Heya Ludi, I spent most of my time playing Japan these days. Have you noticed a point where having a major literacy drastically increases the minimum SOL of your pops even with public healthcare. Cheapening the price of consumer goods as a solution is a double bladed sword since it reduces the wages of my workforce there which leads to even worse SOL. Ever since I started playing vic 3, I have been an avid fan of your channel. I love and enjoy your content and can’t wait to see more.
My favorite thing to do as Japan is take as much of the islands early as I can. Sulu is easy to break in and still gold production. Always helps me a lot. And the great powers only seem aggressive until someone opens the market and then they all want to trade, at least in my experiences on the new patch so far. Britain even helped me take parts of Siam around 1850, though it all delayed the honorable restoration progress
Did they implement a way to nationalize ONLY foreign factories? In previous patches i was nationalizing first buildings from my pops and only then it allowed me to nationalize foreign factories
Is this an early access version? Because I start with a much lower SOL as Japan and my people don't really grow at all, in one play through they even declined.
How were you able to colonize Sakhalin in 1837? I have started several Japan games and can't colonize it for whatever reason. Is it locked behind some tech?

the techs you get extremely depend on what you want to do first, for countries behind on tech you want to usually research society techs first as they are pretty good and unlock laws to get rid of the landowners' power and they are usually also behind on bureaucracy. When you are done with preferrably the economy side of the society tech tree you will need Railways by that point for the infrastructure, so rush to the railway triangle and research the tech you need more first, mechanized workshops if you need more consumer goods and the atmospheric engine if you need more raw minerals. extra things you might wanna know about You dont have to worry too much about military as long as you have an european, preferrably russian, french (not recommended as they usually fall into a civil war or if lucky, british) defence pact as trying to improve your army is time spent NOT improving your society and economy.
