Bill Ward didn't just play drums, he played what the song needed. That's what makes him so great. Coming up with interesting and original parts that fit perfectly is a talent very few drummers have. Always remember, he didn't have Google and UA-cam to figure stuff out and learn new things. He created it.
Ringo had that ability as well as Nick Mason from Pink Floyd. They play with the song requires
That is exactly what Lars is to Metallica!
Heaviest drummer on the planet
will someone quote the great John Bonham?!!!
@@lepetitoiseau John Bonham Quotes
"I've wanted to be a drummer since I was about five years old. ...
"When I left school I went into the trade with my Dad. ...
"I was so keen to play when I left school, I'd have played for nothing.
His drumming on Symptom of the universe is incredible.
The understatement of the century! :)
I thought he was playing Children of the Grave Lol
Such a shame he never had the chance to join Sabbath for the last reunion tour. Saw them in 2015, it was great but to have Bill Ward would have been legend ! To me, the big 3 of the 70's drummers are Bonham, Paice and Ward !
Moon?
100% agree
powel ????
I think probably Peart, Moon, Bonham.
@@derrickcook19941 Moon was nowhere near to Paice or Ward.... and Peart was still in development in the 70s
Bill's jazzy and no-pattern style is hypnotic!
no reverse sticks for Bill on this one!🔥
So raw and savage, still works today
He cites big band musicians like Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich and Louie Bellson as his early influences, that's why.
If he is not in the modern drummer hall of fame he should. A jazz Drummer who invented metal drumming. Ward One!
Bill Ward is a treasure of music history.
ABSOLUTELY, his style is drumming, lead drumming,3 genius musicians with a lunatic on the mic,200 YEARS FROM NOW,they will be listening to the beats of sabbath,BILL WARD IS SABBATH'S BEAT
All 4 original members of Black Sabbath are still alive...this song is over 50 years old...it's amazing really!
Phantastic
I was just thinking the same thing as I was watching. The fact that they’re all still alive is really incredible.
More healthy athletes die today than old rock stars, many more.
I remember speaking to disco bunnies back in the 70‘s. They were convinced Sabbath and the like were history. I told them they will outlive disco by hundreds of years. I think they’ll be crying in their sequins now.
I like how the Guitar player was pushing time and Bill kept him right in the pocket. He might not have the technique he once did, but he's locked in.
The guitar player was all over the place . Very rough listen as a guitar player lol but damn Bill ward is still a POWERHOUSE behind the kit
Thanks. Things seemed off and I thought it might have been Ward.
Never seen anything with Ira Black that impressed me. Always a slopfest.
I love how Bill kept the pace under control to where they didn't run away into some kinda thrash metal tune. He knows the Sabbath sound he helped create and it sounds original by his pacing
I love how atmospheric Bill is on the older Sabbath albums. He doesn't care about laying down the beat, all he cares about is the "feel" of the overall story that's being told and it's amazing.
Thank You Bill-- your a legend !
He was very orchestral.
Bills like “wtf have I gotten myself into” 👀
Bill ward is not a drummer. BILL WARD IS A LEGGEND!
O melhor baterista do mundo em minha opinião from brazil
Indeed
Legend is spelled with 1 G.....
You can hear how Bill is forcing these guys to swing.
Indeed. Exactly what I noticed too
I'm still not giving up on one more Sabbath album with Bill Ward behind that kit! 😈🤘
Oz can’t sing anymore.
bill use the attack as a cymbal... like keith moon!!! what a legend... I hope the 4 guys from birmingham make a last gig, its my dream
So great to see Bill Ward still playing drums.
I can't play like Bill Ward to save my life but he has influenced my playing beyond measure with his phrasing and approach. Such a wonderfully unique talent.
Absolutely Trey. The guy is still a hell of a drummer.
You can plqy better than him in 2018 I'm sure
Yes! Bill! Drumming like 1977...
Great vocals !! And I like how the leader singer didn't try to overshadow Bill. Great performance !
Vocalist surprised for sure.
Bills a legend, after he had health problems and a heart attack in the late 90s I never would have imagined he would still be alive and doing so good, the way things are looking I think he'll outlive ozzy.
There you have it a living heavy metal legend.. one of my principal insiprations to start to playing drums 15 years ago.
Sabbath wouldn´t be the legend they are now without him.
ALL HAIL BILL WARD!!
These guys did a great job!!!!!!!
Sabbath is my favorite band in the universe. Really great!
1:03 "Yeaaaaaah Bill Ward" todos somos ese tipo
A legend and they all watch through phones. Bewildering 🤦♂️
One of the best drummers of all time!!!
Legendary drummer. One of the biggest forces he hung the unique sound and groove of Sabbath.
He is a GREAT GREAT drummer !! He is a KING of KING !! Please come back to Black Sabbath 1 more time .
Beyond priceless to have Mr. Bill Ward on drums, I'm not even high right now but feel absolutely stoned......during the entire beloved tune of this song played......
Talk about an honor. What a drumming legend.
How cool to jam with Bill Ward . Much respect 🥁🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️
You guys are so lucky to enjoy much of an honor and a blessing to be playing with one fourth of Black Sabbath iconic greatness. Bill Ward.
Bill wards drumming helped sabbath be black sabbath man. Wish he couldve been on those last 2 tours.
No Words. Bill Ward is a huge Influence.
