I'm so sorry that happened to her! These scammers use fear and try to confuse people. So horrible! I'm glad they didn't get very much money, but it is still such a violation.

Wow! Ann must have been really frightened. I'm happy that the damage was minimal. Lots of people go through this. I'm sure she'll be more skeptical in the future. Anymore, I don't even follow e-mail links from people I do business with in case the emails are fake. I'll go directly to the Web site or call and access the information that way.

    Couple questions here:
Her phone can do video chat on Line, but not take a photo of the screen?
If your phone was home, would she have still done with without talking to you? If yes, you need to have a serious talk! Even as 'business partners' any Large purchase needs consulting other partners.
If you were home, would you have fallen for it?

That’s my best guess about her phone. I have never seen her once take a screenshot. yet I take them all the time.
She realized it was a scam by the time I got home but excellent question I don’t know the answer. I would guess yes but it’s not certain she would have. She was terrified they were going to take her away before I got home. It’s maybe why I also waited to the very last minute to do the transfer.
I do know for a fact she won’t fall for this scam again and feel we have built a more solid relationship on trust after this luckily. I greatly trust her with money more now. Baby steps.
I have a BS in Psychology and also have a lot of world experience. Another crazy story is A woman attempted to blackmail me 2 years ago with inappropriate photos with a lot of personal information. First person she threatened to send the photos to was my mother unless I sent her money. I laughed and my response was to release them . which I saved the full conversation so could make an interesting youtube video. Another person threatened to shoot me which I also encouraged them to do so. So my track record says I respond a certain way with threats even if not the smartest choice. So to answer your last question Milgrim experiments proved all humans will say “no” they won’t obey authority figures crazy request. yet the studies show majority of humans will obey an authority figures commands as long as they believe it is an authority figure. So if I answer “no” but should you even believe me? 😉 Okay I must sleep. Best regards.

Not random at all. They knew she was married to a foreigner. And that you had a bank account apart from her. I think it was someone in the dealership. They would have seen you together there and have access to personal information. I think they assumed the money would be in there the day before the purchase. I’m so happy it was in your account still!

That’s unbelievable but something similar happened to my parents. Someone called my Mom and Dad saying they were my son and he was in Guatemala and in jail. He was dating a girl from Guatemala so they thought maybe he went there with her. They wanted $5000 so he could get out of jail. Luckily I called them while they were on their way to send it by wire transfer. And whoever it was tried it a second time. I told them never give money to anyone unless you talk to me first. There are lousy people everywhere.
Im glad it all worked out. Love you guys ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊

Nah, she was crying the whole time and she doesn’t cry. I didn’t care about $60 usd either. She just doesn’t have experience is all. She grew up living in a two wall roof house which western standards is camping. I would assume small villages are taught to obey police so sus if she would instantly know about scams. Only responded to help paint the reality. Love my wife and trust her with everything now. Just needed that experience.
