Midnight. For me, it has always felt like the darkest part of night. My life has been a series of waiting. Waiting on God to make good on His words and all His promises. Twelve is a big number in Scripture. God seems to like these two numbers put together. As the “Bridegroom,” He waits to show up until midnight. Even Boaz finds Ruth (Ruth 3:8) laying at his feet, at midnight. I wrestled with this and as I went into write a record about Light, I had to address the hour of midnight. I had been tossing questions at God and one night He simply replied to my whine about why He seemed to be the last hour God. He reminded me that midnight, to me the darkest hour, was actually the first hour of the new day. It was dawn. Here I was thinking He was waiting when He was actually arriving at the first hour. I cannot think of a more appropriate time to release the first song of this new record of Light, by telling the story of a first hour God rushing in to show himself never late, always right on time!
I have been a fan since seeing and hearing you at a praise and worship conference in Pensacola in 95,,, your lyrics were always so intimate. I had never known about intimacy in God's presence,, till then. And once again,, bringing me to the throne room. Thank you for sharing your worship ❤️

How I loved and miss worshiping under you on Saturday nights in Kirkland. I think the last time i got to live, was in Seattle, with Laurie Ascanio singing behind me. No place I'd rather be. It was a taste of heaven and I can't wait to get there, where the throne room will always be open and the singing will not end, I can remain there as long as I want. I heard about 5 seconds of this song as I was getting out the car last night and by the grace of God, I remembered to search for it and I"m so glad I did. I first heard you sing in Pensacola around 1994. I brought my worship team to your concert and we were so inspired, I can still here you singing "Better is One Day" while sitting at the grand piano with no backup band. I wish you could fully know how much God has used your songs to build His kingdom, to bring hope to the hopeless, and healing to the broken. Our church loves "Defender" and it's message has made a difference in many people that I know. Midnight follows that track with solid theology, beautiful melody, and a message of hope that brings strength and confidence to the believer. Thank you for a lifetime of embracing His plan for you and sharing the fruit of powerful worship that can only be birthed in the winepress.
