This guy picks up a horn and plays the crap out of the thing, humble man and a great seeming dude all around. I got the pleasure of speaking with this monster of a player, he gave me one of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received from a successful pro.
Thank You for that glowing review! I have one of these horns that just came in as a DEMO If you're interested here's the link: www.horntrader.com/carolbrass-instruments/1049-carolbrass-ctr-6280l-psm-bb-sl-demo.html
Beautiful horn, Steve. The appearance and quality is only exceeded by your playing. You really do an outstanding job; always a pleasure (and an inspiration) to hear you.
CarolBrass makes a horn that is 90% copper CarolBrass CTR-9990H-RSM-L Red Brass What a special horn, the sound is to die for. I fell in love the first note! In this .460” bore CUSTOM, red brass is used for the tubing from the leadpipe through the bell… All these parts are made of Red Brass: Leadpipe ML fast taper All inner & outer tuning slide tubes All tuning slide crooks The knuckles between the valve casings The bell section Here's The Link: www.horntrader.com/carolbrass-instruments/359-ctr-9990h-rsm.html
Man, that has to be tough as a horn player. When in college, they discovered that the trombone teacher had developed the same thing and he had to wear cotton gloves around the horns all the time. good luck with that.
Hey Steve, I'm currently on a 69'-72' Besson Brevette, I do a lot of lead work and it's been OK. I'm currently in the market for a BRAND NEW horn and have been looking at these Carol Brass situations. Within the next month I'm investing in one of these, it's gonna be either this CTR-6280L-PSM or the CTR-990H-RSM-L, which one (you've ACTUALLY played both), would you recommend for a cat that deals with everything from Big Band Lead to jazz combo in small clubs to gospel mega church to hip hop and EVERYTHING else in between?? Lol, no seriously, I love your playing, but you also used to construct horns so I REALLY value your opinion!! Thanks in advance sir
Thanks for the kind words Kym! Like I said in our email correspondences I think the CTR-4440L-PSM-L Bb Trumpet is a better fit for you and the wide range of music genres you play. Best, Steve
It looks bit like a plastic trumpet to me! But did it sound better than the Bach Commercial you tested? I suspect it did. That low Bb at 2:20 approx was just beautiful, as was all the rest of your playing! You wont have to thank me for the compliment (actually it is an observation), but if I buy one from you, can you give me a little discount?
They start at $110 before Tax and Shipping Tax is only if you live in the state of California. Shipping outside of the US is around $29 inside the US is around $10
Hi stevie! I sent message in your web site talking about to buy a carol brass mouthpiece 3 e or 3 d ,where i can find it? I lok for many site and nothing! Its possible to help me? I sent message to wely from carol brass and nothing !thanks

hai Horn Trader have you ever player Kanstul or kinglegend 20.20 flugels or what is Your opinnion on these horns im asking you becourse you have played everything there is on the marked
Hi Ted, I do like the Kanstul 1525 Flugel but it is so big and all copper. It dents easily and it's so big that it's hard to transport in a double or combo case. the King legend I've never played. Stay tuned to The HornTrader!
Q1: is this horn the basis for the CB 'dizzy' 5260L? Visually, the finish and details look the same, sans the bent bell. Just curious. Q2: when playing the 6280 side by side with the CB Balanced Model which do you prefer and why? Thanks, Steve!
Mark Russo c'mon, Mark ... N+1!!!! Besides, it is cruel of you to bind me like that the week of ITG in Columbus, OH! I'll be there Saturday ... how 'bout you?
I own carol brass model CTR-6282H-YSS Bflat trumpet, but i can't find it on the internet about the horn that i own. And that makes me feel doubt about it. can you explain to me why i can't find it on the carol brass web. Thank you
Nice trumpet but i bet the incredible sound had 80-90% more to do with the skill of the player than the Horn. You could make a $150 student horn sound really good lol.

Now that Selmer Paris ceased making trumpets :( this looks much like the Concept TT. Love the scratch finish.

It's so funny when you blow into the D shaped slide to get the spit out, the air sound is a D. Lol
What are your personal thought between one and two piece bells. This is a two piece bell yet projects nicely.
Old school thinkers would say one piece are better. I'm not so sure anymore.
I think if it sounds good don't worry about it. :)
Steve
Steve what is the starting prices of your mouthpieces? Ted
