The Last Waltz is my favorite of his. My mother loved him and would listen to his albums while cleaning the house, 50 yrs later and I still remember the words.
Incomparable voice! I got to see him live in 1982 in Las Vegas; it was a performance of a lifetime. I’m now seeing a number of “reaction” videos about people today hearing Engelbert and Tom Jones for the first time. Both of these amazing entertainers could hit powerful, sustained high notes that most pop singers couldn’t even touch, and they didn’t need electronic enhancements, just a microphone. Also check out: "The Way It Used to Be" and "Am I That Easy to Forget?" by Engelbert.
Release me came out on January 13, 1967. It was the song that started Engelbert Humperdinck's amazingly, long career. This wonderful song just had it's 54th birthday. Engelbert just turned 85 years old on May 2, 2021, and he is still singing to sellout venues worldwide. He is still a phenomenal talent, even after all these years. God has blessed him with a magnificent gift!!!!!
Growing up as a Navy dependent in the late 60's, we were stationed in Japan. The only music we had was dad's albums. We didn't have television there, but we could request albums from his collection, often falling asleep after bedtime to our selections. Engelbert Humperdinck was a favorite.
His wife sadly passed away this weekend of Covid-19. They had been married for over 50 years. My mum was a huge fan and I was lucky enough to be able to take her to one of his concerns when she was 70 a few years before she passed away. It really made her day.
I have had this song stuck in the back of my head since it came out. Every once in a while, it just pops into my head and I sing the chorus. I don't know why.
Oh I feel in love with this song when it was first came out . I had to get the single and then the LP . I had just separated from my first husband and fell in love with this singer .My heart still goes pitter pat every time I hear this song !! Engelbert was diagnosed with covid and so was his lovely wife . Sadly Patrica passed away . He is doing good now . He is 85 but still sounds AWSOME !! Still handsome !!
Engelbert did a live in concert on you tube july 2020. from his home in Ca....check it out..was very good..keep in mind he is 84 yrs old..take care and God Bless
This performance was from 1989. The song was written way back in 1949 and has been covered by numerous artists. When Englebert put it on his 1967 album, it really sparked his fame and popularity. His rendition is considered the best. He's my 2nd all time favorite crooner after Nat King Cole.
It was actually out in 1967, a huge hit. He is one of the greatest singers ever similar to Tom Jones. They were sort of rivals, tho friends. Both had variety shows on back in late 60s. Had many hits. Performed a great concert in Hawaii, probably was near 80.
Engelbert is one of the great singers in Pop music. He was also good friends with Elvis. This song was a big no. 1 hit for Engelbert in 1967. Actually, this was the song that prevented the Beatles double A single Strawberry Fields/ Penny Lane from reaching no. 1 on the charts. I always thought that is an interesting music fact.
Engelbert Humperdink was a good friend of ELVIS in the video LUCKY STARS WHO GOT TO MEET ELVIS PART 1 he tells a story about ELVIS in las vegas it is on you tube 14 mins long also has other big stars talking about ELVIS love your reations my favorite couple CHEERS
His real name is Gerry Dorsey but in order to become more successful in the music industry borrowed the name Englebert Humperdinck from a 19th century German opera composer. I saw him on stage at the Fox Theater in Atlanta in the 70's. He was one pretty man!
Actually his given name is Arnold George Dorsey. He did a wonderful impression of Jerry Lewis and people started calling him Gerry…with a G. His manager gave him the name Engelbert Humperdinck after the composer of the opera. Please Release Me knocked the Beatles out of their first place in the charts in 1967. That old song started it all for Engel. In his mid 80s now and starts a European tour April 2022. H a legend!!!
it was vegas, 89 at the Las vegas Hilton .. what an artist, he sings effortlessly, a real natural singer .. his contempary is Tom jones, very similar styles and just both have raw talent and their music stands the test of time , they broke the molds with these two artists
You two are a beautiful couple.....Its a pleasure to watch your joined up reaction to beautiful songs like this...Im a fan of you both already and this is my first time on this type of thing....if you ever get the chance there is a song called Grace by Rod Stewart.....play it I promise you will love it
Hello, actually the song was released in 1967 was a huge hit. I heard it live on AM radio then loved it then, loved it yet. Check out his other songs, u won't be disappointed. Good presentation, keep up the good work
I would do "there she goes" and "beautiful baby". Great lovesongs, and the last one is a homage to a wife too. How to win your love is probably my favourite. .
I would never, Release him. I seen him in concert when I was a teenager. He asked all of the single ladies come to the stage. It looked like a stamped. He did pick one and brought her on stage and sang to her. Then gave her a Rose!!! It was wonderful.
He's an Englishman whose real name is Arnold Dorsey! Not a name you would associate with a crooner, so he took the name of a 13th century German composer, Englebert Humperdink. I think it worked LOL!
Still touring at eighty plus years of age! Billed the most Romantic singing star. React to Spanish Eyes,Welcome to My World,Love is All,Last Waltz,so many more!
Cuando este tema salió al mercado a mediados de los 60, en plena beatlemania, el los desplazo del 1° place. He has a great voice. I like too much. Excuse me , but i speak spanish. Greatings from Buenos Aires.

Perfect.. Sometimes when someone asks my name (me being a smartass)I say Engelbert Humperdinck (not his real name by the way), most people especially young ones have never heard the name.. He does good with Ballads & Show Tunes.. ♠W.G.
Not sure if you remember in the video of Just Pretend, at the beginning, Elvis received a picture of himself from a fan next to the stage, and he says it looks like Engelbert Humperdink! Well, now you know who that is. He also asks the name of the fan and Elvis said "Bauheegan(not sure the spelling), is that your name"? If you go back to that video you can kind of see the picture at an angle.
Yes Mel you said his name right this song by our very own English gentleman was realised in the 60s by him not the 80s it was just a show from the 80s he was a good friend of Sir Tom Jones and Elvis in fact Elvis does sing this song I asked you the other night to play the Last waltz by Engelbert it was my mum and dads song so it always brings a lump to my throat now there not with us any more but I forgive you because if I remember right it was someone's birthday 😂and that was so much fun so please react to the last waltz for your English sis did you play Confidence by Elvis for the kids love you guys 💖from Denise in England 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧💖😘👋XX

......My favorite version is a little older by Esther Phillips. On the rock and roll charts in 1966 amongst the Psychedelic wave !
It came out when i was a young child I'm 64 now
This song has been recorded by several people including my man Elvis, Jim Reeves and Dean Martin to name a few
Please listen to Last Waltz,Love Me With All of Your Heart,Spanish Eyes,Welcome to My World,Love is All….sooooo many greats!
Hard to believe that this man is in his late '80s and still going strong. Just started another tour...he recently lost his wife to Covid19...
Oh that man was FINE.
Maybe Elvis’ biggest rivalry. He was known to shoot the tv screen out when he saw Englebert on it singing! True fact!
Didn't Johnny Adams do this first? His version is incredible
One of my best friends could NOT say this man's name! LOL! She called him something like Eaglebeak Hunkerdunk. So funny!
The fact was he was married for over 50 years .
Unfortunately his wife passed away during Covid.
He found it hard to come to terms with it .
♥️
