You need to select a memory bank first to which to store the sample and turn the knob to "write" for recording the sample. Then for playback or stuttering the recorded sample, switch the knob to "single" or "repeat" for looping.

You're right. The company was bought by MTX Soundcraftmen and rebranded the Numark mixers to MTX. The DM1775 was re-modelled to MX400 while the DM1975 was to MX500.

Soundcraftsmen was bought out by MTX in 1991 Then continued products under the MTX Soundcraftsmen moniker until the mid 90's
