    Anthony Warlow is an opera trained legend of Australian musical theatre. He was our original Phantom of the Opera and has also starred on Broadway. I was at this concert and it was epic. John, Anthony and Olivia had the most amazing chemistry together, so much fun. Anthony's version of Music of the night was really something not to miss. Great reaction guys.

      Not forgetting John was Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, him singing Gethsemane was spectacular. The whole show was amazing with Kate, John & Jon how could they go wrong.
      Ps I know it’s not opera 😂

      The part of the performance where Anthony makes out to spit phlegm on John, when he asks for a towel was taking off Michael Crawford's character Frank Spencer from Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em; Michael Crawford was the original Phantom in Phantom of the Opera.

      @@jayweb51 Yes, Anthony was Australia’s original Phantom of the Opera. He’s a great mimic and does a pretty good Frank Spencer.😂

    John is the greatest and most versatile vocalist of all time, he can sing anything, any genre even opera as you see here. And Anthony Warlow is a great Aussie opera singer. Epic.

    A very funny in joke when John imitates Michael Crawford’s voice. Both Michael and Anthony did long runs of the phantom of the Opera and Michael also starred in a comedy called “Some mothers do ‘ave them “

    An Aussie here. You MUST please check out, at the same concert, Anthony Warlow singing in his main genre - musical theatre - 'This Is The Moment,' from the musical, 'Jekkyl and Hyde'. It is sooo moving ! Opera-trained Anthony is very well-known for his musical theatre career in Australia. and like John, a lovely down-to-earth guy. That concert, 'The Main Event' with Olivia Newton-John also, was sold-out many times over, as are all of John's concerts. (Co-incidentally all three have experienced the disease of cancer - Anthony lost his hair due to the treatment of it and Olivia died from it after a long battle. John, thankfully, has recently survived it and is now cancer free.) I am enjoying your gentle, considered approach and partnership of discussion.

    Another Terrific Review. The whole video of this concert is on UA-cam, with John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John & Anthony Warlow. It’s called *The Main Event* Brilliant concert, the 3 of them mix and match songs. End of vid is great - Back stage behind the scenes, lots of laughs. Too long to review, only if u want to watch in your own time 😊

    The Main Event Concert toured for 3 months. Every night was a packed house no matter how big the venue was. We love Anthony and he is always the star of the best stage musicals. This concert was funny, touching and wonderful. I know people who saw it early and booked up to 3 more shows to see it over and over again. I have only seen it on here because I was stuck in the desert in the Outback for 2 years working with my husband.

    Granada is a song written in 1932 by Mexican composer Augustin Lara, and is about the Spanish city of Granada; in respect to popular belief, this song was not written for any musical but as a song in it's own right.

    Anthony Warlow had treatment for throat cancer, Olivia NJ had breast Cancer, this was John's way of getting their careers re-started, with his help. Olivia died not long after John was diagnosed with cancer in his Jaw bone. 11 hours in surgery. He's doing well, that was a while ago, and at his age he can retire or keep doing charity do's, as he chooses. He does sing around the house, he has horses to ride and breed, and a wealth of jokes, which he kept the doctors on their toes with. He has family to surround himself with. Look for the recent movie, of his life.

    Always happy to see John Farnham reactions and Anthony Warlow has one of the greates modern operatic voices ive ever heard. He is also so so funny and does great impersonations especially of Frank Spencer .
    You might enjoy this clip of John and Anthony together doing a medley of songs together and a bit of a comedic scit after they sing.
    The songs are That's Life and Bad Habits

    I don't know if you ever saw the British Comedy called 'Some Mothers Do Ave Em' starring Michael Crawford, who as the British and American Phantom in Phantom of the Opera. Well Anthony Warlow was Australia's Phantom. When John says "You haven't got a towel down there, have you? No? Well that's alright", well he was having a go at Michael Crawford's character in that show - Frank Spencer. This is a link to a 3 minute excerpt of one of his shows as Frank so you can see how well John imitated Michael's Frank:- ua-cam.com/video/tulFeVPSb7k/v-deo.html

    Enjoying your videos, thank you. Just a tip, Aussies pronounce ss as zz, so Aussies is pronounced Ozzies. Cheers.

    • @barnowl.
      @barnowl. 6 місяців тому

      Do not come near this AuSSie with laZZY- speak AuSSie zeds. I have a double SS in my name and it really annoys me when Australians (of which I am one) pronounce them as zeds ! And what adds to this annoyance is that another name pronounced almost the same as mine, except for a different first letter, that has a C in it but is pronounced (correctly) with an S. AND there is a boy's name, a shortened version of mine, with a SS that gets pronounced correctly . WHAT ? ! ! ? GRRRRRR !

    • @Bellas1717
      @Bellas1717 6 місяців тому +1

      @@barnowl. It’s not laziness, it’s the Australian linguistic style of short first vowel and lengthened second. The reverse of Americans, hence tom-ar-toe/tom-ay-toe. It isn’t universal for that reason - Jessica, bassinet, misspell, etc are pronounced with an s because of the structure of the first vowel. Probably why you have the differences you mention. And why your laZZy would actually be pronounced la-zee not lay-zee. Do you really say Aussie as Ossie? There’s one in every 26 million I guess.

    • @barnowl.
      @barnowl. 6 місяців тому

      @@Bellas1717My name's first syllable with an easy -to-say vowel before the SS is still pronounced incorrectly to ZZ. ( It rhymes with boss, toss, loss.) Even when I hyphenate between the first and second syllables the pronunciation by others STILL falls to ZZ ! I do say AuSSie. I am particular with pronunciation having spent many years teaching young children how to speak correctly. Australian elocution teachers comment that Australians speak as if they have a strong rubber band around their jaw, preventing the wide opening of it in speech. It's something to do with the many flies in Australia, methinks ! (I am Australian. )

    • @Bellas1717
      @Bellas1717 6 місяців тому +1

      @@barnowl. It’s not about easy-to-say, it’s about the actual construction of the word. I teach English language to new arrivals in Australia, but I teach them to be understood in Australian culture. You have every right to swim against the tide, but you can’t say the tide is going the wrong way - AuSSie is not correct pronunciation in Australian linguistics and culture.
      You have every right to insist on your name being pronounced the way you wish it to be, and it’s hard when that doesn’t happen. I have a similar difficulty with my name in that it is two words said as one, but government depts insist on the first one only. Grrr.
