During my showing yesterday in the theater every single move trailer shown was a live action remake of an already established IP. How to Train Your Dragon, Snow White, Sonic 3, Mufasa. It’s quite telling about how bankrupt these studios are on creativity and how greedy they are to continuously push out slop that nobody asks for. It also really exposed what type of movie Moana 2 was gonna be, a sad imitation of a beloved IP capitalizing on the success of its predecessor…
Ditto, I wasn't planning on watching it, because I love the original so much, and suspected that a sequel would be totally unnecessary. Turns out that my hunch was all too accurate.
If I had a nickel for every direct to streaming movie that was then upgraded to be a theatrical release starring the Rock and released this year, I'll have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened twice
It's really good, especially the ending and how it sets up Moana for future adventures. My kids loved it!! Moana is critic proof. She is an IP like Mario which can get mixed reviews but they have zero impact and will make a billion worldwide. She is too powerful for any criticism.
Went to see it. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Wait for it to hit Disney plus. I couldn’t help but wonder why they didn’t tap anyone to create an amazing soundtrack.
Maui wanted more of him in Moana 2!! I really loved Maui’s development, and I’d love that he kept his development while they expanded on it. He felt like a loving older brother and a teacher. For Moana, she was great. They expanded on her character, and nothing feels like they backtracked, which was great. She's still very adventurous, and *spoilers*, I believe she’s a demigod now, which is going to be interesting for future sequels. And if you look at how many tattoos Maui got, maybe it could show future advances or advancements Moana could make. So, my favorite characters in this movie were obviously Maui and Moana. Heihei, Kele was my fourth very good character; he just reminded me of me from time to time, aside from not liking singing. Moana's sister was slightly annoying, but she was a cool little sister. What interests me more is what future stories you could tell with that little sister to see what she goes on to do-if it’s good, evil, or somewhere in the middle, just adding a different layer to their characters. But what I rate this movie is about an 8.5 out of 10. I personally like this movie more than the first one. However, I do feel that since this movie was a series first, and then a movie, there's a slight bit of condensation. It looks like they’re saving a villain for the next movie or potential sequel if this movie does well, which is slightly disappointing. If that doesn’t come to pass, I might revise my rating, but for now, I’m feeling an 8.5 out of 10. If I were to count all my problems, it might go down to a seven, losing three points, or even a 6.5 out of 10. But currently, I’m not feeling like lowering it; I'm okay with the rating I currently have.
Stop watching sequels, and we'll get better originals. The awesome thing about a free market is that issues like bad sequels have diminishing returns. Eventually the creatives at Hollywood will make better movies because they have to.
They still get at least decent revenue from nostalgic Disney parents and parents just looking for a place to drop their kids. Which is basically Disney’s entire demographic nowadays
It's kinda insane how this movie has had, like, zero interest or fanfare leading up to its release, and yet, it's still gonna make a shit ton of money at the box office this weekend.
Disney thought they could pull a similar move like Toy Story 2 with a 9 month production period. But unlike Moana 2, Pixar never let some inexperienced studio handle their sequel.
Happy early birthday! I'm glad that you're taking your time with videos now and releasing them when you're ready, rather than rushing them out. The videos have been better now that you're actually showcasing an opinion, rather than being the "i hate everything" guy. You sound happier and that makes me happy. I really hope everyone is going ok for you, because you don't deserve that trouble :)
It certainly wasn't the sequel I personally had in mind. My main premise was that Moana gets separated from the other voyagers and ends up trapped back in Lalotai. Maui isn't in this but she meets with another male character around her age named Yen Sid who is a foil to both Moana and Maui and was banished to Lalotai. They both go on a journey to escape Lalotai together by moving down to the center of the world and coming out through the other side. Along the way, Yen Sid obtains magic powers to help them on their quest, and Matpat's film theory of Maui being Moana's real father is revealed to be true.

