Z1 Rear Sway Bar Installation and First Impressions

- The Z1 Motorsports rear sway bar is a relatively easy installation and makes a HUGE difference in the 350z. I'm excited to get this car out to the winding mountain roads and really test it out.
Installation is relatively easy, but please do yourself a favor and purchase some fresh end links. The chances that you round off the factory end link nuts is pretty high!

It makes a huge difference no doubt, everyone will agree.
My problem is I learned the hard way the importance of "zero" preload on the front swaybar. Completely snapped one of the 35mm brackets holding the swaybar. So adjustable end links were ordered. So they are necessary 🤔 and not just because of corrosion or wear. Good video!
No hooning test? It'll come I'm sure. 😄 The first couple of sideways takeoffs I remember from the week I put in Eibachs on my old 06 coupe were legendary. You don't quite expect it, and counter-steering in this car was made so easy by old time Nissan engineers. Good job Z1 for making an affordable set, and good job to you for dedicating a vid to the rear sway.
I need to get out there and rip but still only have about 350 miles on the new clutch so trying to hold back some lol
Yes sir awesome upgrade.. Just done mines front and back
Definitely worth it!
I deployed and I come back to your vides and you got a 350z holy shit bro
Glad you’re back! Picked up the z New Year’s Eve. Fun little project!
Man I just did my front sways after doing the rear last weekend. What a difference. Now I want to do all the links, arms and rods all the way around.
Such a good upgrade!
P2m adjustable sway bar end links are the best bang for your buck
do you need a alignment after installation ?
Man, Ok I wanna do this too if I'm gona be drifting the thing right .. damn so much to learn and great thanks to your channel. Im honestly suprised you don't have more subs seriously. Imma tell me friends to sub haha
Please do lol. Only been at it for a few years so growing steadily! I appreciate you watching!
Rear sway bars are crazy mostly because the car is lighter on rear. It’s a chunky boy in the front.
I put a whiteline front bar on my 370z which seems to be what most people recommend. Handling is pretty good at the moment, I keep thinking about getting a rear bar too but not sure if it will be worth it.
I always used to put big rear sway bars on my slow fwd cars to make them a bit more prone to oversteer but don't really need that in the Z
Hmm don't think it could hurt but I'm in a G37s so my ride REALLY needs a full setup I definitely noticed how much more focused a tower strut bar made it (but i believe z owners get one at stock G owners don't have too much at all)
@@FOXXHOUND86 Budd, everything that z owners can get so can we (13 G37s) Bars, breaks, braided lines, bushings, intakes, etc.
@@Dragandspinn yea its pretty much the same vehicle ours is just in a suit & tie and has extra motors for the power options (seats, steering wheel, etc) and the back seats. All these makes our vehicle more heavier/slower than a 370. But the g37 coupe is just prettier and I like pretty things haha
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Z1 vs Hotchkis impressions having both in hand? I know you haven't A/Bd them on the same car but curious to hear your thoughts as it seems the specs on these are aiming to replicate what the hotchkis bars achieve. I think its nice Z1 includes the billet brackets.
I will have to try and make a comparison that makes sense. Although it was a pretty dramatic difference in the Z, the hotchkis sway bars being added to the Q was a MASSIVE difference. But that is such a big heavy car, so one would expect the difference to be more significant.
@@SpeedCultureStudios okay cool man thanks for the reply. looking forward to hearing your thoughts on one vs the other. I think you are in valuable position to have tried both of them and had them both in hand. I assume most people looking at the Z1 bars are considering them vs Hotchkis.
Hotchkis sway bars are a bit cheaper and offer one notch more of adjustment than the z1
Also I put some adjustable p2m end links in the rear, after I already been having the hotchkis sway bars and to me it felt more rigid into the corner than the stock end links
@@SlickRick214 Don’t get wrapped up with number of adjustments. The 2nd hole of the Z1 sway bar is 240% stiffer than stock while the hotchkis is only 180% stiffer at its 3rd (stiffest) setting. I’m a huge fan of hotchkis and have them on my Q50, but the Z1 is much stiffer than the hotchkis for the z
So it would be wise to upgrade the front/read end links when upgrading the sway bar?
It is a good idea yes, especially if you push the car hard in the corners.
Do you guys think it’s worth it to put on a 370z nismo?? I was racing an m3 yesterday and it wasn’t hanging with it on the curvy roads
10x better handling on corners. My q60 used to feel very floaty when cornering hard, after I installed both front and rear sway bars, the car could do more speed with little floatiness, but that was because of the hard cornering, the car handles 10x better now and it’s totally worth it. Just remember zero preload when installing them.
Michelin pilot sport 4s + sway bars gives excellent handling.
Do you think it’s worth it to upgrade the rear sway bar in my G37X Sedan for now or do both front and rear at the same time?
Start with the rear. The awd front sway bar is already pretty solid.
Both! The Z1 are quite a bit beefier than the stock 37s. Maybe your x is different.
@@Dragandspinn AWD always have a slightly beefier front sway as do the Zs, so the rear would definitely have the biggest impact for the dollar spent. I’d definitely go both, but if someone is looking to go at it with a budget in mind, rear alone would be a great upgrade for the AWD.
@@SpeedCultureStudios got it!
Did the front and back on mine from Hotchkis all at once about 2 months ago. Make sure you torque the hell out of them at the end links. I had to retorque my front driver's side because it got loose and started popping. 2010 G37X sedan. Did the front/back shocks/struts (KYB) last week. OEM ones had 147k miles. Very happy now.
Is it common for it to make alot of noise ? I installed the front and end links . I hear clunking its so annoying
Make sure everything is tight. And did you properly adjust preload on the end links?
I had Hotchkis sways put on my Z, front and rear, a number of years ago and was really satisfied with the results. I just had the diff bushings replaced with polyurethane ones and like the result. I have a Z1 aluminum strut tower brace that's coming in a couple of days and I'm looking forward to putting it in, it's about half the weight of the stock brace and about 10% more stiff. I'm thinking of getting the Z1 front subframe brace soon.
Nice little upgrades that have quite an impact!
I have the front , should i do front or back first?
The rear has the most impact but it won’t hurt anything to do front first.
Thanks man
