I'd enjoy doing a review here or there on the drones I use for my business. But we just can't afford to buy every drone out there. So we use what we have to get the job done.
I've been in business for 5 years and my biggest cash cow has been my old reliable Mavic 2 Pro and my clients don't care, as long as they see results. My second drone is a Matrice 300 and that's my heavy lifter when it comes to site surveys. Good to see we think alike, Rich.
I think we're both on the right track! This morning I was actually rechecking my Mavic 2 Pro for a new job site. We'll bring the 2Pro and the 3E. I plan to get as much out of the 2P as I can. 😁
Thank you for the update. Great point about the older grading equipment on construction sites, I see it all the time. Which of the “older” drones are you using that are still producing great results and what deliverables remain valid with them?
Every job site I go to has older construction gear. Construction groups don't buy new gear for every new project they're running. They buy the gear as the need arises. For us most of our current work can be done with the 3E. I could love to get a Mavic 3 Pro for video waypoint missions, but cant justify the expense right now.
Upgrade from Mavic 3E is probably not reasonable yes but if i was looking either one of those then the Matrice 4E is a nobrainer. The price difference is so little to go for a older model. 3E+ RTK vs 4E. I dont think we see discounts for the 3E lineup, they usually dont do that for Enterprise lineups.
I assume the matrice 4 doesn't have full photo setting options like raw, etc. If somebody still needs a photography drone it would probably be the mavic 3 pro. One reason to get the mavic 3 enterprise instead of the matrice 4 is battery compatibility with the mavic 3 pro.
You're right on the money with the battery compatibility. I just got a few more over the holiday. Also, yet another controller if I were to do the 4E. And like the 3E, the 4E seems geared to mapping and modeling. If I could have one more drone dropped in my lap it would be the Mavic 3 Pro.
The M3E I ordered has been on backorder for 3 months and I was just told earliest ship date is March (from B&H). I'm assuming I'll never see it and should order the M4E instead. Thoughts?
Thanks Rich, this is not said enough. DJI would have everyone buy into there "cell phone" roll-out product model, and this is simply not a good practice if you want to keep money in your pocket. Of course we looked at this too and features have been improved but I see nothing that opens up new business lines.
It's a tough decision, but I'd consider what you're trying to achieve. If you're new to doing drone work, do you anticipate doing high end mapping and modeling? Have you tried mapping and modeling yet? How about video waypoint missions? Starting out with a higher end drone might not be the best choice for you at the moment. What have you tried so far?
Hi Im new this. What drone do I need for to measure basic land example point a to point b etc. i have a wide huge land that I need to measure the area. Google map doesn't work and not accurate. Thankyou in advance
If you want to fly locations that are "huge" you'll probably be looking for a Mavic 3E, or the new Matrice 4E. These are professional mapping drones. You'll also need to get your Part 107 exam done as well if this project is commercial. Finding what you need can be quite the task. If you're really starting out from scratch you might want to watch some videos on mapping and modeling. ua-cam.com/video/eY7BwUNsNdU/v-deo.html
@ thankyou very much. Im thinking getting the matrice 4E sense it has that laser measurement feature something basic that I need. Do i need an rtk for this?
I love when a new drone comes out. That means the previous drone is even cheaper used 😊😊
This a great video to watch. There too many UA-camrs showing new features of new DJI drones but they don't work professionally in the industry.

Love your take on this and I find it hard to believe a drone at this price does not have an IP rating!
I was surprised on the IP rating as well as I watched one of the videos on the 4E

I can't see how it improves anything if you already have what ya need already
..good review, good arguments, totally agree
Glad you enjoyed the video! Much appreciated.
Yes.
If you have a need for the 4E then look into getting one. Just be sure to cover all the specs you need.

Yes much needed ...
If you find a need for it, that's great. I just can't keep up more drones hitting the market yet. 😀

If it was time for us to upgade I'd take a harder look at the 4E. And you're right on the pricing. Thats something that seems weird to me.
Bingo! if its not adding to the bottom line, no need to step up
Exactly! Until I have a business case for the 4E it makes no sense for me. Hope you're doing well!

That's a long wait time. Have you checked with any other resllers? I know B&H is great (bought many cameras from them over the years.

You nailed it right on! I agree, there's nothing with the 4E that opens new lines of business for me at the moment.
I am just starting with drones and have been looking into dji enterprise. I can’t decide between the mavic 3 and the matrice 4.

I will if it doesn’t get banned
I don't think that's in the near future, but you never know.
