- India's first semi-high speed train the Vande Bharat Express was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today from the New Delhi railway station.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and members of the Railway Board were on board the train on its inaugural journey. The launch was a sombre affair in the wake of the terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama.

If they run at 130 kmph then no use...tracks should be improved for upto 300 kmph. And it should run at 180-200 kmph. Then only effective average speed will be around 150 kmph considering stoppage time etc.

Moreover this is just the first train...more of them will be coming soon and they’ll be put to use all over India ^it will take time to put fences and to replace old tracks **Major problem is that people don’t take care of public property...which makes me sad
