STAR TV是李嘉诚于1991创立，由其子李泽楷运营，李泽楷1993年将STAR TV出售给默多克，1995年被默多克完成全部收购。默多克花了数十亿美金收购STAR TV，其目的是想打入中国大陆市场，他曾于1994年接触中国广电部门领导商谈STAR TV落地中国大陆全境的闭路电视网，但谈判以失败告终。后来刘长乐找到了默多克经过几十轮谈判后，把卫视中文台拆分，最终成立“凤凰卫视中文台”其成员并入“凤凰卫视中文台”，由于默多克与刘长乐在节目运营和理念上有根本不同，默多克认为凤凰卫视中文台，应该是娱乐、娱乐、再娱乐。而刘长乐是搞新闻出身，认为凤凰卫视应该以新闻立台，以新闻为主，后默多克于2002年成立星空卫视，专门对中国大陆播出，中国广电部门先前答应在几年之后就可以让星空卫视在中国大陆全境落地播出，但最终是一纸空文，没有兑现承诺。星空卫视在2007年以后逐渐衰退，最终默多克出售“星空卫视”和抛售凤凰卫视全部股份。

And Star Movies China Still use the branding That was being used in Philippine and VN till 2017 before Rebrading to Fox Movies

好像是和記黃埔公司與英國天空電視台、美國默多克傳媒合資成立的電視公司，面向全亞洲播出。中文台是免費的，電影台、體育台、Channel V、西片台是要收費的耶，當年看到STAR TV 感覺很酷耶。
1994年後分成台灣與中國訊號(兩間不同的公司)
