    Sometimes we also face suffering due to other's sins. So I think they could be 3 sources of suffering.
    1. Consequences of our sins
    2. Consequences of others sins
    3. Opportunity for God's glory.
    JP is right in saying that we do not need to know the source. And our godly response in each situation is more or less the same.

      Some would say it is a consequence of sin or sins. And if that is the case, everyone should suffer and be punished everyday. Because everyday people sin in their eyes, thoughts and mouth. Not all sins are intentional. And not all intentional sins are to be punished. We are not our sins. But rather sins are forgiven by God thru repentance. Stay blessed.

    I believe God is such an intricate designer, the way He ties in our present struggles to fit in with future situations and people... sometimes when you look back you can see how things all fit together, and you were completely unaware at the time. You realize the struggles were needed for learning things, growing closer to Him, influencing others, etc.
    God's hand is at work in all things!

    God does not BRING suffering, He somethings ALLOWS suffering to teach and correct us . James 1:13 When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

      Did he not make the rules that govern the universe? He specifically made a universe where two year old children can get cancer and die. So yes, he pretty much actively kills off those children. Cool way to "teach and correct". I wouldn't do that which makes me vastly more moral person than your god

      ​@@jamesdevries1218 Of course he's directly causing it. If I were god, I would have fabricated a universe where cancer didn't exist, much less one where two year olds can get it and die. Your god chose to make one where it does exist. So in his eternal wisdom before creating the universe, he kinda thought to himself "Ah, but those humans need weird and terrible sicknesses. Really crazy stuff that their children can die of at before being able to speak, under excruciating pain. Yes, great idea, let's put that in"
      The notion that "sin" has anything to do with it is just sloppy thinking. There is no action any human took to cause this two year old getting cancer.
      I mean, you do realize that this is a very old and very famous philosophical problem, right? The fact that evil exists in this world (and I'm talking about the stuff like cancer, that is clearly NOT man-made) is a direct contradiction of the notion that there is some kind of all-powerful, all-good god.
      There are only three solutions to this problem: Either he can't prevent this stuff or he's not willing to. Or he simply doesn't exist. Your choice which one of these you accept, I know which one it is for me...

    It can be but not as often as you think. All of my life is I have seen the wicked prosper, they make others and/or themselves suffer, they go unpunished, and there is no justice etc.
    I used to go to a church that liked to sing God is a shield and defender. Never in my life.
    Life is like that for some people.
    Don't make the same mistake that Job's friends did.

    In Romans 6:17, we read:
    "But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
    "
    "from the heart": what does that mean?
    Well, first, an example.
    Let's say you're about to jump out of an airplane, but you have a parachute packed by your mother. Would you jump with that parachute?
    The example may get a bit muddy if you know your mother is terrible at packing things, but I hope you get the point. :P
    "From the heart:"
    -Not from intellectual assent: that we see all the reasons and all the ways that it could go and work and after risk-assessment we decide it's worth investing in
    -Not from emotion: that we simply 'feel' or 'do not' feel it
    -From a place of trust: beyond emotion or knowledge. If we trust Him, we'll seek to obey Him regardless of our understanding. And that includes rejoicing in trials, as well as seeking to glorify Him in not only how we walk, but how we seek to better our walk with Him.
    I've a long way to go, but Jesus is faithful.

    The way of Jesus is to emulate Him. So as He took all sin onto Himself, so we must approach every bad situation as if we had caused it, as if we were responsible and thus required to take it on. So if there is Evil/Suffering in our lives, we need to turn towards it with an open heart, and examine how we caused that suffering, and then alleviate it. It is in the turning toward that suffering that He reveals Himself.

