  • Another viewer requested video! I haven't tested this so if you do, please comment and let me know how it works, what conditions you came up with and if it is actually usable when landing. Comment or send me an email at all.rc.air@gmail.com with questions or findings.

Can you calculate speed increase or decrease with this transmitter. Maybe create this alert when speed decreasing only and approching speed limit ? or use the accelerometer on the flight board ?

I knowthe GPS reads slower but ill besetring this up for stall speed indicator and call out. Very cool, thank you and ill report on its workings.

Give it a try... but just so you know, gps will read ground speed which is different from airspeed. If your stall speed is 20mph airspeed and you are in a 10mph headwind, your actual airspeed may be 25mph but gps will read 15mph. It may be beneficial in calm conditions but with a headwind or tailwind, your readings wont be accurate, especially for landings. Its worth a shot. Give it a go. No matter what, its a nice learning excerise and it may set you up to try an airspeed sensor later!

GPS senor works fine because on approach you are interested in the trend. ie is the model slowing down or speeding up and the gps is fine for that.

Sure if thats what you are looking for. Only issue is gps seems to be very delayed. I did a video called GPS vs Airspeed where I showed a gps and airspeed speedometer. Gps seemed to be delayed. Also, on ascends or descents, gps reads low.... give it a try. It may be enough.

I use FrSky R9MM or RXSR Only for my FPV Quadcopter's. I use a QX7 Access Transmitter but I like yours better. LOL 🤣🤣

I've helped someone that has a QX7. Good transmitter with a lot of power. Does everything you can think of. Ethos just makes it quicker and easier to do.

I might be a bit behind the times, as im still using my trusty X12S Horus transmitter with OpenTx. Im having trouble with telemetry signals. I have Air Speed, Batt Cell, and Verio. All three are set and work fine if used individually. But if i daisy chain together i can only read the first in the chain. All my Rx's are smart port equipt ACCST receiver's with firmware 2.2 nonEu.. any help would be appreciated.
I brought the Air Speed sensor for just this reason, approch speed. FrSky advise is to upgrade all my gear to the X20S. Not helpful at all. All my gear works, just not as it is advertised as, Am i doing something wrong

Hello, i am not very familiar with the Horus X12s but it's a very good transmitter. I have used OpenTX. I wonder if one of your devices is conflicting with another. Try booking up one at a time and see which one causes it to break. I can't remember what is called exactly but in each of the telemetry items, there are two types of id's. You can double check and confirm that the id's are not conflicting and if they are you should be able to change them. Also, you did not mention if your telemetry sensors are updated. Make sure to update the firmware on your sensors as well as the receivers and tx. I would try that first. Your setup should be fine to run multiple sensors. By the way, if i had an X12s, i wouldn't swap it over to an X20, i would upgrade the firmware to Ethos. I love the way the X12s feels in your hands.

@@all_rc updating sensors, that's an idea. I didn't think to try that. Just assumed they where sent out with latest firmware on them. I'll have to check the sight to see when they were last updated. I'm guessing I can download to my SD card and flash though the JR bay similar to receiver's.
And yes, X12S is a nice feel in my hands. Good weight without being too heavy, or to light and toy feeling like the Radiomaster tx16, does. To me any how. X12S Horus side sliders are a little arrrrrr at times, but switch placement, and extra sliders, third joy stick are great for tools, and switch's, without removing or using up the flight switchers. Thanks for you in put. And happy new year from New Zealand. Updating X12S! I might buy the needed board to bring it up to ACCeSS, as it'll give me a wider range of Rx's, since FrSky have stopped production of some ACCST receivers. I do like the OpenTx, may swap to EdgeTx as they've more support. Not to bang on ethos, it's just still needs a bit of work from what I'm seeing. Never know what tomorrows thoughts will be though. LoL 🤣👍. Thanks again

I went from OpenTX to Edge TX on my TX16S. Edge is much improved. A lot of the initial improvements was to make the GUI much better for touch screen but there are tons of improvements all the way through. You obviously don't care about the touch screen features. When i first got Ethos, i felt the same. Edge was much more powerful. After i got used to Ethos, i would never go back to EdgeTX. Programming is so much quicker and easier. There are some things Edge still does better.. Flight modes are better on Edge... more options for how trims are handled. Global variables are available on Edge but not on Ethos. But I found other ways to program without it. Their programming methods are different but one you understand it, it works very well. I haven't found anything that i cannot do once i understood the os. Also next major upgrade adds a ton of features and upgrades (including gv, i believe). It's getting better and better. It has the power of edgetx with a very quick programming method.

@@all_rc thank you. I'll keep an eye out. There is away of mounting the touch screen from a TX16 into the X12S Horus. A bit of care and soldering. Can be done. Not sure if I'll go that way. Maybe. Thanks for your time

@@all_rc I finally got around to updating the firmware for the sensors, could only update air speed and volt meter, nothing for the verio I have "which isn't needed when using a GR8 Rx. I now have all working when Daisy chained together. Thanks for your suggestions. I did have to do it a couple of times, as I went straight for the most modern firmware, which is for ethos, 🤣 lesson learned. So for my glider now, I have volts for the power motor, rise and sink verio, and air speed, max speed in a dive, stall warnings on approach to land/slow flight in a thermal. Thumbs up mate.
