I'm actually crying this song is so beautiful and Taeyeon is such an incredible artist. I think this song tackles the lifestyles of idols. Put beneath the spotlight, forced to smile and become more beautiful each and every time; it almost feels like a circus. A circus of relentless scrutiny and ridicule made to make others laugh and have a good time. Yet they continue to persevere because that spotlight is something they want to return to, no matter how much they lose themselves, and no matter how dangerous it becomes.

She didn't say it anywhere. Fans found out because it's written in the physical album. She's credited as the vocal director for this track.

But just by the name, it means it's to direct the vocal arrangement, be it for recording studio or for live performance.
There are the main vocal(s) and the background vocal(s) (Taeyeon usually does both lol) and vocal direction is done to make it all blend, to be proportionate, to be harmonized perfectly. Please note that this is different from music arrangement like composer.
So in the recording studio, Taeyeon had this role. She directed how the vocal arrangement should go, in which she did a great job considering how it came out really great.
If anyone can explain this better, it's much appreciated.
Hmm, as if she sings live, like ever... all lipsync, even when she doesnt dance, she doesnt even bother with voiceover, and also is quite bad lip-syncer. I am not saing its her fault, most probably its SM entertainment bullshit.
Still i love her voice, dont take me wrong... its just kpop sucks... She should move somewhere else, and become artist.

Kristyna Jandousova What are you talking about? There are COUNTLESS clips of Taeyeon singing live. 😂 She does lip sync sometimes and that’s perfectly fine. She’s a human not a machine. But she sings live so often already so I don’t know what you mean. The fact that you claim you haven’t heard her sing completely live before just shows that you haven’t even looked honestly.

This is amazing, i am a music enthusiast for almost all of my life, startet when i was like 6 years. I learned lyrics, i probably know 10.000's of songs, i even studied audio engineering, for most of you in ancient times, but what this little lady does is phenomenal. For me she is the voice of Korea. In my world of music she stands right next to Sarah McLachlen, Jennifer Warnes and Karen Carpender. It is again a wonderful song and also a wonderful video and even if my opinion doesn't mean much in this big world of music i think we should all slow down sometimes and listen closely to this.... take a bow...

Yes, true. Her voice is more than amazing.. I've fallen in love with her voice since 2012 when I came to listen to her ost "Missing You Like Crazy." Ever since then I keep listening to her songs non stop everyday of my life. I don't have knowledge in her language. But her voice alone made me understand her music the meaning of her songs

I don't think anyone has pointed this out, but I think one of the reasons why Taeyeon's voice is so addicting is because she uses vocal fry to decorate her low notes. It contrasts well with her smooth vocals, kind of like chocolate chip in ice cream. It's that rough and soft balance that leaves people wanting for more.
Makes sense that adding vocal fry really is like the cherry on top, but I don't think vocal fry is something only Taeyeon does >.> no hate

as someone said on twitter, if taeyeon wanted to, she could probably dominate the industry, she just needs to have the ambition for it... sigh at least she is touring :') i can only dream of her releasing 1-3 albums a year or being more promoted and active than she already is.
