As precious a National Treasure as is the Liberty Bell. Good job on narration. Defies comprehension.

Very nice script and presentation on this intriguing subject by Ranger Whelan. Edmund Schulman's (1908 - 1958) investigation of these trees first ignited public interest in the bristlecones. He estimated that one of those trees (Methuselah), was over 4,800 years old. Today, the section of the forest with the oldest trees is called the Schulman Grove. Inspired by the trees' longevity as an adaptive response to environment, Anthony De Palma wrote that the bristlecones "scold us for allowing adversity to stand in our way instead of adapting to it and turning it to our advantage."

It may be wrong to say this, but it sounds like a good place for a grave.

So beautiful. And to think these are the oldest single living organisms on earth. Saw them at Inyo Nat. Forest last year and was awed by their presence.

Actually, the Park Service needs more funds to protect and enhance our parks. When the water main at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon breaks six times in five months, and replacement is scheduled for 2025... we have a problem.

I heard there’s a 9,000 years old dead one. Is that true? Why don’t we take it down and study it then preserve it and put it in a National museum(s) or some sort of national mall museum in a glass case. Then future generations of Americans to come can enjoy it before the elements rip it apart. A family heirloom for the whole family .
