That's not a Sitar. That's a Zitar, which is like a combination of a guitar and sitar, an instrument created by legendary sitar player Pandit Niladri Kumar. It looks kind of like a sitar, but produces sounds that are more typical of electric guitars.

@@aranyadutta1784 I did that way back in 1973. I used a Barcus Berry pick up and wah wah and other effects as an experiment to get Sitar up to same volume level as western instruments. Just a one-off experiment. Classical accoustic is best for Sitar.

Imagine at 1:49 where the line starts... "Ishq junoon jab hadd se badh jaaye".. Instead of drums u guys had a piece of tabla there...and from teri deewani line drums came back with a roll... It would have been top notch... I just missed the element of tabla and some backing vocals...
Btw the fusion on sitar was genius...
