The hair on my head began shedding big time following an extremely stressfull period in my life. So, I myself researched the internet & chose to try a hair oil called litttleextra coocoonion and a comb made of neem wood. The results really worked. Now, my hair is lengthy, thick, black hair that has grown down to my waist and trimmed three times since I started. Easy & good. Also, just as good can be massaging your scalp - it encourages the growth. You only must do this weekly. Pretty soon, you'll see new hair growing in.

I’ve noticed positive changes in the shine and hair fall control of my hair with the help of the liittlllextra cooconnion oil. We have hard water here and it’s important to nourish hair and scalp with the right ingredients. This oil does just that. I’m eager to try their newly launched reeactivate hair serum.

I was diagnosed with CCCA a couple years ago by my dermatologist and he put me on doxycycline for a few months and also gave me a liquid steroid solution to squirt on my scalp daily…and it did wonders, I went from having a patch to hair again…if you haven’t already done so I suggest getting in touch with a dermatologist asap.

@@memebzk5001 In my specific case, my hair loss became so bad that it was affecting every aspect of my life. I finally asked myself why I was holding onto something that was costing me so much time and money, and was causing me SOOOO much emotional stress and physical pain? I asked myself how I would feel if I didn’t have to figure out every damn day what to do with my hair. I can empathise. My hair gradually fell out over some years and initially people made it seem that I was over reacting until the hair loss become more noticeable. It became more rapid and after shaving it off and seeing dermatologists and a trichologist, it turned out to be a progressive scalp intolerance to oils which literally killed my follicles.
I'm not attached to my hair but hair loss can really damage your confidence for a while. I can happily cut my hair out of choice but being forced to choose styles based on the loss of hair is what I found difficult. Wish you the best

    • @VeeEnyi
      @VeeEnyi Рік тому +17

So it started off as a flaky dry scalp even if I had washed and used LOC method on the same day. Then over the years, it gradually became worse and my scalp would be red, inflamed/sore and occasionally had small blisters and subsequent loss of hair. There's a few really thin areas where the trichologist said there were significantly less follicles so they wouldn't grow back
So far the worst oils for me are almond oil, coconut, jasmine, grapeseed and jojoba oils. Castor oil and olive oil give a much slower reaction. The hair grew back in some places that were thin but other parts are still sparse/patchy due to a loss of follicles. Mainly the middle and edges because that's where I was encouraged to do oil treatments and scalp massages and to be persistent in order to see the results. Unfortunately it had the opposite effect for me... But it works well for many other people.
I did see an improvement in thickness during pregnancy but post partum shedding put an end to that 😂

Hi Danielle! I just wanted to share my experience in case it helps you or any of your subscribers. Caring for my natural hair was really hard for me because my fingers just don't understand how to flat twist or cornrow or anything of the sorts. I experimented with box braids for a while but $300 every two months was not sustainable. I cut my hair short my senior year of high school, but my mom wanted to live vicariously through me since I have 4C hair and she gets perms to keep her hair manageable so cutting it again was out of the question. My solution was to loc my hair and it'll be 1 year in about a month and I love them! It's about $90 every 10 weeks but I started maintaining them myself and the tool I use is probably $15.
It may not work for you, but it's an option in case you want to consider it. We're here for you!

I feel you StarPuppy. I have also recently experienced a setback with my hair, and it's also taken an emotional toll on me. We are identical in our experience of having thick, healthy heads of hair before the downfall. In my case, it was a stylist who gave me heat damage. Unfortunately, I am no stranger to this kind of hair trauma and the worst part is, the state of my hair before heading to that menace of a stylist was my hair recovered from another similar hair trauma. Ultimately, my road to recovery will be another six months of max hydration and protective styles, extra TLC to recover my lost volume (since I'm not focused too much on length right now) and never getting another silk press for a VERY long time. Shoot, maybe never, ever again! I only trust one woman in my hair right now, my braiding lady, who gives a mean deep condition, and blowout, and who I also trust to trim my hair in its blown-out state. I don't trust any stylists and aside from my braiding lady, the only person who will be nursing my hair back to its full glory is me, myself, and I. I did it once and I WILL DO IT AGAIN! I read the comments and there are people who suggest you get dreadlocks or weave. As a licensed cosmetologist I will advise against this. Your hair looks amazing and you do not need to hide it.
If you do hide it under hair extensions you run the risk of loving the hair extensions over your hair. 😢
FYI: water damage is worse than heat damage. ( This might help you going forward)
Your hair looks so amazing 💖 you probably don't need the advice that I am giving you.
For braidouts to work well, the hair needs to be stretched out first. I have a sneezing suspicion that might be why you have had a hard time with them.