    Dear brothers and sisters i greet you in our Lord Jesus Christ
    Five years ago, I began to engage in faith. I started here in Croatia in the catholic church to visit mass and to read The Holy Scriptures. Very early on, I noticed that what is taught and practiced in the catholic church contradicts the Holy Scriptures and what Jesus taught us. In addition, some things in the Holy Bible were unclear to me and raised additional questions and doubts, such as:
    - If our God is the God of love and justice, why are we punished for the sins of Adam? Doesn't that contradict the principles of love and justice? An earthly father who is full of faults and weaknesses would not do such a thing, then how can we think such a thing about our Perfect Father?
    - How can a loving father throw his child forever in the hell? That also contradicts these principles. And besides, in 1 Timothy 2; 3 + 4: "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."
    So, if this were really so, that in spite of His will, people will be brought forever to hell and not saved, this would mean that He can not enforce His will and thus He is not the omnipotent God, if we follow these doctrines believe.
    - Why does it say in some passages that Jesus is the Son of God, in others the Son of Man and in others that He and God are one?
    Although I kept going to the Catholic Mass, at home I no longer practiced the prayers of the catholic church, but started talking like a child to my Father (Matthew 6: 7 + 8 ). After a short while, I got the answer to everything. He guided me through a friend of my mother to the revelations of Bertha Dudde. Now I know that the Bible does not contradict itself. God can not contradict himself. The truth is not in the word, in the letter, but in the understanding, in the interpretation of it. Now I know that Jesus is God and our Father in heaven, and I understand all the processes and contexts, and through this I have come to know that He is the perfect Love and not the strict, punitive God. As he promised us in John 14; 21: "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. "
    16; 12 + 13: "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. "
    16; 25: "These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. "
    In the revelations of Bertha Dudde, His promise was fulfilled, just as every other of His promises was and will be fulfilled, for He never quits (Titus 1: 2) because His word is truth (John 17; 17) and all that will happen is what He said has (Hebrews 10; 23, Ezekiel 12; 25:28, etc.)
    My loved brothers and sisters, I ask you not to blindly believe me, but as written in 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verses 19-21: " Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. "
    Before you begin to look, go into prayer and ask our Father Jesus Christ for enlightenment to put you in your heart, whether that's really His word or not. Do not read with your mind or knowledge, but with your heart, for knowledge (knowledge, understanding) puffeth up, love (heart) edifieth (1 Corinthians 8: 1), for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life (2 Corinthians 3: 6).

      What do you mean the truth is not in the word, but in the interpretation of it? Jesus said "Your word is truth" in John 17:17, and the Bible is full of verses that say God's word is true. That means it's true for everyone, regardless of interpretation because interpretations can be wrong, but truth cannot be wrong.

      Hell is eternal because our sins are eternal because they are comitted against an eternal God.
      God doesn't punish us for the sins of adam. He does it for our sins.
      We only got the sinful nature from adam.
      Adam did not tell us to sin.
      Jesus is God and He is one with the Father in works, not in person.
      He is the Son of man because He was born on this earth from a woman.
      He's the Son of God because He is eternal and He is God.
      It's just a hierarchy. We don't know if in heaven Jesus had a different position, but He is equal to God.

      Innocent children dont go to Hell, theyre not punished for the sins of Adam.
      We are punished for our own sins.

      You are not God, if God decides an eternal punishment is right, then it is right, and you are in no position to judge Him for it.
      Some also believe in something called annihilationism, which is the belief that the second death means the destruction of the soul, not eternal torture as traditionally depicted.
      "Why is Jesus referred to both as the Son of God and the Son of Man?"
      Because He is both, the Son of Man is a title used before only once to describe King David, it is applied to Jesus to emphasize His status as the successor to David and the King of Israel.

    From my perspective ... suffering is not about sin.
    If as Stephen Hawking believed before he died, that the universe always existed ... that does away completely with the theory that the universe was created.
    If his theory was correct ... then there wasn't any creator ... or plan ... and that would mean that suffering of all forms of life always was ... and is ... natural.
    It would also mean that energy and consciousness in one form or another also always existed.
    And concerning that system of belief that the universe always existed ... Stephen was not alone.
    Example: From the book … 2000 Years of Disbelief … author … James A. Haugt … “None of the gods has formed the world, nor has any man; it has always been.”-Empedocles (495-435 B.C.E.), Greek philosopher and statesman (Noyes) … “The universe has been made neither by gods nor by men, but it has been, and is, and will be eternally.”-Heraclitus (Noyes) ... “The nature of the universe has by no means been made through divine power, seeing how great are the flaws that mar it”-Lucretius, ibid.

