    We've had the T-Fall for around 6 months and use it quite often, I couldn't be happier. The oil storage is what really sold me on it as it makes cleaning almost effortless. My only complaint is one has to be very careful with the oil storage container as the whole top snaps off for cleaning and if not held when pouring the oil back into the fryer it can pop off and make a real mess (yes it happened to me the first time I used it). There is a small twist off cap in the corner to allow pouring which is nice. We change the oil around every ten fries.

Dredging on fried chicken burns up the oil faster than the dough of empanadas. Weirdly, I haven't had issues w/ the top of the plastic container, if anything it was very difficulty to take off the 1st times when I wanted to give the whole fryer a good clean, but its still is very secure. IDK if they changed the design.

    The problem I’ve found with all of these cheap home fryers is that when you drop a full basket of food into them the oil temperature drops significantly. You think you’re cooking at 350°F but if you check the oil temperature right after dropping a full basket of food it will likely have cooled to be between 275° - 300°F. And the heating elements aren’t nearly powerful enough to recover the lost heat quickly enough at a heat output if 1500-1800 watts for the results you were expecting. Even small commercial fryers are plugged into 240v high capacity power sources and also hold way more oil.
    To get decent results with these toys use the double drop method where you drop the food and cook initially for 2-3 minutes and then raise the food basket and let the temperature of the oil recover to the set temperature and then drop the food basket again to finish frying.
    The other option is to fry really small quantities of food. In either case make sure the food items are as dry as possible before dropping them into the oil.

    • @KingJT80

      there were some there that have a function to compensate for frozen food. i bought the one sitting next to the T-fal the Delonghi Livenza Deep Fryer..should be pretty good. its 1500W but yaeh maybe not the best for tempura. BUT my air fryer WILL do 400..ninja foodie
      or you can raise the temp initially 15 degrees higher than the recommended setting so if your bag of frys says cook at 350 turn the temp up 15 degrees higher initially then turn it back down to 350

      @KingJT80 Рік тому

      @@HB45175 I found out my fryer is just fine. It just depends on how it's being fried and what you're coating it with
      I bought tempura shrimp from the frozen section and followed the directions and it came out great
      Also did some wings in beer batter with my fryer. Also very good and crispy.
      And the top temperature on the delonghi fryer is 374 degrees F

    • @Dave-ei7kk
      @Dave-ei7kk Рік тому +2

      @@HB45175 2300 watts would be an improvement for sure. Ours largest non-commercial 120v deep fryers are 1800 watts. So yours would recover the temperature loss faster and heat up more quickly when it’s first turned on.
      But if it contains the same amount of oil it will still loose heat very quickly when a basket full of food items is lowered, especially if they are a little wet.
      We can work around these shortcomings with the double drop method or not filling the fry basket but there’s still no substitute for a commercial unit that holds gallons of oil with 3840 watts or more of heat input.

    I have the Tefal Compact. I just got it last week and am THRILLED with the way it fried.
    The oil straining into the oil box was VERY efficient. I have a question though... I did not feel comfortable leaving my oil in the box under the machine for fear of insects being attracted to the opening of the oil box. I decided to pour my leftover oil into a jar and refrigerated it due to heatwave. Does anyone know if the oil box is "bug proof"? From experience in restaurants I have seen infestations of creatures inside of the large condiment pump type containers so tend to be cautious. Any feedback would be helpful. Thank you.

    I had a very similar version of the T-Fal about 12 years ago when I lived overseas (Tefal if desired). Nearly identical experience as both described in the video and from earlier comments. Ironically, I had a tendency to switch back and forth from both the T-Fal and "traditional pot/pan" methods over a variety of heat sources. Ultimately, the "traditional pot/pan" method became my "go-to" method as the tradeoffs were not that difficult for me to deal with. I even improvised a lid that combined both splatter filtering, a "viewing window", and a rubber gasket to stick a probe through to monitor temperatures. NOT the same but nearly as convenient, overall cheaper, less cleaning steps, less assembly/disassembly, and one less gadget for me to deal with. The direct heating element is a feature that I believe is both efficient and quick, but it wasn't much better than what my heating hobs did (especially induction). Just my 2 cents.

      If you want to make great fries with it you must have a Candy Thermometer & when you turn it on monitor it's Temp & when it rises to 325 ° F. dump your fries in ... After you pull them out & waited the customary lag time between fry times when the Fry Daddy reaches it's Max Temp of 375 ° F then dump your fries back in to finish them up ...After that if you want to do more batches the only way to do that is for you to be the human thermostat turning it off till ti cools down to 325 ° F to dump the next batch in & then plug it back in again ... LOL , True Story ...🤗🤣

      Funny how much Amazon prices seem to vary depending upon how much interest a product has. Do yourself a favor and always double check for the best price with a search engine. (Looks like it is $129 at Walmart at this writing.)

    I own a 'frydaddy', and even at the highest setting, the oil only gets up to 275 (not 375 like it says).
    So stay away from that one.

      This clip is from a show that aired on September 18, 2021, and filming normally takes place several months before the show airs. It's common for prices to rise after a review, because there's a rush of buyers and the law of supply and demand is in effect. As of 10AM Pacific time on May 11th, 2022, it's down to $148.68.

    Why are we using a bag of frozen fries in a home frier? Isn't the entire point to get fresh fries that are actually fried?...serious question.

      Or you don't know how to read or know how ATK's UA-cam works. This is a clip, and as the title implies, they are showing the BEST (aka the winner) electric deep fryer. Therefore this video is a super short summary of what they were looking for and then revealing the winner. Want to know more? Go to their site and read the full review that covers everything you want. They might also go into more detail in one of their longer videos. This is clearly a short clip made for easy, fast consumption that reveals their winning frier.
      Come on people, critical thinking, please develop it and use it. Less dumb comments on the internet would be great.