i would hold off on the passion twists indefinitely tbh. the synthetic hair can be drying, cause scalp issuses, and the weight of it damages some peoples hair more than others.
my hair got the longest its ever been, almost mid back when i stretch it to full length by pulling a section, by keeping it moisturized, not using heat, and low manipulation. i wore various styles of two strand twists with my own hair (not twist outs, but twists that i redid every 4-6 weeks or so) two strand twists with your natural hair can be very pretty, this is more of a "shrunken look" my mid back hair shrinks up to jaw-ear length. its looks like several thousands of spring tight ringlets. that resonated with me. it is gorgeous. and i hope tou are able to rock your natural texture with pride again soon.
also this is just an example of one thing that happened with my hair. your story is different and your own and out hair is different in many ways, like porosity and coarseness. a doctor, if your are able and haven't already, may be able to help. i focused on nutrients as well. deficiencies can definitely mess you up, i say that from experience. people with dark skin get vit d. deficiency pretty easily. i did.

Maybe it's time to consider getting locs instead! The loose natural hair life is hard and high maintenance whereas locs are so low maintenance, it's almost impossible for your hair not to grow. Especially if you get a lower number of microlocs, like 200-350, even the maintenance is wayyy more lowkey than natural hair (after the initial bay loc phase, but you can always just see a locitican and learn to retie later). Just look up a couple microlocs videos girl, you won't have to be all wrapped up in how your hair is doing all the time, you just get to vibe out and wait for the length. It's life changing, like wash days are 20 minutes, and I wash my hair for fun/relaxation now!

I feel like I wrote this myself. I switched to locs as well after 10 years being loose natural. It was high maintenance and required products and more time and stress then I could handle. I had a hard time retaining length and I have 3 stress spots that would always break off. Although the 1st two years of locs is a bit awkward. I’d never ever go back to loose natural. Locs allow my hair to naturally do what it wants to do. (Clump and tangle which helps strengthen my hair strands) my hair is longer, fuller and healthier then it’s ever been in my whole life. I don’t even have problems with my stress spots as much any more because I have access to keep those areas more moisturized using water. (oils are a no go for me)

As many have said see a dermatologist they will do a scalp biopsy to tell you what could be the reason. I would also suggest getting checked for autoimmune diseases and iron levels checked if you haven't. I wish my hair only came out in the middle. My dermatologist said synthetic hair is not good for black peoples hair because it has chemicals in it and that it can cause inflammation and alopecia over time. It also causes tension which pulls hair out. A lot of this advice is good but sometimes we don't know if people have health insurance or can afford to pay out of topic.

You should try doing some small plats with your own hair, and leave it for a while. That way you still have access to your hair and you can wash it and condition it and deep condition it with the plats . Trust me it will grow. Just put on a scarf or a wig when you go out if you want. I've been doing this, and my hair is growing so well.

Have you looked into your diet? Thinning crown has so many indicators. For example, I have fibromyalgia and it may be autoimmune disease. Also getting enough fruits and vegetables can affect that area as well. I do raw til 4 and I noticed it has an effect in that area.

I know what you are going through. You can save your crown. Even though I have baldness I have learned to moisturize my hair with water as often as my hair needs to be moisturized. I learned that when I touch my hair, if it feels dry or if I can hear the dryness in my ear, I spray water on it and seal with grease or an oil then twist. Sometimes it's every day, sometimes in the morning and then again before bed. Satin bonnets dry out my hair so I use bamboo tubes. The frustration of finding a routine that works for you and allows you to have an ah hah moment is near. Your hair WILL thrive. Keep going!

Honestly, idc what anyone says, box braids and passion twists are not protective styles. Any style that you add hair to is not protective because it pulls out so much of your own hair during take down. I wanted to get braids so badly this summer but i decided to just have mini twists and twist outs to avoid excessive breakage. Try doing twists with your own hair for a while and don't leave them in too long because your hair will start locing.

