As an AKA member, I've thought about whether having a kiting "academy" built into the website for members would be of use. In the academy, members could achieve competencies and printable certificates of completion in any number of various skill sets ranging from construction to flying to anchoring and more. Personally, I'd even favor completion pins for hat or vest. My thought is that beyond the social aspect of the organization, competency building not only enhances the value of membership, but it also enhances the credibility of an AKA flyer. This has value when one is involved in organizing a kiting event or judging one. If such an idea were to gain traction, I'd think a convention workshop given over to the development of an academy would be worth it.

This is an interesting idea. I’d suggest contacting the AKA and pitching it through the proper channels. They’re always open to ideas.