    I know this is something small but I do not want to be disobedient do God. I was reading scriptures on modesty and decided to dress more modest but there are some people saying that woman are not allowed to wear pants according to deauteronomy 22:5 ... I just want to do the right thing but also I do not want to fall into legalism but at the same time i do not want to be an abomination to the Lord please can someone give me an answer

      I am no expert: so please research this as well. Look into the matter as well as asking questions.
      But to my understanding: well, let's look at the verse, first!
      Always wise to look at the passage in question, and in context:
      "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God."
      Okay. So, what's being said here?
      -We're in Deuteronomy: God is laying down laws for the children of Israel. We're not them.
      -However, this being God's Word, and even though we're not under the Old Covenant, there's still wisdom to be seen here. As a saying goes, "God doesn't make stupid laws." So, why is this law here, and does it pertain to us Christians, even under the New Covenant?
      -I think the point here that, as Jesus said in Mark 10:6 (Himself quoting Genesis 1:27, I think), "In the beginning, God made them male and female."
      God is making a distinction between male and female, and saying to man 'Do not blur what I have made - do not cause confusion.'
      So: pants!
      Were pants a thing back then?
      I don't think so: not in the modern sense. But are pants specifically for men and only men, or are they for women too?
      I think some kinds may be 'for men' or 'for women' in certain specific ways. I know some people wear pants that are too baggy, which can look weird - others wear pants too tight, to the point of immodesty, I think.
      But pants themselves, in general? I do not think they're 'specifically for only men.'
      Let's take culture, for example.
      In Scotland, men wear kilts. Over here in America, we might joke that they're wearing skirts, yet the kilts they wear over there are masculine, not feminine.
      So, a question that may help you: ask this to yourself, too. 'Should men not wear kilts?'
      Ask yourself: 'how do we think about this?' too.

      You can ask Pastor John by going to the web address mentioned at the end of the video. I'm not Pastor John, but since marriage is supposed to be a reflection of the relationship between Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:22-30), I would say that a prenup is not biblical since it presupposes that the marriage could end, but the relationship between Christ and the church cannot end.
      If a prenup is felt to be needed, perhaps the marriage should not occur. But of course, talk with your pastor, and you could also ask Pastor John.

      Any marriage can end since people change. Protecting your future by prenup is not wrong. Some people are out to use others for their gain. A true relationship will provide regardless if there is legal documents protecting one's wealth.

      A prenup doesn't seem to be biblical as marriage is intended to be permanent. I would suggest listing the reasons why you would want or need a prenup, if I has to do with you or your partner's character then I would wait until you settle that before even thinking about marriage(if that means another year or more or even breaking up).
      However if its something to protect the children (since you may never know what happens but your children's security should always be first), your a parents are strongly pushing for one, or you already have one. I think it would be okay and it's never to late to ask forgiveness once you realize something was wrong.

    Human’s sins could lead to suffering to self but also to innocent others. But even before Adam’s sins, animals on earth for million years have suffered natural disasters for no sins. Therefore, there is no direct connection between suffering with sins.

    Hunter is correct in a way, however, faith is being tested but God does not create the suffering. The suffering is a direct result of OUR choices. God created in us choice, bad choice = suffering, good choices = Joy, peace, etc. God is light there is no evil in him. sickness, death, suffering comes from the devil and is NOT from God. God will test us in it, read James, but does not bring it upon us. It comes down to knowing what is Our Part and what is God's part. Remember we are in partnership with God.

    Jesus took sin out of the equation. So no. Suffering is not a correction for sin.
    When taught correctly we understand the Gospel is the restoration of a wo-man back to the image of God by His blood and Spirit because of pure love for free. 2 Cor 3:18.
    When we understand God grear plan we fall in love with Him and are being transformed into His image and likeness.
    So we get restored by Holy Spirit to share Gods kingdom/holy spirit/divine nature to our surroundings.
    All these things are ours as long as we don't loose sight on who we became now He has come. Col 2:9-10.

      That's a great point! Also, I've found this verse to help during times of suffering: Philippians 1:29 "For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake."

    how about for punishment? my WELS church didn't teach this, but life certainly has. I think many people get lives that are broken for good though you are still saved. go ask David, he'll tell you the same.
