10 dimensional space since it's a virtual world ?

OK, with all seriousness.. this is by far the best overall explanation I've heard about these virtual worlds on the crypto market but I have some concerns. First, who is the target audience for the people just playing games in this world.. kids?? Yes I understand adults play Minecraft but for the most part its overwhelmingly people under 18. So with that in mind how are people under 18 going to be purchasing Sand? Why would their parents allow all those microtransactions when then can simply buy Minecraft for a box price? I do see that retailers can advertise in these worlds etc so I fully (or near fully) understand how to monetize but in the end these worlds are little more than smart phone style games that cost per game instead of one single price. My point being people aren't going to be overly excited about using Sandbox outside of people trying to monetize it. Outside of the possibility to make money, there isn't really a draw to these kind of games from people who have means to purchase Sand or crypto. In the end it will end up like Second Life, only populated by the content creators with nobody to sell content to. Fill me in someone.
im late, but my thoughts exactly. I think if players earned $SAND just for playing and for completing goals, it would be a perfect system. Without this it seems too expensive to play or even try out for younger players.
Young people get older, Anyone over 25 now doesnt get Minecraft really, people exposed to gaming game throughout their lives for the most part, there is some loss in adulthood, but plenty of retention. Minecraft type audiences havent had chance to reach an age yet

We're looking to use layer-2 so that the transaction fees are kept small all handled in the SAND ecosystem, then bundle it all together for the Ethereum blockchain so we aren't clogging that chain. I'm an artist on the game, not a blockchain expert, but you can check out The Sandbox's whitepaper, or check out our streams and you can ask our stream producer (Joseph) while we're live for some more in-depth blockchain info since he knows more about that than me. Streams are on the official Sandbox channel and my own, 1pm Eastern Time on Saturdays.

Would be keen to hear your take on "Gods Unchained" which is basically a crypto version of Magic The Gathering, when one considers the player base of MTG & the success of WOTC as well as the popularity hype around MTG Arena there's definitely massive potential as Arena doesnt allow you to trade anything you purchase via in game stores which makes calling it "ownership" a farce - im yet to try it out but intend to do so soon

Sandbox has massive potential if it stays true to its open source and FFAP’s (freeforAllpatents) intrinsic values. Later communities will create new planets either from the bottom-up for free in free space, or/and supplement with examples generated by others, and therefore barterworthy . In that way there is room to attract the hidden or shy geniuses around (1/millions). In this way projections of engendered modules can be showcased function wise before send to a 3D printer for Proto-types before escalating. Thereby direct link from on-chain to off-chain manifestation. I fx wish to create this open source approx.true bio functional model of the human body, with an access as in the beginning with Wikipedia or the idea of it at least. And where you can zoom in to intracellular ecosystems to molecular and DNA wise. And zoom out and become an immunecell with superpowers in In-game mode, that can be synchronized and adapted to fx a persons somatic data, scans, etc as one wish. So both have it as an in game world and also as an scientifically 3D projectified virtual landscape to explore as a student and researcher and build and by new valuable data links. Everything in the end needs to be valuable and usable even when you don’t need money in a healthy culture anymore