I used a hormone replacement patch and it destroyed my hair. By the time I realized that was the issue, it was too late. To make matters worse, I decided to get a silk press from a hairdresser who did not know anything about natural hair. I felt like she fried my hair the first time. It was cute, a little itchy because of the sprits and sprays. The second visit destroyed it. It itched like crazy, and my scalp was red and inflamed. I washed my hair after three days and it started falling out. It continued to fall out for six months.
I finally started trimming it in October 2021, I had cut all the damage off and realized that my hair was insanely thinner than it used to be. I now have thinning hair scalp like male pattern baldness and the comeover game is suffering now. I cut it again last month realizing that the crown was shorter than the rest of my hair and I am concerned that it will continue to grow shorter than the rest of my hair. I no longer want to wear my hair down because it doesn't look the same.
I was diagnosed with CCCA. I was given a steroid oil, which I was scared to use, however, I did purchase a laser therapy cap and will see what happens. I love your honesty and candid conversation.

If you use a lot of conditioner on a daily basis your conditioner is weakening your hair. A lot of hair conditioners on the market try to transition your hair from coiled to straight because they are not made for African American hair. If this is happening, after some time of using the conditioner you will notice a difference in your hair texture. You should stop using off the market conditioner. You can use eggs instead as a natural conditioner, let it sit for like 15-30 minutes and wash out. You will should notice a difference. You may also be anemic or iron deficient. Go to your physician and ask for a full panel for blood work to see what your body is deficient in so that you can get the right vitamins and minerals that you need.

Look, if after all these years you can’t accept your hair un-stretched than maybe a break is for the best. You put a lot into your hair, but that isn’t always a good thing. You have finer fragile hair and I think people really underestimate mechanical manipulation.
Don’t let the quest for absolute self love perfection get in the way of a good mood or esteem. If you like your hair in passion twist or other styles that cover your hair, go with that. Maybe if you accept that as your normal it will be easier to care for your hair and *scalp* beneath that, then you can wear your hair stretched for special occasions when the weather is right and you won’t feel so frustrated.
In an ideal world you’d love you hair without manipulation, but we don’t live in an ideal world and we’re all just trying to do our best.

I’ve always had hair thinning in my crown area. I’m white I have dual texture hair whatever whatever been a follower for a quite a while mostly because of your soothing voice. But what I relate to is that strange pinpoint of emotion, because later on in an abusive encounter with an ex he ripped a large chunk out of that same problem area and I sort of gave up on thinking about it and focused on parting my hair differently to hide the bald spot. I stopped stressing about it because I had no choice. My progress was shot and I was devastated combined with a slight concussion
My hair is shoulder length and I believe it’s grown out very well since then actually…better than before when I would stress and loose so much hair in the shower.
It’s a strange world and I recommend letting out the tears to relive some pent up stress if necessary…sometimes that can be a catalyst. But also a dermatologist! I used to have a full body infection from a rusty razor that got fixed only after multiple failed doctor visits and onto the specialist that took a physical sample.

I believe i shed the same ammount when I've had a protective style in for 3 months. Its inevitable when all of your shed hair is trapped. Your hair looks healthy and full, even with the patch. Several years ago i deveolved a large BALD spot in the center of my scalp after getting an extremely tight sow in and digging into my scalp with paperclips to alleviate some of the stinging itching. I had to see a dermatologist discovering several bald spots on my scalp( the worst was in the middle about 4 inches in diameter. Then after giving birth to my son last year i neglected my hair by barely washing it and sticking to 2 puffs with a part straight down the middle. My hair was long, healthy, and thick. So i definitely took my hair health for granted and stuck with the same style too long. Eventually the middle broke away and is finally gaining length at a few inches now. But the worst part is that i would wash every 2 to 3 months and so much knots and tangles would lead to breakage. I was too impatient and tired to deal with detangling my hair properly. In the end i had patches, short spots, and fried looking ends by the time i woke up and started taking care of my hair again. Don't allow your hair loss to discourage you from making content. Your journey mirrors so many of us black women. We have highs and lows with our hair and it helps to know how we can recover from these rough patches😉. Pun inteded... let's laugh at our hair struggle a little❤😘

Maybe try two strand twists every 3-4 weeks becuz if you have alopecia the synthetic hair will just agitate that condition even more, especially if you have long braids. I like to leave my hair alone for months at a time. For example just twisting my own hair for a month then wash it then twist again for 3 weeks. Then I do braids once a year for 6-7weeks max no longer than shoulder length. Maybe crochet 2-4 times a year for two weeks at a time.
