I am a Born and Bred Scouser but I always remember my trips to Birkenhead Market when I was a Kid. I am 62 now and they were some happy times. Sometime we would go by Ferry and sometime by Train but I always enjoyed those Lovely days. It seems like yesterday, if only. 👍😊
Absolutely Brilliant, brought back many happy memories, I was born in vulcan street, 1960 ,,police station at the bottom of are road opposite the pub, great times many thanks, brought a tear to my eyes looking at these , Thankyou so much xx
Great scenes of old Birkenhead - I even found myself in the Birkenhead Market photo with my aunt looking at the Jewellery counter many many years ago. There are so many photies on utube but a lot of yours I have never seen before. Thank you for posting this.
My local church. I've found an epic one with dock cottages behind and nothing around the church, so quite old but I will put it in the video I do for the north end
i was born in norfolk as my mum had to come here from argyle street during the war to get away from the bombing there, she told me many stories of her life as a child in Birkenhead, of a place that helped poor families called "thompsons mission" and the kiddies hospital where her little sister stayed a lot in the 1930s. i always tried to picture it in my mind so i can now take a peek thanks to you.
@@TheLuigi69 as the community got too big to control, it seemed to have been ploughed. Just pulled together some pubs in Chester Street and from priory area, even got one of the tenements to put in a video
I remember Grange mount maternity hospital, I was born there in 1950 on the 26 of July , I was a prem baby 👶 under three pounds my twin brother unfortunately died shortly after being born , it was only the expertise of the Hospital staff Doctors and nurses that I survived .

Think a few old maps from each community is worthwhile, shows just so much housing we have lost

Beautiful music makes the pictures even more poignant 🌟
So interesting and well put together. Thank you.
I'd forgotten about the Empire where they used to show all those risqué foreign films in the early 60's.
