    The pistol squat was displayed to show Yip Man's supernatural ability to kick major ass. He could whoop both Connor McGregor and Habib at the same time

    Leung Jan was going Biu Gee in that last fight! LOL Sometimes we get inspiration by over-analyzing the movies and various media no matter how silly. :) In IPman 3, it was used to shoot in for a tackle but got neck cranked instead. Oh well, So I guess the resemblance to the falling kick was purely incidental. Thanks for clearing up a decade old mystery KFG!
    Looking at Augustine Fong's stuff, it actually is a kick fall also! Is there a chance that the idea did come as a later revelation from Yip Man himself. In the sequence of sifu interviews I've watched, it was Ho Kam Ming (fong's sifu?) who spelled out the words mou ying gerk in reference to wing chun kicks. That's quite a revelation compared to old man kicks. (Could this even be considered a mou ying gerk btw) LT was talking about "ha bun kung fu" and that yipman only taught it to advance students.
    Would be nice to have a database of various Sifu's favorite technique and innovations named after them. I guess I'll label this under wing chun kick # 10. Right after the face kick. :)

    People practice grapples & takedowns as an *Olympic sport*, the idea you can nullify that by standing in a certain way or holding your spine in a special position is just hilarious. The only “anti grappling” that works is to have a basic understanding of grappling. Great video as ever sifu 😉💜

    Student football athletes understand that not all will make it to the NFL. Experts analyzing the selection process reveal that only 1.6 percent will play professionally; the remainder must pursue different paths post-college. Thus, for most, preparing for life beyond college football is essential, and entering the transfer portal has become a strategy for players to secure more financial benefits during their college tenure.

    On the Leung Ting WT anti-ground fighting stuff at the end,.....it is a reverse pistol squat! HA!,... just sit on your rear foot and kick a Man Gerk out.

    • @TheKungFuGenius
      @TheKungFuGenius  12 днів тому +1

      No it’s not! Common misconception, although some instructors under him do teach it that way. You are not supposed to come up on your foot. This is highly unstable!

      @@TheKungFuGenius I meant sit down on the rear foot, not stand up...instead of falling backwards. Only the lowering portion of the pistol (reverse was not the best word, sorry)....the standing up with the push backwards to safety is on one knee the way we do it, or roll back into ready on back again if opponent is still too close.

    I've seen that pistol squat in a lot of wushu performances. I see a variation of it in most wushu style tai chi form performance. I'm assuming it's there so the performer can demonstrate their strength and balance control for the judges.

    I get your take on a realistic Batman. Have you seen BvS? If so, what do you think of the warehouse scene? Grounded or down in the middle? I love that scene bc it resembles a lot the Arkham video games.

    About Donnie Yen's Ip Man, that pistol stance is as difficult as Bruce's flag abdominal crunch. The 📽 industry is Hong Kong 🇭🇰 amaze & sensationalize their audience. When I 1st heard about Ip Man 1 I said "another " high raised cartoonist air fighting & Donnie was a cutted from those says ( see Wing Chun with Michelle Yeoh ) another Crunching Tiger Hidden Dragon 🐉 fairly tale where the protagonist characters jumps & guide with the Greatest of ease on water🤨!! Give me a break) that was like Peter Pan training the Chinese!! Donnie wasn't feeling good about freedom

    Funny topic! A real Wing Chun motion picture depiction would contain the elements described in the latter part of this video. The nature of conflict and how it arises. And whether a keen understanding of it brings an effectiveness to combat.
    Whether a martial art can really be a concept applied directly in the moment but has no need for definition beyond the unfortunate circumstance of self defense.
    Or how perhaps the art and mystery of these violent techniques lies in the absurdity of violence needing to erupt in the first place. In other words, why isn't the human more focused on being free of that which causes conflict?
