The thumbnail tho… ( btw, didn’t Jones choose to not love anyone ever again because since he’s immortal he outlived all of his loved ones or something? I don’t really read the comics, sorry if I’m wrong)
3:11 Daruma dolls are often used to make wishes, such as for good health, family safety, or patience. To use a daruma, you fill in the left eye while making a wish, and then fill in the right eye when your wish comes true. A daruma with both eyes filled in is a symbol of achievement and gratitude. Daruma dolls symbolize the Japanese idea of ganbaru, or the ability to persevere. They are also based on the legend of Bodhidharma, who meditated in a cave for nine years and lost his arms and legs, which is why daruma dolls are round.
6:04 Those Statues are called Komainu, Komainu, often called lion-dogs in English, are statue pairs of lion-like creatures, which traditionally guard the entrance or gate of the shrine, or placed in front of or within the honden of Japanese Shinto shrines. The myth of komainu originated in India, where they first appeared in Buddhist traditions about 2,300 years ago. They spread to China, Korea, and eventually Japan. Komainu are often depicted in pairs, with one having an open mouth and the other closed. The open mouth is called a-gyō and the closed mouth is called un-gyō. The open and closed mouths of the komainu pair represent the Japanese transliteration of the sacred Sanskrit syllable "om", which is "a-un". This symbolism is similar to that of the Niō, the two Buddhist gatekeeper deities. The word “komainu” comes from “Koma,” the Japanese word for the ancient Korean kingdom Koguryi, and “inu,” which is Japanese for “dog”. Komainu are also known as kōrai-inu, or Korean dogs, because they were probably imported from Tang China via the Korean Peninsula.
Im hoping Epic includes bite-size teasers for the Monsterverse and Godzilla's next movie. Afterall, they teased Shimo for Godzilla x Kong during the COD Warzone event, of all things
Oh really? That’s so cool Though unfortunately the next Monsterverse Godzilla project is gonna be coming out in like 2026 so I don’t think we’ll be getting any teasers anytime soon ☹️
The stone frog family was one of my favorite things from chapter 5. The parents got married at the heart rock, had kids, taught the kids how to jump/dive, let them watch tv and then had a family dinner together with chopsticks. I'm glad they are back on the chapter 6 island but I wonder how they got there.
19:18 That's a Rabbit version of a Maneki-Neko. Maneki Neko (招き猫, literally "beckoning cat"), also known as "welcoming cat", "lucky cat", "money cat" or "fortune cat", is a common Japanese figurine. It is a lucky charm. Maneki-neko are usually made of ceramic or plastic and traditionally depict a calico Japanese Bobtail. However, they can also be found in other colors, such as white, red, black, pink, blue, and gold. Some statues have a gold coin called a koban around the cat's neck. Maneki-neko are often found behind cash registers in restaurants and retail outlets, or placed in homes, offices, or stores. There are many different types of maneki-neko, including ones with different expressions, such as a cat getting along with a mouse or a cat relaxing in Sanju-no-to. Some believe that different colors of maneki-neko bring different types of luck. For example, a blue statue is said to bring traffic safety, pink is for love, and golden is for prosperity. 招き Maneki means Invitation or Beckoning, 猫 Neko means Cat and うさぎ Usagi means Rabbit
20:30 Those Buns are 平田 Hirata which are traditional Japanese steamed buns that are also known as bao buns, they can be served sweet or savory, can be filled with a variety of ingredients with slow-cooked meat, crunchy salad, pickles, and sticky sauce, can be served as an appetizer or side dish, they and are a popular choice in Japanese ramen stores and can be reheated by steaming or microwaving to keep them soft and delicious. Another Bun like Dish is 肉まん Nikuman. Nikuman (Japanese Pork Buns), also known as Baozi, are Chinese sweet buns filled with a succulent meat and onion filling. Nikuman, also known as Bāozi in China and Pork Buns in the West, are the Asian equivalent to sandwiches. Nikuman are made from flour dough and filled with pork, beef, and other ingredients (e.g. red bean paste, curried beef, cheese, and tomato sauce, just to name a few) and often steamed at street vendors, making them easy snacks and excellent street food. There's also another Bun dish called アンパン Anpan, Anpan (あんパン, 餡あんパン) is a Japanese sweet roll most commonly filled with red bean paste. Anpan can also be prepared with other fillings, including white beans (白ーあん shiro-an), green beans (鶯ーあん uguisu-an), sesame (ごまーあん goma-an), and chestnuts (クリー案 kuri-an).