00:46 real nice to see my boy jerma going from a tf2oober to top executive of disney
I just came out of the theater and thoroughly enjoyed it so I got jumpscared by this notification 😭
I’m glad you enjoyed sorry for the jump scare ✊😞
So great u were happy while Israel gets money
@@AyaOatsnobody asked your opinion on the war. This is not about the war. Be quiet
@ they give money to them when u give disney money they give it to israel making it related
@ ur a bad person so am i we are both going to die and go to bad place if its real
I wish Disney would make a dark fantasy movie
Glad I was born in the 80s when that happened.
@Disneyfan82 Why can't Disney do it today. I really want to see a gothic fantasy princess movie, who goes on a corruption arc
The last time they tried this was The Black Cauldron and it bombed, so they've been scared to do that ever since. Maybe they'll reconsider some day.
@@GothMusicLatinAmerica Not exactly, there were other dark movies they made, just with better writing.
@@Disneyfan82 I want to see Disney do a grimdark fantasy movie, something inspired by the video game Dark Souls or something, with a princess who goes from good to evil.
I knew it !!!!
Jerma is responsible for everything
Its his tempt up anger of being stuck in a "compact" body
They should’ve named the movie
The rock:Ego strikes back!
Happy birthday, Nick. :)
I LOVE Moana and would've LOVED a TV show
idk i still liked the movie but i definitely was disappointed when the bat lady wasn’t a villain
For some reason, anytime they make a sequal that's bad, the original feels worse
Because before the last things with the characters in your mind was good and those good memories are mix in with the bad ones of the new film
At least the direct to TV/DVD movies that actually just episodes of the show were full 3 episodes and not a salad.
Atp I can’t turn my brain off for Disney sequels
During my showing yesterday in the theater every single move trailer shown was a live action remake of an already established IP. How to Train Your Dragon, Snow White, Sonic 3, Mufasa. It’s quite telling about how bankrupt these studios are on creativity and how greedy they are to continuously push out slop that nobody asks for. It also really exposed what type of movie Moana 2 was gonna be, a sad imitation of a beloved IP capitalizing on the success of its predecessor…
I'm going to see all those movies, so I asked for them..
Moana 2 is one of the sequels of all time. And one I’m glad I didn’t see it.
Ditto, I wasn't planning on watching it, because I love the original so much, and suspected that a sequel would be totally unnecessary. Turns out that my hunch was all too accurate.
True💯💯
When did the world forget to say the sentence properly.
"Moana 2 Is one of the [insert opinion] sequels of all time.
@@eddiesmith7867 The Morbius Meme helped😂😂😂😂
@@chasehedges6775 how is that a morbius meme
(reads title) i don't need a youtuber to tell me that
If I had a nickel for every direct to streaming movie that was then upgraded to be a theatrical release starring the Rock and released this year, I'll have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened twice

Miss you a lot Nick, you're always a delight to listen to brother.
I love the first five 3D adorkable heroine Disney musicals: Tangled, Frozen, Moana, Frozen 2 and Encanto. Wish has officially ruined that style.
Frozen 2 and Encanto were mid
My friend wished it was longer
It's really good, especially the ending and how it sets up Moana for future adventures. My kids loved it!! Moana is critic proof. She is an IP like Mario which can get mixed reviews but they have zero impact and will make a billion worldwide. She is too powerful for any criticism.
I think this was a good sequel curse you haters.
you guys will hate on anything at this point, the movie wasn't even that bad
Exactly, I still get A chance to see it
0:48 JERMA, THE THING ITSELF? WOWZERS
8:38 "why do i have this random picture of vancouver on my desktop? guess i'll just delete it."
i got a moana 2 ad on this video lol
Happy early Birthday man! You're doing it year by year. Little progress, good progress. Always awesome content!
The moment I saw “Moana 2” I was like yeah, NOPE. It’s already so wrong when they featured that useless pig character 😭
happy birthday nick!!

Bro talking like Moana was a Modern Picasso
Went to see it. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Wait for it to hit Disney plus. I couldn’t help but wonder why they didn’t tap anyone to create an amazing soundtrack.
hey Nick, happy late birthday! I truly hope you had a great time :)
I'm so happy this was recommended to me. Missed you, nick!
Happy Birthday! This video pretty much sums up my feelings about this movie
They fired half the staff and wanted to make money
Exactly.
Modern Disney’s quest for greed is utterly is impressive
HES BACK AND HES HATIN AGAIN YIPPEEE
Stop watching sequels, and we'll get better originals. The awesome thing about a free market is that issues like bad sequels have diminishing returns. Eventually the creatives at Hollywood will make better movies because they have to.
They still get at least decent revenue from nostalgic Disney parents and parents just looking for a place to drop their kids. Which is basically Disney’s entire demographic nowadays
It's kinda insane how this movie has had, like, zero interest or fanfare leading up to its release, and yet, it's still gonna make a shit ton of money at the box office this weekend.
wasn't moana like 13 a couple of years ago? How does she have a 3 year old already hahaha
That’s her sister and this movie’s set 3 years after the original
Funny enough I got a ad got Moana 2 when clicking on this
i once watched moana three times in a row, i was surprised to see that moana 2 was out at all and was unenthused by the trailers
Disney thought they could pull a similar move like Toy Story 2 with a 9 month production period. But unlike Moana 2, Pixar never let some inexperienced studio handle their sequel.
The Rhino from James and the Giant Peach was a more threatening cloud based foe than 2's villain
I got a Moana 2 ad before this 😂
A Moana 2 ad played on a video against Moana 2
Bro got possessed by Mario Wii U when he talked about the water.
I didn't even noticed it released 💀
Happy birthday! Great video
This is what I was scared of…
It certainly wasn't the sequel I personally had in mind.
I am seeing it Tuesday. From what I hear, it's okay.
The animation in Moana 2 isn't bad but something feels different compared to the first Moana
THIS STORY IS FAR FROM OVER!
This is apparently a middle movie and the mid credits shows the open ending.
The human-looking villain announces his revenge and that two-timing, cunning bat lady is with him.
I agree. I watched the 1st movie before going to watch this one
This movie is absolutely awful
It doesn't start bad. But around the 40 minute mark it becomes unbearably childish
With no soul, no stakes
Disney: "We have nothing coming out this Winter".
They could have moved Mufasa up to later November.