Is this the bs Ozzy said nowadays Bill can't play? Dude he's f* killing it. It wasn't the same without him, those drum fills and that jazzy groove are all what made Sabbath classic sound. What a shame he wasn't part of the final tour.
agreed. just like kicking adler out of g n r . the feel was lost
thank you Sharon NOT!!! 🤨🙄😤 😡
Thanks Bill! Legend hoping hear more from you
Me too
I got to see this live and sing "Black Sabbath" that night. Seeing Bill play I get the whole original line up thing in a new way :)
Fucking awesome 👍
Love Bill. So humble and so cool. He was a beast!!! True legend of rock. We’re not worthy 🤘😎🤘
There's no one like this man, Bill Ward is such a legend, how could his brother's do their last album and say goodbye without him and be okay with it I'll never understand 😔
My goat on drums, the work he did on Master of reality is still insane, 51 years later
Can you imagine jamming with one of the people that actually created this music? He was there man!
Bill Ward up there proving he's still got what it takes. Sounding great!!! 🙏
I love Bill but he's barely holding on here. Too many years of drugs, booze and poor diet and non practice took their toll
Old school will never die! Ultimately kicks ass!!!
Awesome 😎
Bill did a great job!
The other players are fantastic!
Rock on 🤘
Bill bill bill 🤘🤘🤘.
Bill, bill, bill ✌️✌️✌️
I am a Hindu but i shall keep the Sabbath!
I've gotta say, he's still an animal on drums for his age.
The first time i saw a Black Sabbath live, was through a video cassette. I was like 10 years old? My uncle had brought to my father a live of them from Canada. And besides the fact that they all blew my mind, i will never forget my shock when i saw Bill playing his drums. Amazing power. Amazing! I think his drums hated him for many years cause of the constant destruction of them! He was super strong, amazing stamina and incredible groove. You can't become a drummer if you haven't study bill Ward.
one of my favorite drummers
The present times suck. Everyone watching the show through a fucking cell phone screen.
The one and only!
The Return Of The King
I hope bill Ward never gives up the drums
Bill the only one of the greatest I am abig fan I saw
Sabbath 3 time and with Ronny James Dio R I P
Bill Ward is a brilliant master of his craft. None better...few as good.
I never knew he did those four hits quickly with his left hand following the guitar trying to do that with your right hand playing on the ride and keeping your foot going ain't freaking easy don't take that act of Independence for granted. Not to mention Sabbath drums performance and sound were produce so much better than I thought they would sound till I heard him isolated truly amazing and underrated as far as production goes. Plus props to mr. War for his humility.
i ´m down on my own tears , crying out like a baby, bill is still alive, and seems so very welll.
bill bravo !!!!!!
Simplesmente o maior baterista de todos os tempos o mestre bill ward
A LEGENDARY DRUMMER!! FROM A LEGENDARY BAND!!! THE OMIGHTY BILL WARD!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍👍
Bill’s jazz influence very evident here
Ward was such a HUGE part of the Black Sabbath sound, yet most of the talk was about every other member in the band. Crazy.
Uno de los mejores bateristas de todos los tiempos... Un máquina Bill Ward...!!! Maestro SALUD 😋🤘🥁🥁🇺🇾
My 5 drummers favorite:
- Bill Ward (Black Sabbath)
- John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)
- Neil Peart (Rush)
- Keith Moon (The Who)
- Philthy Animal Taylor (Motorhead)
Awesome to see and hear Bill Ward playing this classic live again!
So raw and savage Drummer style, still works today! Rare
Amazing!!!
This matters. It matters so much.
Genuine awesome human being. And a great drummer too! Black Sabbath Forever!
Thanks
So frigging awesome this crowd got to see Bill live! I'm so jealous! :)
Agreed!!!
Very underated !
I see everyone in the crowd is living in the moment.
When a band of 35years, choose to play with an 70+ drummer its a singn of respect, from both sides.
Hand of Doom a great groove but hes made so many great ones 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘😎✌️
All hail this legend beast of the percussion.
Wow. It's like watching the man play that bashed and crashed and pounded out the blueprint of what metal drumming was and is. This man is a Rock God.
I don't play drums but it was first choice of instruments I just didn't have the coordination to play drums but bill wars is what inspired me to get into music and man black Sabbath was my favorite band growing up well all the songs with Ozzy that is they a a few great songs with dio but that's it original sabbath is the best thank you bill ward for all the years of entertaining us brother ROCK ON BROTHER!!
What a legend. Hats fkn down!🤘🤘
That is really one overload of equipment for such a small stage
Much RESPECT Mr Ward🤘🏻
Great Voice !
Creatif Etudes I hope for your sake. That you are being sarcastic.
✌. BILL. !!!!
Ver bil Ward nas baquetas e como ver Jonh Bonham de volta onde os caras tinham que ser feras não tinha tanto recurso de som como e hj em dia top demais abraços de um fã brasileiro.
O.melhor baterista do mundo em minha opinião
From brazil🤘👊
It would be a dream come true if I do get to see the original Black Sabbath here in Hongkong.
Definitely one of the heaviest drummers of all time jazzy and intense they should of closed out the last tour with Ward.
Awesome, ferking awesome.
So thankful to have seen the Birmingham fab four
Cool
Obrigado Bill!!!
DEWEY BRAGG!!! 🤘🤘🤘
The PACE of Bill Ward makes it dark and SABBATH-y ! !
I love how he just swings at it almost at odds with the other three.
Awesome Randy Rhoads guitars on stage!!! ⚪️⚫️👔
What is this that stands before me? It's Bill Ward! Oh Yeah!
First hard rock drummer I discovered.
Minha música preferida,Bill word e foda.😀🤘
