The advent of astro turf made a huge difference to our preparation on the international scenario .coz we had won literally every hockey Olympic gold in those days.but the lack of such turf in those days dented our way of approach which other teams utilized to the fullest and changed the fortunes.teams like Australia,germany ,Holland..etc capitalized and the rest is history
